Hannah was a well liked person, she would say. Her antics made people chuckle, and her smile was contagious. It hurt her when others didn't feel that way. Those like the ones who ask her for favors she knows she shouldn't do.

A favor to take their powers, temporarily or permanently, both she has dealt with.

"Why can't you just do this? Then I can leave." One of the boys who wouldn't give up says to her on a day that was glorious.

"Because the professor wouldn't want that."

"Well the professor's not here is he?" The boy snarls, a long tongue sliding out as he hisses.

"You cant scare me into taking your powers." She stated.

"Sure I can. If you don't take these things away, then I'll use them in a way I don't want to." Hannah wished this was like the romcom she watched with Jean at the movies. The main characters love interest walks in all tough, telling the bully to leave her alone. But this was not a romcom. This was no movie, it was real life.

Hannah listened to the professor lecture the class. She loved to listen to the professor, but today wasn't like any other day. She didn't know why she just had a feeling. The sun shone a different way, it was warmer to her, made her feel more anxious than usual. Maybe it was because classes meant people remembered her promises of taking their powers. Or they want to force her into it. She just had this bad feeling.

While the professor read, he made sure to roll and make eye contact with every student. Hannah sat in a chair next to Jubilee. Jubilee and the other students raised their hands eagerly, but she didn't know why, she wasn't paying much attention at all really. The professor had turned around to find one of the teachers and two other strangers. Hannah noticed a blindfold on one of the boy's eyes.

Seeing the blindfold, the boy's anxiousness in the school reminded her of her first day arriving to the school. It was her mom that had brought her there. A kind hand on the girl's shoulder comforted her as the professor and Hank McCoy introduced themselves.

"I didn't know my Hannah had such extraordinary gifts." Her mother said to the professor that day.

"From what I've heard she sounds absolutely wonderful." The professor replies. "Hannah?" Hannah looked back at the man in the wheelchair. At the time she didn't really believe she'd belong in a school for gifted. She was normal. A normal girl with dreams. She didn't know what she was.

"Yes?" Her mother laughed.

"She's always been very outgoing. Distracted by everything, professor. You'll have to be patient with her."

"Mom. There's nothing wrong with me." Hannah whispered.

"I know, dear. There's nothing wrong with any of us here." Her mother turned back to the professor. "How is everyone?" The two talked like old friends, which concerned Hannah. Her mom had never brought up this man before. The two stayed silent which started to worry her. The professor then turned to Hannah.

"Hannah, your mother is also an extraordinary person. She knew you'd be meant for something before now." Hannah looked at her mother with worry and confusion.

"Hannah."

Hannah blinked rapidly looking to see Jubilee shaking her. "Yeah?"

"The professor wants you." Hannah nodded and smiled at the girl.

Hannah ran out of the school and saw the professor with the boy, Hank and someone else. She started walking over and waved at the professor. He waved back with a warm smile, as he then continued to speak.

As she approached them, the professor decided to introduce her. "Hannah, there you are. Alex, Scott, meet Hannah Durant. One of the students here."

Scott had stayed silent, but Alex put his hand out. "Nice to meet you Hannah, I'm Alex. This here is my brother Scott." He put a hand on his shoulder, shaking him a bit, turning him in the direction of her.

"Nice to meet you two as well." She shook his hand, feeling his power surge through him. "You must be a powerful mutant." She comments.

"I'd like to think so." Alex jokes. "My brother here is coming to this school."

"Yeah I think she can tell." Scott mutters.

"Scott, you'll love it here. Once you'll be able to see though." She giggles. The boy didn't laugh though. She took a gulp and turned to the professor. "So, Professor what am I here for?"

"I thought you'd be the right fit for showing Mr. Summers around. He'll need to adjust to this school. Once we see what we have here, I think you'll get along just fine. So Scott, why don't you take off that bandage and we can have a look at what we're dealing with here."

Scott takes off the bandage, keeping his eyes closed. "Alex would you mind facing him in the right direction. There's a target just across the water. When you open your eyes try and hit it." Scott kept his eyes closed, shut so tight Hannah didn't think he'd ever open them.

"You can open your eyes Scott, there's nothing to be afraid of. It's quite-" Scott opened his eyes letting two red beams fly out, making Hannah scream and jump back in shock. The beams hit the water, then the target, and then the tree that the professor had sat under not to long ago.

Kids ran back in fright. When the commotion settled, people were scared and others seemed to think it was school. Hannah was amazed. Scott was an amazement.

The professor laughed. "My grandfather planted that tree when he was five years old. I used to swing from the branches itself." The tree started to break in half and then fell to the sides. "I think that is probably my favorite tree."

"So I guess you'll need a new reading spot?" Hannah guessed with a chuckle.

"Does that mean I'm expelled?" Scott asks.

"On the contrary, you're enrolled."

Hannah placed a hand on his arm. "Congrats Scott. You're one of us." Scott didn't want to smile at that fact. But he could hear the eagerness in her voice, the joy radiating from her. He started to smile just a bit, the first time since he got this gift.
