Riverdale Road
I feel so far behind on the Aim to Engage contest. Whoops.
In the United States, Colorado, there's an 11 mile stretch of road called Riverdale Road. The road is haunted with eight urban legends. Supposedly, a runner died in a hit-and-run car accident. Now the runner's out for revenge. Her footsteps can be still heard...

Whoever thought driving to Riverdale Road on Friday the 13th's night must be insane. But that's exactly what I decided to do with a group of my friends. We wanted to find the Gates to Hell, which were supposedly just gates leading to a mansion where a man had killed his wife and kids, though Brad wanted to see the phantom car. I don't think I want to be chased by a phantom car, especially since I'm driving.
Somehow, we all mustered our courage and visited Riverdale Road close to midnight. The first mile was peaceful. We cruised along, talking about what we wanted to see.
Suddenly we thought we saw another pair of headlights. "Amy, kill the engine," said Sam. I turned the car off and we listened. No other engines echoed in the distance, but Mike thought he saw another set of headlights. My heart pounded so loud my eardrums gurgled.
Then, we could hear it. The sound of running feet and heavy breathing. The six of us stared at each other, unable to move.
"I don't wanna do this anymore..." Ella whispered.
"Chicken," hissed Vanya, but he is just as scared as the rest of us.
Suddenly we heard something slap the side door. We all gasped and stayed as still as we could. When we didn't hear anything for a long time, Jen pointed the light at the door. On the window was a large greasy handprint. Beyond the handprint was a woman. Her lips were pulled back into a sneering smile. Her mangled brown hair fell over her crinkled face.
She tore the door off the hinges. Screaming, the six of us tried to climb out the other side of the car. I was the first to run. It's only now do I wish I had picked up running in high school.
The next thing I knew, I was alone. I couldn't hear my friends behind me and I worried the jogger got them. I kept running, but it wasn't long before I could hear the soft patting of feet behind me. When I glanced over my shoulder, the jogger was only a few feet behind me and closing the gap fast. Her blue shirt reflected the moonlight off er chest and onto the knife in her hand...
That's when my little brother interrupted. "Amy, that's lame!" Ian said. "I thought you said it was scary."
"Well you should have been there!" I said.
Mom joined us at the campfire with some s'mores supplies. "If you want a scary story, Ian, I have one. I too went to Riverdale Road." She dished out the s'mores supplies and took the flashlight, holding it up to her face as she untied her curly brown hair. And I swear to God, my mother looked exactly like the jogger had when Jen shined the light at the door. It didn't help that my mom had the same shirt the jogger wore.

I creeped myself out thinking about this too hard.
