Chapter 101 - Seven Years Later - (Part 1)
Killer's POV
The building was filled with the scent of food. I walked around asking people if they enjoyed their meal, when their mouths weren't full of course.
I was finishing up the last few of my tasks before I headed home for the day. Walking over to one of my workers, I went to tell them that I was leaving.
Worker: Hello boss. How can I help you?
Me: I'm done here. Could you take over?
Worker: Yes sir.
I smiled at him before walking out of the building. After getting into my car, I drove home. The short trip was calm but I was too excited to get home.
My car entered a small neighborhood that was quiet. I still lived in the same town as my former boss, Nightmare, as well as Dust. Nightmare still lived in the mansion but everyone has moved out. He was married to Cross and had four children. And Dust was my next door neighbor. He was married to Blue and had two children.
I parked on a driveway. After stepping out, I saw two houses with three children running around both the front yards. Their attention was drawn to me when I closed the door of my car. One of them smiled widely before rushing up to hug my legs while the other two waved.
???: Welcome home daddy!
I picked them up as a smile appear.
Me: Hi Star. Where's your mother?
Star: Mommy's inside. He's making dinner while I play with Fury and Sprinkles.
Star was four and was a bright child. Fury and Sprinkles were twins, fraternal that is. They were a year older and were like brothers to my child. The three of them were basically inseparable.
Putting Star back on the ground, I walked towards my home. Our home gave off a subtle modern nineties feel. Soft pastel colors were easy on the eyes and the furniture were comfortably shaped. It was the complete opposite of Nightmare's choice of interior design. The mansion had dark colors with luxury items to give a more expensive touch. Something you wouldn't find in a normal family home. Although, the furniture he had was also very cozy.
When I opened the front door, I saw my wife standing behind the island while looking at his phone and our Corgi, named Otis, sleeping nearby. It seemed he was waiting for the food to be done.
Leaning over the counter, I stared at him until he noticed me.
Dream: Kills, your home. How was work?
Me: It was fine. And you?
Dream: Same as yours I guess. Since we alternate days at the restaurant, there's really not much to say.
Me: I see your point.
I kissed him before walking down the hallway to the master bedroom. I really wanted to change out of my work clothes so I could stretch out a little.
The bedroom walls were painted a light shade of pastel yellow and white drapes hung over the windows. The colors helped us wake up in the morning and made the room look bigger.
The covers loosely hugged the bed neatly and the matching pillows were set up at the headboard. A television was on the other side of the room, facing the bed. There wasn't much in here but enough to give it a restful feeling.
After changing into my favorite jacket, I walked into the kitchen to see Dream and Star at the dining table. Sitting next to them, I began to eat dinner with my family.
Star: Daddy.
Me: Yes?
Star: Can we invite Uncle Dust, Aunt Blue, Fury and Sprinkles over for s'mores tonight?
Dream: After dinner, you can go over to their house and ask them.
Star: Yes!
(Time Skip)
I set the campfire ablaze and set the stuff done. Dust and Blue agreed to come but they weren't here yet. The bag of marshmallows were tempting so I took one.
Dream: Killer! Put that back and wait.
Me: You want one?
He stared at me for a second before sighing.
Dream: Yeah sure, why not?
I closed the bag after giving him the small treat. The others eventually came, they even brought their dog. They had a Dalmatian named Pongo. Otis and Pongo were pals. Our Corgi was old so he wasn't as energetic as he used to be, unlike Pongo who was just a puppy.
We sat around talking until the sun fully set. That's when the kids started making s'mores. Dream was leaning against my shoulder and watching the children.
Star gave me one and I thanked him. As I stared at it, a memory came back to me which made me smile.
Me: Remember when I broke my leg and arm?
Dust: How could we forget, Killer? You were whining like a baby the entire time. Also, you were on the verge of death.
He laughed as he took a sip of his beer.
Me: I did not.
Dream: You kinda did.
Me: Wow. I feel betrayed.
Our attention went back to the kids, who were toasting marshmallows. Best timing ever, Fury happened to set his completely on fire. Sprinkles started to freak out.
Sprinkles: What are you doing?! Stop!
Fury: No. Do you see how cool this looks?
Star: You're going to set everything on fire!
Fury: No I won't.
Star & Sprinkles: Yes you will.
Dust leaned forward and chuckled. Blue got up to tell his son to blow it out.
Dust: Five year olds, you gotta love 'em. Of course my son has to be a pyromaniac.
I laughed in response to him.
While silently watching, I thought about the others. Error and Ink moved to France and have Gradient. Last I've heard, Ink was pregnant again. Horror and Lust moved to New York about six years ago. Lust started his own fashion line and Horror was a stay-at-home dad. They have a kid named Desire.
It's honestly hard to think about sometimes. That we have all moved on from being an assassin. Even though Nightmare, Cross and Dust were still doing it. I can remember everything that happened vividly...
I wonder how they're doing
A Quick Discussion
Yes, Dust and Blue have a dog named Pongo. The one from 101 Dalmatians.
Ink is pregnant with PaperJam now.
Fury and Sprinkles are non-identical twins. Just in case you didn't know what Fraternal meant.
Killer and Dream have an old Corgi and one child.
This is the beginning of the last few chapters of the story. It's sad to see this go but don't worry, I will show how everyone is doing. I am calling this book... My Masterpiece.
Love ya...
Bye
