Hasten escape and more blood on the way

Where with Alter unconscious, Geno runs away from Lisbon and returns to the Reapers. The Government however will not take long to reply for all damage and deaths.

No one's POV:
-

He flinched. The pupils inside his eyesockets dissappeared hearing the vibrating voice calling him out. But soon his expression was filled again with madness as he turned to look at Geno approaching him with fast determined steps. Still he didn't let go of Tefra.

His grip had somewhat relaxed though, enough to not choke her to death. Geno stopped in front of Alter and looked up to him clenching his fists. He didn't speak for seconds. Eventually he closed his eyesocket, inhaled and looked at the taller skeleton a little more firmly.

"Put her down." He said. The taller didn't make any move that was indicating he would obey to Geno's words. The siren hissed lightly. "Didn't you hear me?" He asked.

"Gœ đœ yœur thıng ænđ łəævə mə đœ mınə." The tall skeleton replied rolling his eyesockets.

"Yøu'rə førgəttıng yøur płæce." Geno said a little more aggressively, causing the other to chuckle. "Nəxt to me, escorting me to my destiny-."

"Ærə yœu rəæłły thæt đəþənđəđ œn mə? ₩hæt's wrœng, wænt mə tœ hœłđ yœur hænđ œn œur wæy bæck tœ thə þırætəs?" He asked and the way his mouth moved and spoke irritated Geno even more.

The tall skeleton's smile dissappeared. He didn't expect that outburst from the small skeleton. He stared for many seconds at Geno motionless, as if he had gotten electrocuted.

Ŋ Œ ₩

Geno insisted. Finally the taller lowered and put down a half-uncoscious Tefra on the ground, who stumbled and fell backwards coughing. Nevertheless, he almost seemed offended. He opened his mouth ready to say something.

"Knəəł." The smaller prevented him.

At once the other skeleton suddenly found himself being intimidated by Geno, who's expression wasn't allowing him to even try threaten him anymore. In short, he was surprised. But he obeyed silently and came closer to Geno's level, staring at him.

"What is even going on here?" Tefra thought as she watched the 2 skeletons while rubbing her almost burned neck.

Geno walked closer to the taller skeleton and placed hands on his shoulders. He was still angry. He was still annoyed of how his guardian acted. But then he sighed closing his eyesocket for a few seconds.

"A fəw thıngs wərə nəcəssæry tø bə đøne..." He started, opening his eyesocket again. "For my restored eyesight, I thank you. For wanting to defend me also. But you've been bottled up for way too long, weren't you? You wanted so badly to take action that you did more than you should have had..." He sighed. The taller comprehended what he heard as he looked around. He felt Geno's hands on his cheeks and turned to look at him with the same thoughtful expression.

"... ₩hən I fınæłły sæw yœu fœr thə fırst tıme, æt fırst I thœught œf yœu æs ª nınny." He started talking suddenly, seeing Geno's expression changing in wonder. "¥œur frıənđ hœwəvər hæđ mœrə fæıth ın yœu. ¥œu kınđæ þrœvəđ mə wrœng tœđæy." He smiled widely. "I scrəwəđ uþ I guəss. He completed and slowly his smile dropped. Geno waited confused and worried. Suddenly Alter groaned quietly and placed hand on his forehead. He slowly opened his eyesockets and nailed pupils on Geno.

"Alter? Are you... here?" Geno asked hesitant. The priest didn't reply. He raised his head and kept staring at Geno silent. "Say something please, I'm worried." Alter closed his eyesockets.

"... Is it over?" He asked. Geno flinched hearing him talking, but looked at him sad. He nodded. Alter turned his look to all directions. He looked at the burned corpses and the blood and the guts all around him. He stared at Tefra who was accepting help by Pyros and Atalanta (they had silently arrived) and was staring at him terrified. He started shaking as he faced again Geno. Then he looked down. He saw his bloodstained hands and started shaking even harder. "I đıđ thıs... đıđn't I?" He asked and his bottom jaw was shaking hard. Geno tried to console him.

"You weren't yourself Al-." Alter pushed him away gently.

"Đœn't tœuch mə." He said shakily, his eyesockets filled with horror. He fell on his fours and let his head hang. Tears started running nonstopping. "Nø. I wæs stıll mysəlf. I just cøuldn't høld bæck ænymøre." Aside tears, sobs started being heard too from Alter. "I fəlt thæt ıf I løst yøu tøø, I wøuld nəvər førgıvə mysəlf før thə sæmə thıng twıcə." The sobs grew louder. "ßut høw wıll I əvər gət øvər thıs?! Høw? Əvən tø my dəæth, H Œ ₩?!" And finally Alter started crying even louder.

Screaming from the impact of what he had done. Of what he felt, unable to control it. Immense guilt, regret and desperation expressed in his crying. The Infernals and Atalanta stared at him confused and surprised.

It wasn't clear if they felt pity for him. Geno couldn't think of any other time he had seen Alter so broken. He was even more broken than when he saw in his dreams how he had become a siren-blessed guardian.

He understood. Even as part of a pirate crew, Alter fought to remain good and as pure as possible with clear consciousness, not burdened by anything heavy.

And just a while ago, he had just stepped over one of the laws of God he knew himself he wanted to avoid. Did these humans still deserve it? Boy they did. But murder was murder. And Alter had done it.

Geno didn't know what to tell him. He stared, feeling his soul heavy from the sorrow. He watched as his friend was repeating between his sobs "How?", "I'm sorry.", nonstopping. And at the end he pressed his hands on his skull.

"I'łł đıə ª murđərər..."

Suddenly he held his chest and his sobs were cut short. He started coughing aggressively and gushes of blue blood started coming out.

"Oh no!" Geno did, starting to get terrified.

Cracks started appearing at Alter's whole body, which started bleeding too and staining his clothes. He started screaming again, this time from pain and fell on his side spasming and jolting wildly. Someone started clapping slowly behind him. The siren turned his head sharply.

"Wow. What. A. Scene." Calisia said approaching. "I've never heard of a more violent guardian until now. Your friend surely acted like a real freak. But now he has to pay for the consequences of using the blessing upon ones who weren't threatening you anymore." She stopped clapping and let out a sound like a groan. "F*cking mortals. Completely useless. Well, I could still stop you though. So, what should I do with you now that your guardian is dyi-?"

To the present monsters' shock and surprise, a flock of 10 hawks suddenly dived from high above and started attacking Calisia with their claws and beaks. The mermaid fell backwards and started moving trying to get the hawks off her.

"NO YOU DON'T YOU F*CKING B*TCH!" 2 manly voices were heard at the same time. Geno saw Edge and Red running towards the area everyone was.

They abruptly stopped shocked, seeing the chaos. But when they looked at Alter they got serious again. However Pyros stood up on guard and looked at them deciding whether or not to stop them. But Atalanta stood on his way.

"I will explain more to you why, but we must let them leave babe." She said firmly. And while Pyros was staring at her surprised, she looked at the half-mermaid skeletons serious. "Just leave." She said and nodded. The other 2 nodded back and Edge picked up Alter, who was spasming and still bleeding from everywhere. He threw him over his shoulder.

"Come on! Don't just stand here!" Red shook Geno from his shoulder. "Hurry!" His voice snapped Geno back to reality. Silently he started running alongside the other skeletons. The goats and Atalanta stared at them running until they weren't visible anymore.

"We must leave too. Quickly." Atalanta said and without talking, the Infernals agreed to that. They left the area while Calisia's voice hunted them. A murderous scream full of rage.

GƏŊŒCIIIĐƏ!

~

Geno was running between Edge and Red. Many times he would turn to look at the taller who was holding a still bleeding Alter, groaning and barely holding back to scream from pain.

It didn't help with the fast running but then again they couldn't teleport with him this injured. It could harm him way worse at once. Minutes later they finally reached the port and Edge inhaled.

"BALEEEEEN!" He yelled. Geno looked at him confused.

"What didja do?"

"I CALLED A FRIEND TO CARRY US FASTER TO THE REAPERS!"

"What friend?"

"A huge one." Red said scratching his golden tooth. "You'll see soon pigeon."

And indeed, soon Geno heard something like a distant deep moan coming from the depths. He looked in the water and indeed saw something MASSIVE coming close to the surface. Soon that massive something, rose a little out of the surface and let a big jet of water come out from a hole on top of it.

"You brought a whole whale?!" Geno yelped.

"Specifically a grey one." Red added.

"But don't whales hate mermaids because of the wars?"

"Most species do. But we saved this one when it was a calf that got seperated by his momma, so with us trainin' and feedin' him instead of eatin' him, Baleen likes us instead of hatin' us." Geno's eyesocket perked up in interest.

"Wooow." He did.

"HOP ON ALREADY!" Edge yelled who was indeed already on the whale's back and sitting down, still holding Alter. Without wasting any more time, Geno and Red jumped on the whale's back. They sat near Edge, who was now holding Alter's head on his lap stably. He pat Baleen gently 2 times. "FIND THE PIRATE SHIP REAPERS BALEEN!"

The priest was even worse than before. He wasn't pale white, he was becoming grey. Wounds were already on his skull too, he looked like a porcelain statue that was broken, got glued back together, but was still able to break at the slightest hit.

Geno sat closer to him and held his phenomenally fragile hand gently. The other didn't respond to the contact, he kept making struggling sounds of pain. Geno raised head to look at the other 2 skeletons.

"Isn't there anything we can do for him?" He asked.

"What the f*ck happened back there? With the corpses and the blood? Was that his doing?" Red asked staring at Alter with a very concerned expression. Geno explained them the whole story as Baleen was swimming. When he finished, the mermaid brothers looked away.

"IF HE USED THE FLAMES FOR HIS OWN PERSONAL PROBLEMS, HE HAS KILLED HIMSELF!" Edge said slowly but not any less loudly than he used to talk.

"We're sorry Gen. Al was a great friend..." Red said. They were talking as if Alter was already dead! This much they were certain the priest was facing the inevitable. Geno clenched his teeth and placed his other hand on Alter's forehead.

It was burning. Same as the hand the smaller was holding. Hesitant he looked into his friend's soul. His pupil dissapeared. The soul was the same as his whole body: cracked, ready to get shattered. And grey.

"Please Alter, hang in there. Make the impossible, please." Geno shut his eyesocket. "Please, just like how you said you didn't wanna loose me, I don't wanna loose you either. I'm sorry for my behavior before. Please..."

~

I'm sooooo boooreeed." Dave said who was staring to the horizon with his chin resting on his hand.

No sh*t, all pirates were bored more or less. They had stopped putting bets if Geno and Alter would make it back alive or not and just trying to find out what to do while waiting for them to be back.

"Are you worried Andrés?" Reaper asked the Alsatian dog. The 2 were sitting on the tallest mast, staring to the horizon and talking.

"Worrying sounds way to soft. I don't know what they're doing. I just believe in the priest's abilities. He'll be fine. As for the little sh*t, I couldn't care less." He said indifferent.

There it was again. Reaper felt it.

Everytime someone was calling Geno a bad name or cursing him, he was feeling his chest slightly hurting from anger. Even if it was Ramirez, who was generally calling names everyone, sometimes he couldn't help but just think about murder.

He started realising that was happening about 1 or 2 weeks ago. Long before he even danced with Geno when he went to the marriage the monsters of Lisbon had. Speaking of which, Ramirez didn't like at all but didn't comment much on it.

"GUYS A WHALE!" A pirate yelled excited and the whole deck started boiling from the excited steps of the crewmembers who gathered near the one side of the ship to see that whale.

"¿Vas a dejar que lo maten?" Ramirez asked. Reaper huffed cheerfully.

"The mates will need to relax a lil' bit. Why not?" He said and chuckled.

"WHERE ARE THE F*CKING HARPOONS?!"

"Sweet mother of Hispania, they act worse than actual animals." Ramirez said sarcastically. Reaper didn't reply and just looked at the whale approaching- wait a minute, why was it approaching like that towards the ship?! Something was wrong.

"What the..." Reaper stood on the mast with perfect balance and quickly got out of his coat's pocket his little telescope.

"Sir?" Ramirez asked. Reaper looked through the telescope.

He could see a large grey whale coming closer and closer, swimming with its back on the surface. Why reveal itself like that and swim towards the ship? It wasn't even trying to sneak up on the pirates and swimming fast! Was it going for a direct attack?!

Reaper focused so he could see a little further through the glass. Both his eyesockets went empty. There were 4 figures sitting on the back of the boar. He ran and jumped off the mast, further away from the ship.

Mid air he summoned a blaster and stood on it. He started flying towards the whale, still looking through the telescope. When he got close enough he froze. He slowly put the telescope back in his pocket.

"Oooh no..." He thought and turned the blaster around returning to the ship. "EVERYONE STOP IMMEDIATELY! DON'T KILL THIS WHALE!" He yelled, catching off guard all pirates and causing them to start complaining. But Reaper quickly answered. "Geno and Alter are on the whale! Throw even a toothpick at the animal and I'll cut your arms!"

"THEY'RE COMING BACK?!"

The pirates gave up on the weapons and other stuff for the whale and looked at it approaching, waiting to see the skeletons arriving. Reaper looked up panicked.

"RAMIREZ!" He watched as the doctor was coming down the mast fast and soon standing next to him.

"What's the matte-?"

"Bring up immediately the first aid!"

"Why, is your garfish hurt?" Ramirez was ready to start being sarcastic.

"It is not about him now! I sensed something wrong with Alter! He's injured. YOU'RE STILL HERE?!" He snapped.

Ramirez looked at the direction of the whale coming and hurried to go to the medical bay and grab all necessary for first aid. Reaper looked at the whale coming closer and clenched his teeth tightly.

When much closer to the ship, the animal swam sideways and stopped next to the gunwale, as close as possible so the 4 skeletons could jump in the ship.

"MOVE ASIDE!" The mermaid brothers yelled as they layed Alter down gently. The priest by the second was groaning louder and not just holding his chest, but gripping it, seeming almost ready to rip it off his body. The pirates looked at him shocked.

"What happened to him?!"

"Is he ok?!"

"WHERE THE HELL IS RAMIREZ?!"

"On my way." Ramirez was heard and everyone stepped aside for the alsatian to approach Alter.

Æ Æ Æ Æ Æ Æ Æ Æ Æ Æ Æ Æ Æ H

The scream the priest let out caused everyone to shut their ears. A few fainted by how loudly he screamed. Alter started spasming even harder. Blood had started coming out of his mouth again and he had started hitting his head down on the wooden floor of the deck.

"Doc, ya can't do anything. He ain't gonna heal. Siren magic. He used it the wrong way. Sooner or later he will face the inevitable." Red said. Ramirez looked at the short skeleton with a cold expression, comprehending his words.

"Even if that is the case, I am a doctor. I am required to try until the very end. I will determine if he dies and when. Muere cuando yo digo que muere, piraña." He said calmly and focused on Alter again by keeping his head motionless and not allowing him to keep hitting it on the floor. "MICHAEL COME HERE AND HELP!" He called. Geno looked at the grumpy dog. Even if he didn't want to, deep down momentarily he felt admiration that Ramirez was willing to fight against siren magic and try save Alter from it.

If Alter was their only problem, it wouldn't be so pressuring for everyone. But more bad luck was awaiting the Reapers.

"PORTUGUESE CARAVELS! PORTUGUESE CARAVELS ON OUR BACK!"

Everyone's blood froze hearing one of the crewmembers screaming these ominous sentences. The pirates turned their attention to the open sea. Much to everyone's terror, a fleet of 10 caravels was indeed coming their way.

"We can't waste anymore time with them. LIFT THE ANCHOR Ŋ Œ ₩ !" Reaper commanded. Not like he needed to. All pirates started running around preparing the ship to sail and get away as soon as possible.

"They must have followed Baleen." Red said and clenched his fists angered. "Or maybe that b*tch told them to follow him and they would also get to the Reapers."

"What are we gonna do?!" Geno asked.

"We take our sh*t and leave obviously!" Dave yelled who happened to hear the small skeleton asking.

"And if they catch up with us?"

"Brace yourself Mr. Geno. If that happens, fight. And pray." Markus said then and ran to do something else to prepare the ship.

~

"Lord Vincent!"

The small mermaid jumped in the lugger out of breath, after swimming from Lisbon to somewhere in the open sea.

"Hmmm, that little sickly sack of bones is here."

"Language." Bernard whispered and approached the little skeleton who couldn't stand up, obviously because of the tail. He kneeled near him. "Decans, what is going on? Why are you here?"

"I know! I disobeyed your commands! I'm sorry! But it's urgent! I-!" Decans started coughing and fell on his back holding his chest.

"Calm down and tell me everything from the beginning." Bernard said and waited.

Seconds later Decans started revealing everything. How Raymond's assault towards the monsters had failed thanks to the secret book of laws about the monsters, how Calisia appeared and exposed Alter and Geno, how the humans started hunting them. Decans had ran away. But then a bird-spy revealed him something unpleasant:

The Government had gotten information that the 2 runaway pirates had escaped from the sea on a whale's back with 2 other skeletons who appeared to be from the Red Fangs and sended after them a fleet of 10 caravels to hunt them down. They had managed to follow the animal and found the ship of Reapers.

"They're going to kill him! They're going to kill the chosen! They're doomed! We're doomed!" Decans kept rumbling panicked.

"Boo hoo. I can almost pretend that I feel sorry for these other sacks of bones. Just kidding."

"Not now." Bernard whispered.

"Did you say something Master?" Decans asked confused.

"Yes son." Bernard said and stood up. He looked at the steersman of the lugger. "Send a bird or fish to find the direction the caravels took. We're going after them."

"What are we supposed to do there?!" Decans yelped. "They are 10 caravels full of armed soldiers and we are a small lugger with 3 members!"

"Four."

"Do as I say and please listen to me for this time." Bernard insisted, kindly and calmly rubbing on Decans' face his disobedience. Decans sighed and proceeded to call a seagull.

"What's your plan?"

"I have no plan. But I trust the Lord will help us."

"One of these days, "The Lord" is going to turn a blind eye on you and you'll doom us all."

"If you believe, you live. If you let fear clench your soul you die."

"And you're not afraid one bit?" Bernard hummed cheerfully.

"Fear is natural. It can't be helped. But I believe more than I fear. I allow this emotion to exist, I aknowledge it, but not letting it control me."

"And you let stupidity guide you then? You're just like Alter."

"Great minds think and act alike."

"Ugh, I can't even with you. If it wasn't for the deal we had, I would just leave."

"You're free to go everywhere you like."

"I shut up. You're way too stupid for me to handle."

"A seagull found them!" Decans announced who's tail was slowly turning to legs again and from yellow turning white.

"Selene, follow the seagull." Bernard commanded the steersman, or rather steerswoman, a dark blue troll with big nose and ears.

"Yes my Lord." She said.

"Nevermind, I can't, tell me again what are you exactly planning to do?"

"I thought you didn't want to talk with me anymore."

"Shut up and tell me."

"But now you said-."

"I SWEAR TO GOD I'LL RIP YOUR SOUL OUT OF YOUR BODY RIGHT THIS INSTANT!" Bernard chuckled.

"Patience, it's not the time yet."

"Will you tell me now?"

"We follow the caravels for now. I have a feeling that something will happen however, that will make things easier for us to approach."

"You're really actually scaring me sometimes when your premonitions come true and I am soulless."

"This is called faith and trust towards the Lord friend."

"Who is he talking to?" Decans thought confused, who could see Bernard's mouth moving but was talking nor to him, nor to Selene.

~

Panic. Absolute panic.

Alter was suffering, Ramirez and Michael were above him trying to ease his pain and save him, the pirates were all running around screaming and yelling instructions, all while 10 caravels were up their *ss.

And in all that panic Geno was just standing and staring with an empty look at the Portuguese sailing after them. Paralysed. Feeling suddenly again unable to act. Think. Maybe even feel. Only shock. And a fear that was clenching his soul.

While the pirates were arming themselves with weapons, he kept standing.

While Ramirez was fighting to keep Alter alive, he kept standing.

While everyone panicked loudly, he panicked in silence.

They couldn't take down 10 caravels. Even for the standards of the Reapers, it seemed as a situation better resolved by avoiding it. He didn't know what to do. He felt powerless. There was no one by his side to guide him.

Somebody to tell him what to do, encourage him, fill him with more bravery. Even Edge and Red were helping around the ship. Geno's look fell again on Alter. He could have sworn that his face had opened even more wounds. He was still jolting and spasming.

"He's like this because of me." Geno thought and lowered his head.

"He sacrificed so much for you."

"He advised and guided you."

"He protected you."

"He even comitted murder for your sake."

"And now he's dying."

Because

of

you

A pirate bumbed into him upon the panic and Geno fell down. He didn't try to get up again and just stayed down. He closed his eyesocket, his guilt ready to consume him whole.

~

"Am I killing our son?"

He was about 5 years old then. He was eavesdropping on Stephan and CQ, who were talking in their bedroom. His dad had his face on his palms, shaking. CQ was just staring at him with a sad expression.

"You aren't, Stephan."

"My mortal side is colliding with yours inside him. They're fighting. They cause him to be ill often. Our boy Geno is suffering because of m-."

"Us both."

"My side gave him weak genes and yours doesn't allow cooexistence with it."

"We both made him love. We both 'infected' him. Don't take the blame on yourself."

"What are we going to do CQ?" Stephan sobbed. "I won't bare it if he dies."

"He will not love."

"What if the same illness is on our other boys too but not showing themselves directly?" CQ hugged him. Stephan hugged back. "I feel like a terrible parent for not feeling mentally strong to keep supporting Geno through every illness. I feel like I just can't. Forgive me."

"You're not a terrible parent." CQ said calmly and looked somewhere on the wall behind Stephan. She sighed. "There is something else about Geno. Not just our sides causing him to be sick."

"How do you know?" The skeleton asked sniffing loudly.

"I studied the illnesses landlubbers have. Human and monster ones. I've observed the symptoms on Geno. I saw patterns. I found similiarities." CQ looked at Stephan firmly. "He has the scarlet illness Stephan." She said. The skeleton's eyesockets went empty. He pressed hands on the sides of his skull.

"No no no. You're joking."

"I'm not." CQ sighed. "I've been studying illnesses and diseases for decades Stephan. I know when I say that our boy is special."

"In what matter special CQ?"

"You might think that a 3rd disease is trying to kill our son. But listen to me. I know, I can feel it, our natures are fighting the scarlet illness and the other way around." Stephan was listening surprised but with disbelief. "I don't know why or how, but when our natures become unstable and Geno falls ill, the illness becomes active and keeps them at bay. And when it overgrows, charges and overpowers in our son's body, our natures fight back until they bring him to a stable condition." She placed her hands on Stephan's cheeks. "Our son might not show it now, but he has special powers inside him. Until his body learns to stabilise our natures and the illness, he will fall ill. He will suffer. But he will not die."

"And when will his suffering be over CQ? Is it even worth living in so much pain the biggest part of your life? He is 5!"

"More are awaiting him than just pain." CQ said pressing her lips together firmly. "But our boy will grow strong. What is his pain and suffering now, will become his greatest power in the future. The sirens, my people, they studied for millenials about what the humans call the scarlet illness. For years they tried to unfold its secrets and what determines its appearance in one's body. They don't call it an illness. They say it's a power, but that it kills a healthy monster's body and favors a sick one as a rare protection mechanism. It is what will protect our son but not kill him."

It is what will save him from falling into the paralysis of fear and indecisiveness.

It is what will turn the tides to his favor even if it doesn't seem like it.

And it will ignite his soul with power unable for many to handle when he will love deeply and care for others in need and danger, aside his family.

~

Geno slowly stood up. He looked again at the caravels. He realised they were much closer. They were catching up actually. Huh.

"For f*ck's sake, SOMEBODY COME AND GIVE ME MORE CLOTHS, HE KEEPS BLEEDING!" Ramirez barked as he looked around angrily. Geno looked at his friend, still suffering, still struggling to live.

Raymond Aristooo~

He learneeed the news~

He got angry becauuuse a singleee skeleton eliminateeed thoseee soldiers~

His eeego finally greeew fat enouuugh to makeee him comeee ouuut of hiding~

Plus his hatreeed for skeletons~

And now~

He follooows the skeleton who dareeed defy the poweeer of Portugal~

He's amongst theseee humans~

In oneee of theseee ships~

Geno's iris dissapeared. What did the wind just say?!

Raymond was after the Reapers.

He was after... Alter.

He recalled how the priest told him Raymond had a special hatred for skeletons.

But he wasn't just after any skeleton.

He was after Alter.

His support.

His protector and guardian.

His friend.

Whether or not Raymond knew who he was hunting, he was after Alter. His Alter. The one human who had destroyed his life and had almost killed him. The siren suddenly realised, he knew.

He wasn't going to let that happen.

And he wasn't going to be merciful about it either.

Suddenly he felt confident. He felt certain, that whatever would happen, he knew how to handle it. What a strange feeling, but it was interesting.

"Here." He said as he offered to Ramirez... his scarf and white jacket! The dog looked at him with raised eyebrows. "You asked for cloths. Take 'em."

Ramirez took the scarf and jacket, still staring at Geno. But quickly he focused on stopping Alter bleeding from a deep wound on his leg. Geno kneeled and lowered his forehead on the priest's. He pressed it gently and placed his hands on the other's cheeks.

"Please hang in there for me, with me." He said softly. But when he stood up, he sharply turned with clenched fists.

And while everyone was panicking, with firm, brave steps he walked towards the tallest mast and started climbing it. When he was on the highest spot, after the crow's nest, he walked confidently and stood on the edge.

He stared at the caravels with a grim expression and a glowing eyesocket. Slowly he waved his hand near his melted eyesocket and made the cloud dissapear. He remained with both eyesockets uncovered.

"At first, I was afraid, I was afraid..." He sang out loud and paused for a moment, closing his eyesokets.

"What is the fishstick doing?" Dave asked, who had observed in the panic Geno's behavior.

"Down in the darkness, I was crawling through the human race..."

"Is he singing?!" Another pirate asked.

"I heard the voices through the dark..."

"Seriously?!"

"Great. We are persuaded and he decided to sing moments before our deaths." Ramirez commented without taking his eye off Alter.

"... Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh."

"Uuuh, guys?" Michael asked as he looked somewhere in the horizon. Everyone followed his look and saw an army of many many many many many birds, mainly seagulls, flying towards the pirate ship, then following it as it kept sailing.

"Look in the water!" Another pirate alerted. Everyone looked down.

Near the ship, aside Baleen the whale, sharks and other fishes, big and small, predators and not, were following the ship closely. The pirates all looked again up to Geno. He was staring again at the caravels, almost glaring. He hit with his left hand his chest.

"So I beat my fist against my chest, against my soul..." He sang and paused for longer. But then slowly, with the hand he had hit his chest he moved it and pointed towards the caravels. "¡Pájaros!" He called. Every single bird that was flying near the ship squawked and chirped to his call. Geno's eyesocket daggered.

"¡Ataca a cualquier humano que veas!"

The next thing that followed made everyone loose their sh*t.

"Você está vendo o que estou vendo?" A Portuguese soldier asked from the lead caravel that was further ahead than the other ships, pointing in the sky shocked.

"Doce mãe de Deus, que tipo de truque é esse?" Another soldier said as shocked as the first.

"Esses pássaros estão voando em nossa direção!" A third one said with wide open eyes. "Acho que eles vão nos atacar!"

And indeed, the birds suddenly dived from above and started attacking any human they were seeing. Pecking, biting, scratching. The soldiers didn't know how to fight against this impossible attack.

They couldn't even take out their weapons without their hands get aggressively pecked. Even worse, the birds would sometimes fly again up, only to sh*t on the heads of the soldiers, disgusting them and making them desperate.

"¡Abre agujeros y hunde sus barcos!" Geno yelled louder and the birds responded to his message. "¡Peces!" The smol ordered next crossing his arms. All fishes, predators and not, jumped out of the water, as for Baleen he let out a whistle. Geno's expression darkened. "Cualquier ser humano que caiga al agua, es tuyo para que te des un festín. ¡I R!" He hissed loudly.

The pirates watched the fishes swimming towards the caravels. Shocked they watched as they would attack and devour the soldiers who upon their attempt to get away from the birds would fall in the water, turning the surface red.

"Guys, Geno is saving us!" Michael yelped looking up to Geno surprised and hopeful.

"Tch." Geno did ignoring what he heard. He watched the chaos before him and yet, unlike the other pirates, he wasn't satisfied or happy. But he knew how to make it worse. He inhaled deeply and placed his hands near his mouth. "BAaaleEEn!" He called kind of melodically and deeply. The whale came again close to the ship. The siren took a deep breath.

I know what you're trying to do~

And you shall be reminded~

That you can't leave without the necklace~

Geno grinned. Wickedly.

"And I ain't goin' anywhere. I ain't slipping from my destiny. I will just have some fun~" He replied quietly to the annoying voices that would once remind him that he couldn't get away from the necklace. Geno closed his eyesocket and then to the pirate's surprise they saw him jumping off the mast on the whale's back.

"Where are you going?!" Reaper was heard asking surprised.

"Going to humiliate some humans." Geno turned confidently and waved at Reaper. "Don't worry love, I ain't goin' anywhere. I'll catch up with ya~" He said and turned to face again the caravels. "By the way, give me some inspiration. Maybe a good beat will do. I feel "singy" today! Ir Baleen!" He saidout loud and the whale started swimming towards the enemy ships.

*song I'm dangerous, by The Everlove intensifies*

Reaper stared surprised at Geno as he took off. What was that sudden burst of confidence and bravery? What was he thinking?!

Baleen approached the first caravel and bumped purposely on it with Geno's command. The siren jumped and hang from ropes on the sides of the enemy ship. He held onto them and climbed, never loosing his smile. And then he started singing.

At first, I was afraid, I was afraid
Down in the darkness, I was crawling through the human race

With an impressive leap, Geno stepped on the deck of the caravel. He watched as 3 soldiers started running towards him holding swords.

I heard the voices through the dark (oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
So I beat my fist against my chest, against my soul

He went directly towards the one of the 3 soldiers who was closer to him and slid beneath his feet. Then he spinned like a little tornado and swipped him off, making him fall down groaning. And then the birds started bullying him. The 2nd soldier swung his sword vertically and the siren avoided him by taking a step back.

Hey-ho! Hear the sound
We are the underground

The sword got stuck on the wooden floor and before the soldier could pull it out, Geno jumped on the handle of the weapon. He jumped again, did a backflip and with his foot hit the soldier on his chin causing him to fall uncoscious. And eat bullying by the birds.

Hey-ho! Rising up
We're not afraid of fighting

Geno landed succesfully on his feet and didn't even wait for the 3rd soldier to come at him. He directly went to attack him and the soldier swung his sword at him. The skeleton responded by summoning a long bone in his hands and blocking the attack.

I've finally found my place
I put the war paint on my face

He stood his ground firmly and managed to push back the soldier with the bone. In the little time the human lost his balance, it was enough for Geno to move the bone like a spear and pressed it fast and abruptly on his opponent's chest.

And I'm ready to give (hey!)
Whatever it takes

The soldier stepped back holding his chest but stumbled on the ship's gunwale and fell backwards in the water. Geno turned to look behind him as 2 more soldiers ran towards him.

Standing at the edge of the fire

He jumped on top of the gunwale and started walking on it casually with opened arms. No matter how many times the humans swung their swords at him, he would always avoid by jumping and bending. Suddenly he fell backwards.

Fighting for the will to survive

Surprised, the soldiers stood close to the gunwale and looked down to see where had the skeleton fallen. Little did they know, Geno held himself from 2 ropes that although thick were elastic enough for him to momentarily fall and instead of staying down, their elasticity brought him back up again.

I feel it burning under my bones

He had fallen with his head closer to the water and his feet in the air. When he came back up, each foot found a soldier on their faces and left them uncoscious. The siren flew in the air, did a backflip and landed on the deck on his feet again.

And I'm back on my feet again

He looked around him excited, to locate any other soldiers. They had whether fallen into the water, whether had gone to hide in the bottom of the ship. The skeleton ran to the helm and broke it with his bare hands.

The birds then announced him that they had succesfully managed to open holes on the caravel. The ship was now useless. Geno grinned wider and even more wickedly as he looked at the other 9 portuguese ships.

This is the feeling, I can't believe it

He ran to the sterncastle of the one he was on and jumped high to the next caravel.

My soul is bleeding out, now I'm dængərøus

The humans of the ship he jumped onto saw him coming at them fast and confidently, momentarily finding themselves unable to react. Geno laughed as he attacked them and knocked them out.

Feeding the fire, higher and higher
Rising up, rising up, nøw I'm đængərøus

"He is amazing!"

"Could he always do that?!"

"10 ships against him and he goes to face them all by himself!"

The pirates were commenting shocked, seeing Geno defeating the enemies as if he was on a casual walk.

"I'm sorry, but if he can by himself, why can't we?!" Dave asked out loud and all pirates looked at him. "Seriously, what the f*ck, we are the Reapers and we let one little fishstick take care of the enemies?!" His crewmates shouted in agreement. Reaper looked at them all being filled with boldness and bravery, at first surprised and then he smiled. He looked to the direction of the caravels.

"He is something truly special." He thought. He looked around at the pirates. "Do you want me to stir the ship around men?!" He asked out loud.

"There is no way we don't give the portuguese dogs a piece of us while the siren does that already. Do it Captain!" A pirate yelled and all others expressed out loud that they agreed.

Meanwhile Geno kept fighting bravely any soldiers who were standing on his way. With the help of the birds he was causing the humans to fall in the water and when he would call, Baleen would bump the caravels, causing the soldiers to fall in all places.

By himself, Geno had emptied 5 caravels from soldiers almost, destroyed their helms and left them with holes on the bottom thanks to the birds, to sink. However by going ahead by himself he eventually raised the awereness of the other soldiers on the other caravels.

"The King isn't going to be happy one bit when he hears that a little skeleton is destroying us."

"Forget the King and worry more about Lord Raymond, he is going to do a lot worse for hearing a skeleton is messing us up!"

"A skeleton siren!"

"Hurry up and kill him then men!"

"Vincent, you will not believe what the seagulls are telling me!" Decans said impressed and excited as the lugger was still sailing to the direction of the caravels.

"What are they saying?"

"Geno! It's amazing! He's taking down the caravels with the help of animals! He has already destroyed 5 by himself!"

"Actually interesting."

"You told me that I wouldn't believe what you've heard. Then why do I find myself believing anyways?" Bernard commented and crossed himself 3 times. "May you manage to find mercy-."

"What are you doing you idiot, that little sack of fishbones is getting rid of parasites and you're praying upon them?!"

"Bad or not, they still come from the Lord." The half human replied calmly.

Silence the voices in my head
I picked my poison now, I'll drink it to the bitter end

Geno was on the 6th caravel and had kept fighting bravely all humans coming at him, never stopping singing. This time the humans seemed to try do teamwork to get him. As much as their awereness had grown, so had the small skeleton's. He had gotten a little more serious and being a lot more on guard.

Hey-ho! Hear me now!
I take on the darkness by myself-

Before he could prevent to react however, at some point suddenly a soldier shot at him, with a special weapon, a net. It caught Geno completely and threw him on the floor.

He started struggling, even tried to bite the net to no avail. But it was pointless. Before the soldiers could react however something or someone, like a moving shadow ran amongst them fast and sharply.

"'Cause I'm ready to give, hey! Whatever it takes!" A familiar voice continued the lyrics for Geno before getting trapped in the net.

The soldiers fell down dead and a few of them decapitated. To the siren's surprise, he got help to get off the nets. When he looked up, he saw Reaper offering him his hand to stand up. Without thinking much, Geno accepted the help and faced Reaper, who smiled wider.

"Ya did something to my men. Now they don't wanna miss the fun." He said. Indeed, now the ship of the Reapers, instead of getting away was close to the caravels.

Most of them had jumped on the enemy ships and fighting the soldiers wildly while others were controlling the cannons and firing at the Portuguese. Reaper turned to face ahead as more soldiers were running at him and Geno. The siren faced them too and his left eyesocket glowed in blue and red. He smiled again.

Standing at the edge of the fire
I don't know how I ever survived

Secretly Reaper looked for a moment at Geno as he kept singing. And they both attacked.

I feel it burning under my bones
And now I'm back on my feet again

The siren and the pirate Captain stood back to back.

This is the feeling

Geno sang as he fought his way around the soldiers like he was dancing.

I can't believe it

Reaper sang next as he swinged his scythe taking lives.

My soul is bleeding out, now I'm dangerous

Upon the heat of the battle, with them singing alternatively, they couldn't help but exchange glances. Reaper seemed excited and more confident, while Geno however remained serious but getting along with him and working in perfect sync.

Feeding the fire, higher and higher

Rising up, rising up, now

We're dangerous

They sang together the last lyric and looked at each other in agreement. The soldiers seemed to loose it more and more with every second passing seeing these 2, the mighty Captain Reaper and a little siren unheard of until now, fighting alongside and taking down with ease anyone who was on their way. While singing!

This is the feeling, I can't believe it

Suddenly all pirates, to the humans, Reaper and Geno's surprise, they started singing, while in perfect coordination and impossible skills were slaughtering the soldiers and destroying the caravels.

My soul is bleeding out, now I'm dangerous
Feeding the fire, higher and higher
Rising up, rising up, now we're dangerous

With every caravel destroyed, the pirates were fighting with even more energy. When they were on the 9th caravel, near the end of destroying it too, they sang again. This time the lovebir- *COUGH* *COUGH* Reaper and Geno united their voices with the other monsters'.

We're dangerous!
(Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)
Rising up, rising up, now

We're dangerous

At the end they had stayed alone with the destroyed caravels and a few human corpses scattered on deck. The monsters screamed in triumph and celebrated this incredible success. Reaper and Geno were just standing facing each other. Silent. Blood was splattered on Geno's clothes and he had a stain on his cheek.

But in Reaper's eyes, in a macabre, gruesome way, even after the battle, he found the siren even more amazing and beautiful. His view was blocked by Michael who asked to talk with him.

"Yes Michael?" He asked hiding his dissapointment and annoyance.

"Doctor Ramirez told me to ask everyone loot the med bays of the ships. They can loot whatever they want, but he requires especially medical supplies." That reminded Geno,

"Is Alter ok?" He asked, his serious expression changing to concern. The human looked at him.

"He has fallen into a comatose state. Or as monsters call it, in fallen down state. Ramirez still tries his best to keep his body together and reawaken him. That's why he requires us to find more medicine from the caravels before they completely sink." He said.

"Very well." Reaper said and walked ahead, starting to command his men to find medicines. Geno stared at him leaving thoughtful.

It's not over~

That coward pig Raymond is escaping on the last caravel~

He's the oneee who has to pay for what he has doneee~

The soldiers might wereee doing bad things, but they wereee controlleeed and threateneeed to obey that cruel human~

If thereee is anyoneee at fault for the monsters' suffering, that is Raymond~

Get him~

Geno turned sharply to look far away. Indeed upon the chaos, the caravel that was behind all the other ones had turned around and was escaping like, 🎶F*ck this sh*t I'm out🎶.

Geno clenched his fists. He walked towards the gunwale and looked at the ship escaping. He hissed lightly. It wasn't over. The wind was right. It wasn't over.

He looked behind him one more time to see if anyone was paying attention to him. Once he made sure no one was looking at him, he quickly jumped off the gunwale and fell in the water.
