Chapter 13: The Therapist

*A Month Later*

Cody was practicing his silk stunts again until he saw Alicia come in again when he looked down and smiled at her until he unraveled himself down and Alicia walked up to him before the mom and son hugged as Alicia lightly pressed her head onto Cody's chest until he looked at her and took in Alicia's beauty.

Alicia: Whatcha thinking about?

Cody: Tomorrow when we start getting our time with Lili. She's been waiting to be with her daddy and grandma.

Alicia giggled as Cody felt the small vibration from her on his chest.

Alicia: Yeah. I'm sure my granddaughter will be happy to see us.

Cody: ....... wanna try something with me?

Alicia: What is it?

Cody then did something daring when he wrapped the silks around him and Alicia and he held onto Alicia and held her by her waist which freaked her out a bit, but Cody held onto her tightly when he climbed up the silks with Alicia holding onto his shoulders and had her wrapped up in one of them.

Cody: It's alright. Just hold on and follow my lead.

Cody then sat into the silk before he grasped Alicia's hands when she got out of the other silk and Cody held onto her before Cody pulled her into his silk that he was sitting in and Alicia was leaning back when he lightly grabbed her back and Cody pulled up Alicia when they were suddenly sitting face to face.

Alicia: That was incredible.

Cody: Something that aunt Connie taught me.

Alicia: She's totally your aunt. You two are silk masters at this point.

Cody: I'm a mixture of all of you remember?

Alicia: Touche.

Alicia then rested her head onto Cody's shoulder when the mom and son embraced each other in the silks.

*Later*

Cody sat on the stage at soundcheck when he felt the presence of someone come up when she hugged him from behind, it's Kym.

Kym: Whatcha doing?

Cody: Thinking about everything that's happened in the last few years. I don't know how I survived from being beaten to a pulp. I should've died. How did I even survive?

Kym then sat next to Cody.

Kym: Because we all see that fight and heart that you have Cody. After you almost died you woke up for not just us, but for your amazing wife and beautiful daughter. We love you so much Cody that we would want you to keep fighting for not just us, but for them.

Cody smiled and turnt around as he was face to face with Kym and the two of them hugged full on.

Cody: Thanks Kymmy. Sometimes I need a little motivation to keep me going. Especially from one of the best seven aunts ever.

Kym: I know. That's why we're here for you every step of the way. Walking through life with you has been the best thing that's ever happened to us. We all love you Cody. Forever and always.

Cody then looked at Kym as they held each other and lightly pecked each other on the lips.

Cody: Love you too Kymmy.

Kym smiled at Cody until they had to go get ready for the show when they bothe went to the hair and makeup stations after they got their outfits on.

*The Next Night*

Cody and Alicia waited backstage with Lili in Alicia's arms as Taylor was about to finish up playing with WMD.

After the encore, they all came backstage when Taylor went up to Cody and kissed him before they all started walking with Alina to Taylor's dressing room.

Cody: That was a great show baby.

Taylor: It sure was. The fans here in Brooklyn were crazy.

Alicia: Yeah. Especially that one chick that threw a bra on the stage.

Taylor: Believe me, that's rare at a Pretty Reckless show, but that was shockingly common at a WMD show. Would've been funny if you ran out and tried it on Cody.

Cody: Funny. It was too small to fit me anyway.

Alicia: I need to see that now! Whenever you play next Cody, I can only hope there's at least one girl that does that!

Taylor and Alicia giggled as Cody rolled his eyes dramatically until they arrived to Taylor's dressing room where they sat down for a bit and Lili interacted with Nathan.

Taylor: Tonight's the night we switch don't we?

Cody: Yeah. You deserve a break though sweetheart.

Alicia: We'll see you again when we all finish in Reno and then eventually back in Las Vegas.

Taylor: Do you have to go so soon?

Alicia: Not really. We've got a few minutes to ourselves.

Cody: Yeah. Let's make the most out of these next few minutes.

Taylor agreed as they all talked amongst each other while Lili played with Nathan before Cody and Alicia had to go when Taylor gave Lili to Cody and she said goodbye to them after they walked to their seperate tour busses and headed to their next destinations.

*Two Days Later*

Everyone had a break from touring as Cody and Alicia waited with Lili for an episode of "The Therapist" with Dr. Siri Sat Nam Singh which was apart of the YouTube channel "Vice." Corey had done an episode before that he recommended Cody should do one too. Cody and Alicia were bonding with Lili in the waiting room until they heard a door open.

Producer: Ok Cody we're ready for you.

Cody looked at Alicia and Lili.

Alicia: Good luck in there Cody. We'll be waiting right here for you.

Cody smiled as Alicia kissed Cody's cheek before he kissed Lili's cheek and went in before he met with Dr. Singh and shook his hand before sitting down in the chair across from Dr. Singh as the cameras started rolling.

Dr. Singh: Ok Cody. This is going to be a simple therapy session. I understand that you have some childhood and early adulthood trauma as well as relationship struggles that you're struggling with.

Cody: Yes. It's been really hard for me to let go as of lately due to recent events.

Dr. Singh: Shall we start with some meanings behind your songs?

Cody nodded.

Dr. Singh: Your recent song, Go To Hell...... you've claimed before that it was about someone in your family that treated you terribly in your life correct?

Cody: Yes. That song was about my biological father. He left me and my biological mom when I was only a baby. My real mom raised me for the first seven years of my life and she did whatever she could to help me through life which was part if the generosity that I have in me. Lots of it in me came from her.

Dr. Singh: Of course. Moms typically have that generosity that's passed down to their children. Did something happen to your biological mom?

Cody nodded again.

Cody: When I was 7, she took a wrong step in the middle of the road and was struck by a bus. She died from her injuries on her way to the hospital. Since then, around the same time was when I was put up for adoption at an orphanage and some of the older kids they had pressured me into taking drugs in which it did help me cope with the pain of losing my biological mom, but for all the wrong reasons.

Dr. Singh: It's true, but the way I see it is that your real mother was always there caring for you and she loved you so much that when she was suddenly taken away from you.... you needed that extra mental cushion to help you cope with her being gone and your father wasn't there when it happened so using those drugs were a way to cope, but like you said for all the wrong reasons and your inner demons were taking over your mind and body like no tomorrow. What were you choices of drugs if you don't mind me asking?

Cody: I was a freak for coke and weed at a young age. Speed, Cigarettes, and Fentanyl didn't come until I was teenager and after partying too hard and overdosing, I woke up in countless roadside ditches and dumpsters.

Dr. Singh: Ditches and dumpsters like.... by the road in dirt and in trash?

Cody: Yeah. Cause those people thought I was dead.

Dr. Singh gasped in shock a bit, but Cody brought the mood back.

Cody: But at that point, you don't consider them as friends.

Dr. Singh: No. Not at all. Those kinds of people shouldn't be considered anything to you really afterwards because of what they did to you.

The session got a little more intense when Dr. Singh asked another question.

Dr. Singh: Do you have any faint memories of your father?

Cody: He physically and mentally abused me because I didn't really officially meet him until I was 21. He killed my bestfriend and he tried to kill me because I had risen to a high level of fame that he was trying to get all the money I've made in these last few years.

Dr. Singh: He tried to kill you?

Cody: Twice. He had pointed a gun to my head a few times before, cut me open with razor blades, he beat me with a leather strap, he even burnt one of my other friend's arm on a hot pipe and forced himself on her.

Dr. Singh took a slight gasp after hearing all of that.

Cody: But when we went to trial, my friend and I won. My real father got the death penalty.

Dr. Singh: Well that's a good thing for you, but ask yourself do you feel better about him getting the death penalty because not everyone feels better about themselves after watching their greatest threat being sentenced to death. I'm only asking because after going through so much pain and trauma, it leaves a permanent scar physically and mentally, but at the same time it never brings back what you have lost.... that being your real mother.

Cody thought about it for a second until he felt a tear roll down his cheek.

Cody: In someway it did make me feel a bit better, but now that you put it that way, my biological mom would've been so furious at him that she should've been the one to help me and my friend sentence him to death, but she was taken so sudden that she couldn't do that either, I mean *sniffs* her death still haunts me to this day and I still have nightmares about it happening. I mean *sniffs* that anger I even used on my adoptive mom, I let it out on her, but that was because I still have that anger built up inside that I almost choked her. I didn't mean to hurt her..... *sniffs* I just miss my biological mom so much it scares me.

Cody lightly began to cry as he wiped the tears off of his cheeks. Once Cody calmed down a bit, the segment got a little more personal when Dr. Singh had a bunch of stuffed animals and spread them around the floor in front of them.

Dr. Singh: Now this is just a little thought exercise that I do with some of my patients with these stuffed animals. Now Cody, I want you to look around the pile of stuffed animals and pick out which one you think best describes everything you've told me so far.

Cody looked around until he spotted one and picked it up, it's a wolf.

Cody: This one stands out to me more.

Dr. Singh: Why the wolf? Why does it stand out to you? What do you think of when you see it?

Cody: Kind of the lone survivor or the lone wolf. I see this wolf as it being lost from it's pack that it's on the search for a new pack to thrive in. I can actually see myself as a wolf because I had been in an orphanage for 10 years until my adoptive mom and two of my adoptive aunts came and adopted me when I was 17 before the orphanage could legally kick me out. After everything we've gone though together, I am now a wolf that has finally found...... his new pack.

Dr. Singh: Interesting presumption. And with my own personal presumption, you kind of see yourself as the wolf who had been rejected by one pack and was left for dead until that wolf found the pack it was meant to be in. That pack being with the women who adopted you and gave you a chance to have a family.

Cody slowly nodded.

Cody: My adoptive mom and adoptive aunts have been my family since then. Those eight women were the main reason why I kept fighting and often times had helped me come to terms and peace against so many of my demons. Now that I'm a husband, a father, and a son to them, my adoptive mom and aunts have been my main supporters through it all. After everything I've done and gone through, I wouldn't trade it for the world. Now that I have a wife and daughter....... they've been added to my list of my biggest supporters. Without them...... I probably wouldn't be here.

Dr. Singh: And that's a great feeling to have. Now that you've found your pack, you can now put your past demons away and have been accepted by people who care for you and your passing that down to the next tier in the bloodline. You as a recent father, Cody, are now teaching your daughter and not just her, but to all of your fans who grew up in similar situations as you, are hearing your story and finding out that they're not alone.... just like you.

Cody lightly smiled and nodded when he felt another tear roll down his cheek until the session was about to end when Dr. Singh pulled out a small bowl with little cards inside it.

Dr. Singh: Now I do a little something with my patients at the end of our sessions where I let them pick one of these angel cards. So go ahead and pick one at random and let's see what fate is trying to tell you.

Cody looked around for a second at all of them until he reached into it and picked one at random when he pulled one out and looked at it. Cody then lightly smiled and felt more tears falling down his cheeks.

Cody: It says "Acceptance". *sniffs* After today, I have accepted who I've become and finally put my demons to rest for good. Thank you much.

Dr. Singh: My pleasure. Now..... let's bring in Alicia and Lili?

The producer gave Alicia the go ahead to come in with Lili when the cameras showed them come in until she gave her to Cody and he held Lili as Alicia smiled and Cody and Alicia hugged.

Cody: Thank you so much again. I really appreciate you seeing me for a session.

Dr. Singh: Of course. And may you go on to continue being accepted by society and going on to be the greatest performer there can be.

Cody nodded as the cameras cut and the episode was finished filming before Cody and Alicia thanked Dr. Singh for everything before the mom and son went out to the tour bus with Lili and went back to the hotel to catch some shuteye before their next tour stop.
