Our home

I sat on the porch outside our house watching that sunset you loved so much.
Memories clouded my thoughts as I thought about sitting here with you. You were always so keen to point out the little things, the grasshoppers chirping a wondrous melody to attract a mate, the fireflies that flew around, flashing a small spark of joy into the world.
It's hard to believe that it's all over now. The monsters that once plagued humanity are now gone, we won...

I rested my head on the back of the porch swing, closing my eyes as the gentle breeze ruffled my now greying bright red hair. A small peaceful smile was plastered on my face as I thought of you.

I'm certain you'd be proud, you're looking down on me now aren't you? There isn't a day where I don't miss you. You would have loved to sit next to me, and just waste away the day with small talk.

In the thirty long years since your death, a lot has happened. We had to do a lot of rebuilding to get humanity back to the way it was over 100 years ago. And now children play around on the playground, their faces full of joy, no longer fear or sadness.

They even named the first human settlement they rebuilt after you, Percular city.

Only three months after your death I was gifted to find out that I was expecting your child. I know you you were smiling at me then from up in the stars.
You would have been so excited...
Raising your daughter proved to be a challenge, I should have known. She was so ambitious and a complete tomboy, just like you. She got into lots of trouble, and now she works as a lawyer.

They made a monument to you in the middle of the park, I know you would have liked that.
I wish you were alive to see it...
I remember what you told me when you died...

'It was all over now... The Queen has been defeated. My arm burns like hell from the wound I received from earlier. Scarlet blood drips from the gash, but that doesn't matter! We won! I break into a sprint, slinging my gun, Berserk over my shoulder. Nothing matters right now, I need to make sure that Leon is alright! "Jared where are you going?" Rose asks loudly, about to run after me, but a hand rests on her shoulder. "Let her go, she needs to find him..." A young man his eyes seeming to be permanently closed. Tan skin, and light blue hair.
Rose sighs, her brown eyes follow after me, "fine I won't. Let's find the others," she states, the young man known as Allistor nodded.

I continued running through the bloodied wrecked city streets. I finally spotted him, his black hair was matted and scorched, his eyes were closed. He had several injuries all over his body from the blast the Queen gave off.
My eyes widen with relief. I can feel tears burn in my eyes, worse then the grief of all the people who have died today.
"Leon!" I call out, racing over and kneeling beside him. A small smirk forms on his face, as he takes a small raspy breath. His blue eyes open to meet my own.
"Hang in there we'll get you help," I told him quite frantically, as much as I hate to admit it, I need him.

"Don't waste your time Jar..." He rasped, using the nickname I hated so much. I can feel the tears flowing down my cheeks. I looked down at him, about to protest, but from the look in his eyes I can tell he isn't going to live.

"Look up at that sky..." He breaths, I look up to see stars dotting the sky, shinning down, bringing a strange form of hope.
"They say each one of those stars is the spirit of someone who's died... I wonder where I'll be in the sky." A sob racks my body, I don't want him to die...
"I hope that when you look up, you'll be able to see me shining brightly..." His breathing was getting slower.

"I love you Jar," he spoke in his final breaths. "Stay gold Jar, stay gold..."
He said, his voice rasping. He won't live long.
"Of corse..." I said a small smile cracking on my face, "you of all people would reference that stupid book at a time like this." I breathed, hot tears poured down my face, as he let out a small grunt, before closing his eyes the smirk still on his face. A single tear rolls down his face, as he left this world, forever.

I stare up at the sky, a single star seemed to shine brighter then before.
"I love you too..." I breathed, a small smile formed on my face.
"I'll never forget..."'

I opened my eyes, staring up at the stars again, wiping away the small tears that rolled down my cheeks from the memory. That one star still shined bright as ever.
"I know that you're still watching over me... I'll keep doing my best until I can finally join you."

Little did she know that on the sidewalk at the base of the steps stood a ghostly young man, black hair blue eyes. He smiled up at her, he had always watched over her. "I'll see you again one day Jar..." He told himself before his ghostly shape faded and disappeared.
