Third person P.O.V
"M- Mrs. Jeon," Taehyung mumbled to himself but Jungkook heard it clearly.
"Hi, Kim." He finally cleared his throat and said. But, Taehyung was so much focused on one word that he didn't notice when the other softly patted his shoulder.
"Are you ok? You look pale." Jungkook asked in concern but Taehyung just kept standing silently.
"H- hyung, I- I mean, Mr. Jeon," Taehyung stuttered out with great difficulty and tried to smile but his eyes were betraying him. "Nice to s- see you, happy and healthy." He completed his sentence with so many efforts and licked his lips.
Jungkook frowned when he abruptly turned back to leave but bumped into someone.
"Hey!- oh, Tae. I was coming to look for you. Let's go, food is here." Jimin said and was about to drag him when he noticed the familiar face.
"Jeon? Jungkook?!" The other waved his hand and lightly smiled.
"What a surprise! How are you?" Jungkook smiled at the enthusiastic blond.
"Come on, all are here. Let's meet them." Before Jungkook could protest, he was dragged to the table where all the others were beyond shocked to see him after years.
Besides being shocked, they were happy for the silver-haired who was unexpectedly, very silent and bothered.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeon.
So, he got married and is already the father of a kid while I was waiting for him like an idiot.
Serves you right, Kim Taehyung!
"Taebear, you ok?" Jin asked when he saw the other clenching the tablecloth very brutally.
"I- I'm not feeling well, hyung. Can I leave first?" The sense of jealousy was burning his inside. What he was expecting when he was going to see that specific male after years, but he never ever thought about this scenario and honestly, it hurt him the most.
"Why? What's wrong?" This time, Jimin asked with concern and got up from his seat to look at him.
Taehyung licked his lips and massaged his own scalp rather harshly before getting up from the chair.
"My head is hurting so badly. I'm leaving, please don't mind."
"But, Jungkook is back after so long. Don't you wanna-"
"His family is waiting for him, let him go already," Taehyung exclaimed with a broken voice and turned to leave his hyungs.
Jungkook sighed and bit his lips harshly when Jimin quickly rushed behind the silver-haired who was running away.
"Family? Your grandfather is here?" Jin asked with a frown but Jungkook shook his head.
"I'll tell you everything but first tell me, is he still single?" Jungkook asked instead and they all told him, how the once brunet rejected everyone who tried to approach him and stayed alone, especially this day.
By the end of their talk, Jungkook was tearing up but he clenched his jaw when his phone rang, showing a specific contact number.
"I'm coming." He replied before hanging up and looking up at the table before bidding goodbye to them all.
______________
Taehyung was silently watching the screen of his laptop but his mind wasn't there. He couldn't keep calm after the encounter with the older.
It was so difficult to assure them all that he was fine, especially Jimin, who was persistent in accompanying him to his apartment. His phone was bombarded with the msgs and calls but he just turned it off. It was so rude of him, he knew that but he was so much in turmoil to talk to anyone.
Waiting for someone for years and finally meeting the said person, only to know that he was already married and happy in his life, was not so easy.
Every fiber of his body was in pain, not physically but mentally. He was continuously blaming himself, not Jungkook. Afterall, the other deserved to be happy in his life not like him, who always pushed away his own happiness with his own hands.
The doorbell rang, dragging him out of his daze.
"I told them I'm fine." He mumbled before dragging his body to the door. He opened the door and silently turned back when the person spoke.
"Took you long enough."
That voice again-
He gulped thickly, praying intensely not breaking down right now, and looked up to see the other, standing there all in his might.
"H- how can I help you?" He tried to be good and gave a small smile but the corners of his lips were twitching in denial.
Jungkook invited himself inside the cozy house, went to the couch placed in the living room, and looked around, a glint of pride glistening in his eyes.
"Nice house."
"Thanks." Jungkook frowned when he heard the continuous tapping on the floor and his frown disappeared when he noticed the other's legs bouncing up and down.
"W- why are you here?"
"You don't like my presence here?"
"No, I- I didn't mean-" Taehyung started fumbling with his fingers and Jungkook sighed heavily, leaning over the table.
"I heard, you wanted to talk to me. So, I'm here." Taehyung slightly glanced over him before averting his eyes.
"No, it's not like that."
"Don't lie, it doesn't suit your personality." Hearing the other so calm and collected even after years ignited some fury inside his mind.
"What do you wanna hear now, Mr. Jeon?" Jungkook blankly stared back at the other who suddenly went near the couch.
"There is nothing to talk about now. Maybe there were many things that I wanted to tell you but now-" He kept facing the wall and inhaled deeply to keep himself from bursting out.
"- there isn't anything left." Jungkook got up as well and silently stood behind him. He could feel the other's limbs shaking badly.
"Happy birthday." He whispered near the ear of the silver-haired who in response, clutched his fluffy sweater.
"She- she is your daughter, right?" Jungkook inhaled the same calming and sweet scent of the other, eyes closed with the heavenly feeling after years.
"Yes." Taehyung felt his mind going blank but he managed a nod.
"Isn't she cute?" Jungkook breathed out, his nose almost touching the ear of the other.
"Hmm?" He hummed, this time touching the skin with his cold nose tip and Taehyung shivered at the contact but in the next second, he was pushed away.
"Y- you shouldn't be here, your family must be waiting for you."
"But I wanted to come here-"
"No, you shouldn't have come here. We- I- I can't-" Jungkook softly cupped his cheeks when he noticed the troubled male.
"Why are you so nervous? Remember, we were friends and we parted away on good terms." Taehyung bitterly chuckled and removed the hand from his cheek.
"Parted away? Really? You practically ran away!" His eyes were looking here and there, his heart filled with sorrows that he just wanted to empty.
"I know, you- you were hurt by my reaction, but what did you do? You just ran away before I could understand it all! You left me in my miseries and pains." The tears filled in his doe eyes and were reflecting his pains, so clearly.
Jungkook bit his lips when his eyes met with those soft brown ones, the male was smiling yet crying.
"I was afraid of my own feelings, afraid for falling for a- a boy, a boy who was filling up the void in my heart and soul. But instead of believing in my own feelings, I reacted that way, thinking that I was doing right by pushing my feelings back, for my family, for my mother and all. My own priority wasn't there, they were my priorities and I was afraid of disappointing them." The tears started to cascade down his smooth skin, stopping at the bruised lips that he had been biting for hours.
"But in my own chaos, I forgot... I forgot how much it will affect you, your feelings." His eyes met with the dark ones.
"I forgot to give you the love you deserved, hyung." Jungkook clenched his jaw, controlling himself from crying.
"Because- because I was a coward. I was always a coward." He took a deep breath and wiped his tears which were replaced quickly.
"I know, it means nothing now but- but let me be selfish again and let it out, because it's suffocating me and will kill me someday-"
"Taehyung-"
"Please, please.. it's too much now," Taehyung mumbled and took another deep breath because he was so close to breaking down.
Jungkook silently watched him as the other slowly rolled up his sleeve and showed something, that made him feel mixed emotions.
"When I first got that bracelet, I fell for it. Thinking it was Minho who gifted me that, I was happy for our friendship. But the day- the day when I found out that it was you, my heart was pushing me to fall deeper for the real giver, but my mind- my mind kept stopping me."
"When you didn't show up for days after that night, my heart was always longing for y- you, it was- it was crying for your soothing words and voice." A small smile but a broken one adorned his chapped lips and broke Jungkook's heart.
"Euni, she- she was more intelligent than me and made me realize what stupidity I was showing." He chuckled lightly and due to his movement, more tears fell off his face.
"But when I finally gathered up my courage, you- you were already gone.. gone." The way he repeated the word 'gone', made Jungkook clench his fists tightly.
"That letter is still with me, you write so well... just like the way you wrote the first time when I was sick." He was sure that it was always Jungkook who helped him in his very dark times but he was blind to see that all, too much engrossed in his own thoughts of taking him as a rival, such a fool.
Jungkook closed his eyes when there was a brief silence. He heard the footsteps approaching him but he kept himself in the dark until a soft yet cold hand touched his wrist, hesitantly.
"I have liked you since the day I got to know the truth about Seoyun." The soft breath hit his face, because they were close, so close.
"But the night you left, I realized- I never liked you." Jungkook slowly opened his eyes and saw the other now hanging his head low. The fingers were shaking over his wrist but he strained himself from acting at the moment because he wanted to just listen to the other who was finally speaking his feelings.
"I never liked you because-" The younger looked up and their eyes met with each other. The hand that was on his wrist traveled up to his face and the cold skin touched his warm one, so delicately and hesitantly.
"I love you.. J- Jungkook."
Jungkook?
Did he call my name?
"I'm- I'm still in love with you. How stupid of me?" Taehyung chuckled and stepped back, shaking his head with the same broken smile.
"I was waiting for you and thought that you- you will be waiting for me. But I should've known, someone like me, never deserves you." Jungkook opened his mouth but the other quickly shushed him.
"Don't worry, I'm happy that you moved on. I'll be fine like I was doing in the past y- years. Everything will be like before when I never knew about you." It feels like he was trying to understand his own words. His eyes were kinda dazed and he was licking his lips again and again.
"Your d- daughter is very cute and your-" A huge lump formed in his throat and he closed his eyes tightly while taking a deep breath again.
Jungkook was getting teary-eyed as well by witnessing that again, but in a different situation.
"- your wife is really beautiful." Taehyung again opened his eyes, looked up at the other's teary eyes, and smiled half-heartedly.
"I wish you- I wish you a very happy life with your special one." Jungkook blinked and let the tears fall. He remembered what he wrote in the letter and the words were diverted back to him.
You're not mine, you were never mine but I was delusional that you will come back to me, to make this '-ve' complete with your 'Lo-'
Jungkook was silently crying when the other let himself lean back on the wall while tilting his head upwards with closed eyes.
There was a storm going on inside his mind and heart but he was showing only half of it. But that was enough to break the shields that the older of the two built in the past years.
Two strong arms wrapped around his waist as Taehyung was pulled forward on a warm body, his face settling in the neck of the other when a hand started caressing his hair.
"You- you are still mine special one, Taebear." Taehyung's body stiffened when the other breathed out near his neck and softly pecked the skin.
He tried to pull back but the arm was keeping him in place.
"What do you m- mean? What about your family?! Your- your daughter! Your wife-"
"She isn't my wife." Taehyung frowned and harshly pulled back with narrowed eyes boring into the other's.
"Are you trying to comfort me in this way?"
Jungkook chuckled and softly brushed the silver bangs away from his forehead to peck there a long and lingering one. That's when Taehyung felt the other's warm tears trickling down his skin.
His heart was beating crazily but his mind was blank.
"Hyung-"
"Call me Jungkook, its Jungkook." Taehyung blinked in a daze when the other pulled away to cup his face, thumb softly caressing his red cheeks.
"Your Jungkook." His eyes were again getting teary because if that was a dream, he just wanted to live in it for the rest of his life. The loneliness was killing him slowly and he was sick of that. The warmth he was in need of was engulfing him and that's all he needed.
But suddenly, the matter again dragged him back to reality and he harshly pushed the other who was taken aback as well.
"Tae-"
"No, I- I can't do that. I can't break your family." He desperately shook his head and harshly grabbed his own hair.
"I- I still love you but I can't do that.. your daughter, she- she needs her mother and her father. I'm not that horrible person to break a perfect family.. I- I can't- this- no I can't-" Jungkook got worried when the other started rambling while shaking badly. The past experiences were still fresh in his mind and he felt like making those blames true if he do so, that's what he thought.
"Hey, look at me, Tae."
"NO! I'M NOT A SL*T!"
Jungkook got irked by the word and harshly grabbed shoulders of Taehyung to shake him up a bit.
"Come to your senses! She isn't my wife but my cousin!"
Taehyung stopped moving and that's when Jungkook guided him to the couch while he searched for the kitchen to bring some water for the exhausted younger.
"Drink some water and take deep breaths, please." Taehyung took a sip and looked for an explanation.
Jungkook sighed and again cupped his face, softly wiping the tears, he made him look into his eyes.
"Jiha is my uncle's daughter and is married. She is here for some reasons that I can't explain."
"But, y- your d- daughter?" Taehyung hiccuped in between and that clenched Jungkook's heart.
He softly smiled and scooted closer to the silver-haired who unconsciously leaned towards him for warmth and comfort, making him feel satisfied.
"Fia, she is my daughter." Taehyung again frowned but before he could say more, Jungkook placed his finger over his lips.
"Hear me now, yeah?" Taehyung nodded.
"She is adopted," Jungkook said and caressed the chapped lips of the other with his finger.
"I found her 2 years ago on the road. Supposedly, she was the daughter of a Korean girl and a foreigner. I tried to look for her parents but found that they left her on their own. She was only one year older at that time. So, I adopted her officially, and now, she is Jeon Fia, my daughter." Taehyung smiled genuinely, for the first time and Jungkook felt his heart fluttering just like years ago.
"I'm sorry for leaving like that, but I was so much afraid of your rejection and hate. I couldn't think of anything else and ran away. Not knowing that I was leaving my life behind." Taehyung closed his tired eyes when Jungkook leaned forward and bopped their noses.
"There wasn't a single day when I didn't miss you. Even though you aren't my first love, I'm sure of one thing," He slightly pulled away and Taehyung opened his eyes.
"You're my last and the true love. True love of my heart." Taehyung felt like melting when Jungkook pulled him closer to his chest and wrapped his arms around his body, protectively.
"I love you, I love you so much, my Kim Taehyung." Taehyung's eyes were again teary but he just wanted to enjoy the moment that he finally had after years of pain.
Wiping his tears, he tilted his head up and was so close to the other's lips.
"And I love you more, my Jungkookie hyung." When the words finally left his lips, he let out a long sigh of relief, feeling all the burdens lifting off of his mind, and placed his head over the other's neck, who was smiling in relief as well.
"Jungkookie hyung?" Taehyung just tiredly smiled and snuggled more on the warmth and that's when he noticed the other's wrist, adorned with the bracelet 'Lo-' peeking through the sleeve of his coat, and that made his heart feel more at peace.
"Jin hyung told me, you- you're taking sleeping pills?" Taehyung slightly tensed up on the topic.
Every night, he was having the same nightmare of seeing Jungkook falling away from him or calling him names or even saying 'I hate you'. Sometimes, it'd be Minho or Chayun, trying to kill him.
He doesn't want to go to the psychotherapy because that way, all of his Hyungs would have known what's wrong with him and he decided to take the pills to cure his depression. But little did he know, Jimin had already seen the pills when he last time visited him in the house and told the others. They're about to talk to him about this matter at the dinner but this all happened.
"N- no, I- I don't take-"
"Don't you dare to lie," Jungkook said and Taehyung felt defeated.
"I can't sleep.. it was.. it is so scary." His voice was like a whisper, a quivering whisper.
Jungkook tightened his arms around the other and pulled him closer. Taehyung almost ended up on the other's lap but he was just drowning in the warmth.
"I'm here now, my love. You're not alone anymore." The name, it was like a drop of water in the deserted land, making his heart feel lighter.
"You won't leave me, again? Fia? Grandpa? Where is he?" The questions popped up and he asked.
"No, I won't leave you and Fia will be with us. Dada is in the US but he will be back soon because I wrapped up there and shifted here." Taehyung nodded his head and was again biting his poor lips.
"What if- what if Fia doesn't like me?" Jungkook chuckled and patted his head lovingly.
"She was blabbering about the 'angel' she met in the restaurant for an hour to Jiha."
"Angel?"
Jungkook again chuckled and nuzzled his nose in the fluffy silver hairs, inhaling the sweet scent.
"She was talking about you, my angel."
Taehyung lightly giggled and felt his eyes getting droopy in the comfort, without the sleeping pills.
"She was always your fan since she saw your pictures in my phone and your sketches." Taehyung tiredly pulled back with a frown.
"You've my pictures?" Jungkook smiled and nodded lightly.
"How could I live without seeing your face?" Taehyung hung his head low.
"I was living this way.. because you left nothing behind.. except for this." He showed the bracelet and softly traced it. "And I used to talk to it every night."
Jungkook felt another pang in his chest. He wasn't oblivious to that pain, the pain of being far away from the one you love, and also when there was so much to share but they were left with only burdens.
"I'm so sorry."
"No, I'm sorry... I was so late to accept myself and I ruined the years, that we could've spent with happiness, with each other." Taehyung breathed out and softly took hold of Jungkook's hands in his and pecked them, sending tingles to the other's heart.
"But I'm lucky to have another chance, with you." He pecked more and locked his eyes with the dark ones.
"I'm willing to spend the rest of my life with you." Jungkook's eyes got teary again when Taehyung slowly slipped down on the floor and placed his head over his lap.
"Will you be with me, till my last breath?" He asked and Jungkook let out a choked laugh before getting down as well.
"You beat me in that, bear." He chuckled through the teary eyes and Taehyung smiled before leaning forward and kissing the tears away.
"Because you beat my heart before and made it yours. Now, I want to have yours, all for myself." Jungkook smiled and his jaw was now hurting from smiling a lot in a little time.
"I'm all yours, all yours and my baby bear is only mine." He exclaimed and leaned forward before claiming what he had yearned for years.
Taehyung closed his eyes and let the other take the lead when they softly molded their lips, forgetting about everything, every pain they went through in the past, because the present matters more.
When they parted away, Jungkook pecked his lips twice before traveling lips to his jaw.
"You're looking so so so pretty in this hair color, everything is so perfect about you, my life." He breathed out, blowing some silver strands that made the other inhale sharply when the butterflies busted in his stomach on hearing the words.
"What did you think of me in the company?" He asked, leaving wet kisses on the smooth skin.
Taehyung closed his eyes, fingers curling in the hairs of the other on the euphoric sensation.
"A- a rival.. m- my love rival." Taehyung stuttered when Jungkook bit lightly over his jaw.
"And what do you think now?" Jungkook's lips were now nibbling the earlobe of the other who lightly pulled on his hair.
"Contender."
Jungkook pulled back and frowned.
"Still?" Taehyung giggled and tiredly wrapped his arms around the other's neck, connecting their foreheads.
"Yeah, still. You're contender of my heart, rival against my thoughts, my feelings." He pecked Jungkook's eyes gently when the other nuzzled in his neck.
"And you won against everything... you won every inch of me."
'The End
"Contender? Your biggest Contender is your heart against your mind. If you leave them, they'll be chaotic, but if you hear them both, you will know your fate"
