Sailor May!
I hope you guys are happy. You made me feel bad holding a one shot back because I actually had more time to write another thing so I would be more on top of things, but you got me this time. Anyways, this is a Sailor Moon alternate universe with pokemon characters so I hope you enjoy it and that it's not too confusing if you've never seen Sailor Moon.

"Oh no! I'm sooooo late!!!" May screamed as she woke up to her screeching alarm clock. She had repeatedly snoozed it, but now she had 10 minutes until school started! There was no way she was going to make it now. She threw on her clothes quickly and brushed her teeth with her left hand while shoving her bandana on her head with her right.
She grabbed her bag from her room and skipped some steps going down the stairs, but she slipped on the last step and fell on her butt. She let out a cry in pain before getting up and grabbing her lunch her mom had oh so kindly packed for her. She salvaged an apple from the fridge and raced to the door to slip on her shoes before throwing open the door and racing to school.
She stumbled several times on her way but she hadn't fallen yet. Then, as if fate decided to hate her even more, she crashed right into the chest of the arrogant and stuck up Drew Hayden. They had an awful relationship, filled with pointless bickering and making fun of each other. Everybody else didn't understand how they didn't get along. Their friends were even dating each other but for some reason despite what everybody else hoped, May and Drew were like a match and kerosene. They exploded around each other.
"Ugh, stupid Bandana Brain, I was hoping not to get a bruise from you today, but it seems you just can't help ruining my day," Drew sighed as he stood up and dusted himself off.
"Stop calling me Bandana Brain, you arrogant, stuck up, jerk!" May spat.
"Well maybe if you didn't wear a bandana, you wouldn't be a Bandana Brain," Drew shrugged.
"Maybe if you had some human decency, you wouldn't be a jerk!" May glared at him. Suddenly, May heard the bell ringing, indicating that school started.
"Great! Now I'm late because of you!" May accused him.
"You're not a very responsible senior, you have to graduate this year you know," he teased.
"Oh yeah? Well, even if you're in college oh smart one, you still pick on a high school girl! Even if you're only a freshman," May said before moving past him to head to school. She stuck her tongue out at him and he laughed.
May was still fuming by the time she got to class. Then she got a tardy from Miss Roxanne. Her dad was not going to be happy to hear about her being late again either, even if it was homeroom. She was so ready to graduate and not have her dad as one of her teachers. Suddenly, she felt a gentle tap on her arm. It was Dawn Berlitz, one of her best friends.
"What's got you all angry?" She whispered to her, concerned.
"Ugh, that stupid jerk again! I ran into him on the way here. He made me late!" May said, her face burning red in anger. Dawn giggled softly.
"Thanks for the support, just laugh at your friend," May rolled her eyes.
"I just don't understand why you and Drew don't get along! If you two tried, you could have such a meaningful friendship with each other," Dawn said. May made a gagging sound at the suggestion.
"No way, no way that would ever happen," May said.
"You never know," Dawn shrugged.
After first period, May and Dawn met Iris in the hallway. May told her what happened that morning with Drew.
"Ugh, honestly you two, you're such kids, get over your differences and be civil, you're so embarrassing to everybody else in the group!" Iris said, scolding her. May winced in response.
"I don't know, everytime I see him, my mind just goes blank and all I can do is just insult and fight him," May explained, not truly understanding it herself. "It feels like a part of me is reluctant to know him, like I'll find something about myself I'm not ready for yet, it's hard to explain," She said. Suddenly, the three of them were attacked from behind by a huge hug.
"Oh Iris, you're so harsh! And May, you think too much! I say the two of you just need to get over yourselves and make out already or something!" Serena exclaimed. May's face heated up in embarrassment this time.
"Do you even hear yourself speaking? You're crazy!" May said to her friend.
"With Drew geez, I don't know, you two are pretty aggressive towards each other. Do you need me to beat him up for you May? I got my mallet," Misty said, appearing next to her. She had been walking with Serena. But right now, Serena was horrified.
"Oh no no no Misty! This is my specialty, I am the goddess of love! Besides, I can feel the romantic tension pouring off of them in waves, it's too hard for even me to take sometimes!" Serena explained.
"Cool it Serena, you're way too V-Babe right now," Iris scolded her. Iris was good at that.
"Well duh! I'm always V-Babe!" Serena frowned at Iris's comment.
"Well I think V-Babe needs to calm down right now, otherwise she could expose us all," Dawn said coolly. All the girls sighed.
May had math with Misty next so the two of them had to split from the main group first with waves of goodbye.
"Seriously, if you need me to mallet him I will!" Misty said. May laughed.
"No, that's not needed. I don't want another reason for him to be mad and dig at me,"
"If you say so..." Misty said, making it clear that anytime May needed somebody to be malleted, Misty had her back.
"How are things with Ash?" May asked as they set their bags down and sat at their desks.
"Oh, we're fine, he's just always upset that you and Drew can't get along, after all, you're his cousin, and Drew's his best friend," Misty said, finally serious and out of mallet mode.
"Ugh, I feel bad, you and the girls and the boys are all doing so well in your relationships, but Drew and I are the oddballs. It's not that we just aren't interested in each other like that, it's that we can't be around each other without fighting," May sighed.
"You know, I think I agree with Serena," Misty said. May's eyes widened in surprise.
"What?" She asked, surprised.
"I think that you two have so much tension from the attraction you have for each other that you just don't know what to do with it and you take it out on each other," Misty said confidently. May was dumbstruck. She didn't know what to say to that.
"Just think about it for awhile, okay?" Misty smiler comfortingly at her.
"I'm not attracted to hi-" May suddenly thought about it. Those alluring emerald eyes and his perfectly tousled green hair. He was tall and had a lean build, but he had a fair amount of muscle. She had seen him without his shirt when they all would go to the pool over the summer and he had some really nice abs and oh no, it turns out she was very much attracted to him. Misty gave her a knowing look.
"Okay, just because I'm attracted to someone doesn't mean I like them. He's a jerk! Plus I like Tuxedo Mask," May said, trying to discredit it all.
"Yeah, but face it, we don't know anything about Tuxedo Mask, yes he's not our enemy, but we've never really had the chance to even talk to him, and neither have you. He scoops you up and saves you and doesn't say a whole lot," Misty said. "However, you do know Drew. You don't have the best relationship right now, but it's all there. You just need that one spark and I think you two will go crazy for each other," Misty said confidently. May hid her face in her arms.
"Oh my gosh, this is not good," she squeaked. Her heart was pounding abnormally fast.
"Good morning class!" Said Mr. Wattson with his booming voice.
May had English with Iris next, but it was uneventful because she just droned on the whole time, chastising May and Drew for being childish, but as the senshi of Mars, chastising was what she did best. May tuned her out not long after she started.
Next was science with Serena. Also unfortunately, her dad taught that class.
"Honestly though, I think you should consider what I said. I'm telling you, he-" Serena was cut off.
"Are you talking about a boy?" Norman said, hovering over them. Serena went pale.
"N-No sir! I was just telling May about my boyfriend that's all!" He narrowed his eyes at Serena suspiciously.
"Ugh! Go away Dad! You're the worst!" May grumbled. Norman's face fell and he sadly made his way up to the front of the room. "He's so overly emotional," May complained to Serena. She just nodded her head in agreement, trying to fight the adrenaline that had risen in her body instinctively.
Then it was finally lunch. The girls met outside in their usual spot which was typically quiet and void of many people so it was safe to talk about anything there.
"Are you going to tell them? Because if not I will," Misty said, prompting May to explain her revelation before math class.
"Ugh fine! I'm actually really attracted to Drew," she said, getting quieter as she went along. Serena squealed.
"I knew it! This is why I'm Sailor Venus! I can tell love when I see it!" She said proudly.
"V-Babe calm down stop being a kid," Iris said. Misty whipped out her mallet.
"If I hear you say Kid again in the next 10 minutes I will hit you with my mallet!" She threatened.
"This is why you got expelled from your last school Jupiter, calm down," Dawn said. "And Moon, what about Tuxedo Mask?" She asked.
"He's not really that approachable Mercury, you should have figured that out by now," Iris answered for May.
"That's it! You need an attitude adjustment!" Misty said before thwacking Iris on the head with her mallet.
"Ow! That hurt! Fine, I'm sorry geez, I get carried away sometimes," Iris said. Misty put away her mallet, satisfied with her work. The rest of lunch was filled with joking and laughter and it was on to the rest of the day at school.
As soon as school was over, May headed to the arcade where her friends all hung out after school. She had a 20 minute detention for being 5 minutes late. She just stayed after school and helped Miss Roxanne clean up and prepare for the next day as punishment. When she came through the door of the Crown Arcade, she saw her friends wave her over into the giant booth.
As she got closer she realized the arrangements. Curse her friends. Misty was sitting next to Ash with Serena on the other side of her sitting next to Clemont. Next to Clemont was Cilan who had Iris leaning into him. Next to Iris was Paul who was preoccupied by Dawn showing him something on her phone. Then next to Dawn was Drew, with the only open spot next to him.
"Have a seat!" Serena said with a smirk on her face.
"Oh no, it's fine, I've been sitting all day, I can stand," May insisted. Not wanting to face Drew after her realization earlier. Even just sitting there, he was really attractive. He looked up at her out of the corner of his eye and suddenly May felt weak in the knees, but she wouldn't sit.
"Wow, I'm offended," Drew said sarcastically. "I know we don't like to engage in civil conversation, but you can at least be polite to the rest of our friends and sit down," He said sharply. May felt that burning feeling return. She used to just think it was anger towards him, but it was slightly different than what she thought it was, but she couldn't quite pinpoint it. Begrudgingly, she sat down next to him.
"Wow! Good job May, see that wasn't so hard was it?" He said tauntingly. She glared at him. She was trying not to fall into it though. Trying not to get mad for her friends' sake.
"Ooo, silent treatment I see, well that's so mature of you," he said, trying to get her going, but she was trying not to cave. She bit her lip to keep the words back. An unreadable emotion crossed his face but he returned to normal.
"You're so cool May," he said, still taunting her. She finally snapped.
"Would you quit it!" May finally broke. She turned to look at him with a fierce glare. A huge smile formed on his face from ear to ear.
"Uh oh, looks like I made her mad," he said leaning his face closer to hers. She put her hands on his shoulders and shoved him back.
"Stop it! I'm so tired of this!" She exclaimed. "You're such a jerk to me! Why am I the only person who has to take this!" She let it all out at him, her face an angry red. Drew looked genuinely shocked at her before he slightly turned his head away from her, ashamed. She let out a frustrated growl before standing up and smacking both her hands down on the table.
"I'm going home," she said quietly but stormed out of the arcade. She took deep breaths as she walked on the sidewalk trying to calm herself down. Suddenly, a gruff voice from behind her startled her.
"Hey," the voice said. May could feel her stomach sink as she slowly turned around to see a big man with long curly brown hair and steely blue eyes. She recognized him immediately. Nephrite. One of the evil generals from the dark kingdom. She slowly started backing away.
"What do you want?" She asked, her voice quivering.
"Your energy little girl!" He said with an evil grin splitting on his face. Suddenly he lunged at her, his hand stretched out to grab her. Before Nephrite had the chance to even touch her though, she was pulled back into somebody's chest. They had their arms wrapped tight around her protectively.
"Her energy isn't something for you to take!" The person behind her said in a painfully familiar voice. It was Drew. He had followed her outside the arcade. What she didn't know was why.
"Don't interfere! Fine then! I'll just have to take both of your energy!" Nephrite cackled maliciously before capturing them in a green force field with his powers. The force field began to slowly shrink towards them. They would run out of air and space if this was kept up. They would die. May knew what she had to do, but she didn't know if she could risk it. She had no choice. She dug her communicator out of her bag before calling all the girls.
"There's an attack outside the arcade! I need your help!" May said into it. Drew gave her a confused expression as he paused from his efforts to get a way out.
"What are you doing?" He asked confused.
"Calling for backup! Geez, we can't get out like this!" May frowned. She finally made up her mind.
"Ugh! Whatever! Fine! Moon Prism Power Make Up!" May exclaimed as her broach began to shine and her transformation sequence began. There stood Sailor Moon ready for action.
"Ugh! Now what!" May said to herself, trying to think about what she could do. Drew looked dumbstruck but he snapped out of it quickly. He still had a dumb smile on his face though.
"Nephrite uses a sort of shadow power! Try your twilight flash!" Drew suggested at her. May didn't think anything of him knowing her attacks at that moment. She raised her hand up to her tiara and pinched the jewel with her pointer finger and thumb.
"Moon Twilight Flash!" She exclaimed as a beam of moonlight shot out of her tiara and broke through the force field. She and Drew jumped through the hole together.
"So you're Sailor Moon?" Drew said to her.
"Y-yeah, I am, surprise," she said weakly. He suddenly burst out into a cute laughter.
"I just find this amusing because..." he reached into his purple jacket and pulled out a rose before transforming into the person who had always saved her. The one who she idolized and dreamed about. Drew was Tuxedo Mask. May turned bright red in response.
She could freak out later though, they had to focus on Nephrite who was trying to terrorize other civilians. The other guardians hadn't shown up yet. They probably were having a hard time trying to leave. She was the leader anyway, and she wasn't alone. She could do this! Taking a deep breath, she took off her tiara and prepared her attack.
"Moon Tiara Action!" She shouted, sending the tiara like a discus whirling towards the Dark Kingdom General. It caught him off guard and wounded his arm.
"You pesky Sailor brats never know when to stop do you!" He growled.
"No way! Because I am the Pretty Guardian who fights for love and for justice! I am Sailor Moo-"
"You say that every time! I know who you are! You've come to punish me in the name of the moon! Blah blah blah!" Nephrite said as he sent and green and black energy ball towards her and Tuxedo Mask. They both dodged the blast. Tuxedo Mask more elegantly than Sailor Moon. While she got her tiara ready to throw again, Tuxedo Mask sent a barrage of sharp roses at Nephrite, keeping the general on his toes.
"Moon Tiara Action!" She exclaimed. This time the hit was very successful and her tiara wrapped itself around him. He struggled to break out why now being a still target. The tiara kept getting tighter and tighter until he turned into dust with one last scream of protest.
"Curse you sailor brat!"
Her tiara fell to the ground with a loud rattle. She walked over to put it on her head again. She knew that she and Drew definitely needed to talk after this. She gestured to him to go find a place to detransform. Once both in a safe location, they dropped their transformations.
"Do you want to go for a walk in the park to I guess kinda sort out some things?" May asked him shyly. He gave a shrug.
"Yeah sure," he said. After a moment of silence, May finally spoke up.
"So you're Tuxedo Mask," she said.
"Good job May, you're very observant," Drew said sarcastically.
"Can we actually have a more serious conversation for once?" May asked him, fed up. He really knew how to push her buttons.
"Alright. To be honest, I'm not surprised you're Sailor Moon, I had a high suspicion from the very beginning. So that makes all the girls the other Guardians," Drew said. May nodded.
"So even though you knew it was me, you still saved me and even flirted with me. Why?" May asked suspiciously. Drew gulped a little nervously dare she say.
"Well, it would have been weird if I suddenly acted differently towards you," he answered smoothly.
"You're right," she said, feeling stupid for asking the question and being hopeful.
"And I don't know, I felt like I had to make it up to you in some way. For some reason, when I'm around you, I just have this weird gut instinct to just be mean to you. Even though I don't truly mean it I just don't know how to make it stop," he confessed.
"It's like that for me sometimes, and then you don't help always riling me up," she glared at him lightly.
"But you look cute when you're angry, so I can't help myself sometimes," May looked dumbstruck at him.
"Oh did I actually say that out loud? Well now you know I guess," he shrugged trying to play it off but she could see in his eyes that he was nervous.
"You think I'm cute?" She asked for confirmation.
"You heard what I said May, I do think you're cute, and I like to see all the reactions and faces I can get you to make so I try to rile you all up, but I don't truly mean all the mean things I say," she felt her cheeks heat up.
"Well if it makes you feel better, I find you very attractive," She said quietly. Drew quirked an eyebrow.
"Oh really, do tell," he encouraged her, very interested in what she was going to say next. She turned red and faced away from him to avoid his gaze.
"I always thought you hated me so I never thought that you could ever like me, but even still I couldn't suppress my attraction towards you. I tried to take my anger out on you because you were the cause of my trouble. That maybe if I told myself I hated you and acted that way, I'd start to believe it, but it got even harder," she sighed.
"Even though you constantly teased me and got on my nerves, you still got under my skin and I couldn't get you out. Then I was conflicted over you and Tuxedo Mask, but now I know, so I think I can finally say it. Drew, I have feelings for you, and I want to be something with you. I don't know how, but you made me fall for you and I can't get you out of my head," May finally confessed, letting out all her conflicted emotions, leaving her open for him to read. It took him a moment for him to register her words before his face split into a wide smug grin.
"I see. So that's how it is," he said, pondering what he was going to say next. May was standing stiffly, ready to hear his rejection.
"The teasing was all fun and games for me, getting you worked up and seeing you're fiery reactions. I thought you truly disliked me. I thought you were just some child. At first. But you kept surprising me. Over time, I started to get excited to see you so I could get another reaction from you. And it started to sting whenever you would send a harsh and malicious insult at me. I tried to accept it, but my heart wouldn't allow it. Before I knew it, I was falling for you, hopeless that you'd ever feel the same," May looked shocked at his confession. She didn't truly think he would return her feelings.
"You have feelings for me?" May asked quietly.
"Yes May, I just said that," he deadpanned.
"Right sorry, it's just still not completely sunk in yet," she admitted. He smirked at her.
"I'll give your Bandana Brain a moment to process," he teased. She shot a spiteless glare at him.
"What are we going to tell the others?" May asked, confused as to what exactly they even were at that point.
"Let's not think about anybody else right now," Drew said as he stepped closer to her. He wrapped one arm around her waist and pulled her into him tightly. She could feel the warmth of his body seeping into hers, heating her up. With his other hand, he moved it up to gently cup her cheek. His emerald gaze fixed her eyes to his.
"Drew," she choked out, her heart racing a mile a minute, anticipated what was to come. The tension between them poured off them in waves. Serena was right. There was so much tension between them, most definitely one of the causes of their explosive behavior towards each other. She managed to break away from his gaze to stare longingly at his lips.
If Serena was right, then to finally loosen the tension, she had to kiss him. Not that it was a bad thing because she desperately wanted to in that moment. With a sharp inhale, Drew crashed his lips onto hers. They were never really calm around each other, always burning with emotions. However, May found that this was way more pleasant then running their mouths at each other.
That same power and passion had transferred into a different form. And now that she had tasted him, she knew there was no going back. She clenched her fists around the material of his purple jacket, somehow pulling him even closer and deepening the kiss. She began to move her lips in return against his, creating an addicting friction that May knew she would never get tired of. They finally broke apart for air before a sort of gravity pulled them together again. She let go of his jacket and tangled her fingers into his forest of green locks. Drew let his hand fall from her face to join his other hand at her waist. A distant ringing sound began to interfere with the moment. May began to recognize what it was and reluctantly pulled away from Drew. She pulled out her communicator from her pocket to see the insignia of Mercury. May answered.
"Hey! Are you okay? We're outside but there's no sign of danger. Where are you?" Dawn asked as her face filled the circular screen of the device.
"Oh, well, we defeated Nephrite. There's no more danger," May explained, severely summarizing the battle.
"We?" Dawn asked curiously. May mentally cursed herself.
"Oh, um Tuxedo Mask showed up," she explained.
"Oh, good, I'm glad you weren't alone! Also, have you seen Drew? He went after you when you left, I hope he wasn't hurt in the attack," Dawn asked, concerned.
"Oh, um, well," May stuttered trying to figure out what she should say. She looked to Drew for help. He just shrugged his shoulders at her. She glared at him.
"You are no help!" She whispered harshly at him against her better judgement.
"May? Is there someone there with you? And where's Drew?" Dawn asked, confused. May let out a big sigh.
"They're going to find out one way or another. About everything so should we just get it over with now?" May asked Drew, giving up on trying to keep his presence a secret.
"Yeah, I guess you're right, and by the way, I'm fine Dawn," Drew said.
"Wait, he heard all of that! Does he know about us? May!" Dawn exclaimed worriedly.
"It's fine Dawn, we have a lot to discuss. We're having a meeting, preferably at the temple if Iris is okay with it, and Drew is coming too," May told her.
"Alright I'll let the girls know what you told me so far," Dawn said before waving and hanging up.
"I hope you're prepared for this because they are going to freak out," May warned him, exhausted.
"I can deal with it. Only for you," He flashed her a flirty grin.

-A/N-
Oh my gosh. I had no idea how long this one shot was going to be. However on the plus side, it didn't take me long to write it at all because I absolutely adore Sailor Moon. I used a lot of the names of attacks and guardians from the Japanese version and the viz dub version because I watched those both. The English voice acting in the original is just not super great and I can't take it seriously at all.
You may be wondering why Misty isn't Sailor Mercury, even though Mercury uses water, but with her very tomboyish personality and her sort of violent tendencies, I thought she matched Jupiter's personality better because she was expelled from her old school for fighting, but she only did it to stand up for others which I felt fit Misty well. I gave Mercury to Dawn because she has the looks and I feel like she could fit the role and it was the only one left.
I chose Serena for Venus because the whole Paris is the city of love and stuff. I also felt like her personality worked well for Venus's part. As for Iris, she spends so much time picking at others, and with her long hair, she was perfect for Mars. I don't always like Mars because she goes too far a lot and isn't always the nicest to Moon in the show. I wanted to emphasize that part of her personality so she fit perfectly as Mars.
Anyways, I hope this wasn't too hard to follow if you've never seen Sailor Moon, but I kinda wanted to leave it open ended in case you wanted to see a part 2 of it where everything is explained to the rest of the girls. I would also be up for making it a series if you guys really wanted, because I've been wanting to do some form of Sailor Moon fanfiction but the Usagi x Mamoru ship is so old that no one ever reads or writes it that much anymore which is sad.
Anyways, I wanted to do something special for the 40th one shot so here it is. I don't think I could save it for the 50th because at the rate I post, that wouldn't be for a long while so hopefully I can come up with something big by then too. Anyways, I really hope you enjoyed this because this was probably my favorite one to write.
