Chapter 104 - Seven Years Later - (Part 4)
Classic's POV
I adjusted my uniform before walking into the interrogation room. Three years ago, I joined the police force along with my husband, Fell.
My spouse followed me into the room. In the center of the cold iron walls, was a criminal that we have been looking for. Naturally, I was the first one to speak with Fell watching behind me.
I gently set down the file on top of the table and looked back up at the criminal directly in her eyes. The woman's name was Marita Clarson. Before speaking with her, I observed her carefully. A scared expression plagued her face and tears crawled down her cheeks. It was obvious that she was scared.
Furthering my investigation, I saw bruises and scars on the exposed parts of her body. It was clear that they were signs of abuse. I remembered that file that was given to me. Marita was a mother of two girls and a wife. The husband was a butcher and was said to be a drug addict however, I couldn't find any records on him.
Marita's two little girls were murdered by a cleaver and she was the prime suspect. Unless she could prove herself innocent, she was being charged with first degree murder.
Taking a quiet breath and resting my hands in a comfortable position, I began to speak.
Me: We have been searching for you for a while, Marita Clarson. You gave us quite a challenge. I'm going to ask you a few simple questions, if that's alright you.
No response.
Me: You're hurt. Did someone do that to you? Please, you can trust me. I'm on your side.
Nothing. Leaning in slightly, I tried to warn her in a calm manner.
Me: Please don't make this more difficult than it needs to be.
Marita: I'm going to jail for life, aren't I?
Me: Not if you prove your innocence.
Marita: It was my husband. He committed the crime.
She went silent again but, something didn't seem right. My attempt was quickly becoming fruitless and I was afraid of what Fell might do. After a few more times, I looked at my husband. I told him that it was his turn by nodding.
Fell didn't bother sitting. He only looked at the file before slamming it onto the table in front of her.
Fell: Like hell he did! He has already been proven innocent! You murdered your own children! You didn't even give them mercy! They begged you to stop but you couldn't resist! So you continued to cut, again and again until you were bored.
Marita: Stop, please!
Fell: Just say you killed them!
She was silent.
Fell: Say it!
Marita: Okay, okay just please... stop.
My spouse backed away from her and allowed her to speak.
Marita: Yes, I did murder my daughters. I planned to frame it on my husband because... I hate that man. I wanted him gone but nothing came to mind. That's when I had the idea to frame him for killing our children.
She was telling the truth. I knew because it was in her eyes. From the start, Fell and I knew she was guilty.
Me: Then explain the marks.
Marita: I did them to myself. I wanted to make it seem that my husband abused me.
I hummed in response to her. Following Fell out of the room, I felt a small feeling of accomplishment. We told the others that we were done and Mrs. Clarson confessed to her crime.
There was one place that we needed to go before being able to head home for the night. It was an elementary school located at the end of the block. We got into our car and drove to our new destination.
When we arrived, we saw children waiting for their parents to pick them up. There was a small skeleton sitting on the concrete while writing in a notebook. I familiarized them to be mine and Fell's child. He was named after the human that tried to protect me all those years ago. He smiled as he looked up and saw us.
Frisk: Mommy! Daddy!
I laughed as I picked him up.
Me: Hey kiddo.
He giggled before reaching out for his father. Fell took hold on him as we walked back to our car. As soon as got in, Frisk fell asleep. On the way home, I glanced back at him ever so often. I suddenly heard Fell sigh next to me.
Me: What's wrong?
Fell: I feel some pity for Marita. I shouldn't have been as harsh on her as I was.
Me: She's paying the price for a terrible crime that she committed with full consciousness. She murdered her own children. Imagine those little girls being Frisk.
Fell: Yeah, I guess you're right.
He mumbled as he turned the steering wheel. The car slowly pulled in the driveway before coming to a complete halt. I picked Frisk's sleeping body up and carried him into the house. I gently laid him in his bed and gave him his favorite stuffed animal.
Walking to the living room, I found Fell sitting on the couch while waiting for me. I cuddled up to his body once I was settled on the cushions.
Fell: Hey Princess.
We kissed each other. I remembered how small our relationship was seven years ago. Our lips were unfamiliar to one another and I had never had sex before. Now, I'm in the love with Fell and have a child with him. It's crazy...
How time passes so quickly
