"well i'm not isabelle" they replied and she froze recognising the voice behind herself.

"oh" she replied stupidly not knowing what else to say as she kept her stare ahead, she could sense his hesitation before he spoke again "do you mind if i join you?"

She sighed, she knew she should say no or walk away but she had realised she was in love with this boy and he was exactly who she wanted with her right now so instead she nodded.

She watched as he sat down beside her and for a moment it was all quiet until he turned to face her and spoke up "isabelle told me what happened, i'm sorry"

"It's not your fault" she replied dismissively, scared to spill all her thoughts which clogged her mind. He grabbed her chin gently and made her look at him "talk to me" he said smiling at her wanting her to open up to himself.

She paused for a moment before speaking "it's just whats wrong with me you know that no one i ever date or like actually likes me back, they always want someone that isn't me"

A pained expression filled his face as he stared into her eyes hating to see her hurt like this and all he wanted to do was admit how in love with her he was and how they were all idiots to let her go, that'd he would never do the same but instead he sighed.

"there's nothing wrong with you" he said and he could see the way she didn't believe him so he continued "you're one of the best people i've ever met. You're so gorgeous, funny, smart and the sweetest person ever. You care so much about everyone around you and will do whatever to help everyone"

Her breath got caught in her throat from his words, they were sincere and she felt herself smile slightly. "why'd you leave then?" she asked and his face fell "what?" he questioned.

"i can't be that great because you started to distance yourself away from me again. I thought we promised each other that we weren't going to lose our friendship again" she said her voice quiet as she spoke the thoughts that have hurt her for the last couple weeks.

He stared at her, his face pained. He opened and closed his mouth multiple times looking for the right words "i just.. it was stupid and i regretted it as soon as i did it" he finally said.

She looked over his face examining all his features and how perfect his face seemed to be "i really missed you" she spoke up timidly.

He smiled, "you wouldn't even believe how much i missed you" She smiled at his words and they stared at each other for a while "so are we good now?" she questioned and he nodded wanting nothing more.

"These last few weeks have been so painful" he said and she felt herself smile at his confession feeling less alone. Though she still didn't understand why it had happened in the first place she was glad to have malachi back.

Though she didn't have him in the way she longed too, she was still glad to have him back in her life and to know that he does still care and no matter what happens they still have each other.

Malachi stared at her face, she seemed to be lost in thought though she was smiling brightly and he couldn't stop himself from looking at the way her cheeks were red because of the chilly night air or the way her whole face light up when she stared at the sky, it shining and filling her eyes with stars.

She looked over at him and her eyes fell onto the bruise that was on his face and she frowned "why'd you do it?" she asked and he stayed silent for a second thinking of how to answer.

"he was saying shit about you and i don't know i just got so angry at him and one thing led to another" he confessed avoiding eye contact.

Mariah smiled "you didn't have to fight him, i don't care what he says about me" she said laughing and he smiled.

He wanted to tell her how he felt but knew it wasn't the right time, they had finally become friends again and jordan had literally just cheated on her not long ago. So instead he simply enjoyed the moment between them being glad that they once again had each other.
