⋆˚ real life

Lunch had finally come round and she couldn't be more glad. She walked up to their table and noticed enzo, isabelle and jordan already sitting there.

They all smiled up at her as she sat beside jordan. "what you guys talking about?" she asked, enzo laughed "there was a fight last night"

"oh who?" she questioned not remembering a fight happening when she was at the party but she had been really out of it.

Isabelle began to laugh "you won't believe it". She groaned "just tell me!"

"it was malachi and kai" enzo said smirking, clearly amused or aware of something she didn't know about. Her eyebrows furrowed as she couldn't recall any injuries on malachi when they met after the party but she does know bruises do take a couple hours to form.

This still didn't help her confusion on why mal had fought her ex and unwillingly she was worried for the boy. She now noticed the slight tense in jordan's jaw about the situation so tried not to make her interest too obvious when she asked "do you know why they fought?"

Isabelle shook her head clearly disappointed she didn't know while enzo claimed he didn't though the smirk on his face gave her the hint that he actually did.

She noticed elijah and carla walk up to them and greet them as they sat down. "our teacher forced us to leave so late" eli groaned, annoyed. Everyone laughed at their misery though mariah couldn't stop herself from wondering where mal was.

It had been around half of their lunch time and malachi was still no where in sight and mariah was trying to remind herself that she shouldn't care where he was but that was practically an impossible task.

She noticed from the corner of her eyes his arrival finally. He was walking up to the group and seemed to notice jordan who just in that moment put his hand over her shoulders and his jaw tensed.

As he came closer, she noticed the obvious bruising on his cheek and the slight injuries on his hands and instantly felt herself be worried for him. Looking away from his bruises she noticed him looking at her though he quickly looked away.

He sat down and everyone other than mariah and jordan cheered in excitement for his late arrival. There was an awkward tension between the whole group as they sat there.

Everyone could feel it and though they conversed the conversation was much more mundane as everyone felt the uncomfortable feeling in the air. Mariah noticed the way mal would avoid her eye completely and though she had expected this it still hurt that they were still on no contact.

The bell went signalling the end of lunch and she sighed when she realised that she shared this lesson with mal. She awkwardly walked off sensing malachi not far behind her as they walked silently to their shared lesson.
