Aim to Engage #12 -- Her fault
It's not that I wouldn't prefer to be living among humans but after what she did to me, lying to me, using me... I couldn't trust another living soul.
I happened to look down the alleyway of a street and saw a body. Blood had been spilt everywhere and the faceless victim deformed.
I almost threw up.
Is this what my victims look like in the end? I thought, carefully stepping over the body. Throughout the centuries I had never thought of this... Never thought of the heartbreak it could cause someone...
I shook my head and walked away. Now wasn't the time for self-loathing.
A trail of blood leads me out of the alleyway and onto the night-ridden street. Not a single human dares to stay out; Not after the reports of recent, bloody deaths happening after dark. That I was grateful for.
A plastic bag flew past me in the wind. The trail of blood became short and more spread out. I sighed and watched the breath appear. The air chilled me to the bone. I continued walking forward.
There had been nothing in my way. I stumbled through the air. My throat was dry and my sense for blood had heightened.
No. No, no, no. Not now. Not when I could be so close.
My thirst for blood came stronger with every passing second. I could feel the very beginning of the sun's rays on my back. I needed blood to continue on―
A single drop of blood singled out all I could smell. That one drop wasn't far away.
And it had belonged to me.
As quick as lightning, I ran, no, sprinted towards the where the blood had dropped. It had led me to yet another empty street but this time, a figure was walking away from it.
Another bloody corpse laid on the ground. My knees buckled at the overwhelming amount of blood.
The figure in front of me stopped and I took in her beauty.
Hair that had gone brighter and shimmered like the sun. Milk skin from being a vampire and swirling purple eyes that begged for the blood of others. Lips stained with blood.
"Told you that you wouldn't be able to survive without me," her voice sweet, like honey.
Breathing heavily, I pulled out a stake. It burned my hand but I had to deal with the pain.
"I don't recall you losing your ability to speak," her voice sounded, making me yearn for her once again.
She snapped her fingers and flickered her wrist towards her. My body flew through the air and slammed stop, just in front of her.
Her grip held me in the air and started to choke me.
"Now, now, don't get scared. I just need a little more blood..."
She started to walk forward and her teeth were on my neck, ready to draw the blood out. But the stake drove through her body.
"I'm sorry," I whispered, as the sun came up.
