Aim to Engage #6 -- New Moon
My alarm went off, alerting me that it was time. I quickly got out of bed and opened my window. Stealing a glance at my clock, it revealed to be 11:30 am. The air outside my window chilled me to the bone so I ducked back into my room and grabbed my coat.
My ears picked up on a scraping sound in the hallway.
Shrugging it off to just be my sister, I grabbed hold of the tree branch that ran alongside my bedroom. Shutting my window as best I could, I climbed down the tree.
For some reason, I decided to look up at my bedroom. Light filled the area. I could've sworn the light had been turned off.
I held my breath and waited for the light to go off. It did, eventually, and not wasting any time, I sprinted as fast as I could to the meeting place.
My breathing was hard when I reached the house. I raised an eyebrow when I saw that the lights weren't on.
Why weren't they on?
The party definitely was tonight... Right?
The wind picked up and I moved closer to the house. Brandishing my phone's torch, I opened the door, surprisingly not locked.
The cold, desolate house heightened my senses and I couldn't help but remember the conversation that I had had with my friend the other week.

"I don't think the party should be next week," Lisa had said.
"Why not?"
"Haven't you heard? There's this serial killer on the loose."
"Really? Never heard of them," I replied.
"They say he only appears on a new moon. He claims any person unlucky enough be disturbing the peace."
"Yeah right. Next, you'll be telling me that he dismembers his victims beyond recognisability."
Lisa nodded. "He does."

As the front door creaked open, I couldn't help but remember that conversation.
My feet padded softly on the carpeted floor. The light of my torch revealed that the current rooms were still the way they were.
Until I stepped on it.
The squelching sound filled my ears and the smell of metal filled my nose. Nervously, I looked down. Slowly.
An earth-shattering scream filled the air.
My foot was covered in the blood of a corpse. Bits of skin, tissue and bone pooled around it.
Flashing my torch around the room, I discovered the whole room was like this. A nauseating feeling came over me and I felt like I was going to faint. Blood appeared on the wall, spelling out a chilling message:
Behind you.
Before I had time to react, I felt the cold metal of a knife in my back. In. Out.
The world started to slip away and darkness covered my vision.
