Mariah Iris hates school but who in reality doesn't. All the lessons are a bore and drag on for what feels like hours and then once you've survived a whole day you repeat the cycle over and over.

Her home life wasn't much better, her parents seemed to find pleasure in always arguing no matter who was around. If you were in the cross fire the shouting would be turned towards you saying the most hurtful words parents can say. Even so they are strict and expect the best from her and her younger sister, lucie, not allowing them to make mistakes as their children need to be perfect in their eyes.

Mariah has always took the burden for her and her sister trying to shield her from her parents words which cut deeply like a knife. Though every time the scar begins to heal the knife once again is stabbed cutting you even more and more.

The one escape she has from it all is her guitar and music. It is the one comfort that she grips onto when things go wrong. She spills all her emotions in a book creating music which she's much too scared to show anyone. Inside those pages, are her most sacred and important emotions which are written down as soon as they get too overwhelming to keep inside herself. They reflect her and her feelings.

The songs are mixes of sadness, anger, jealousy and love which showcase her whole life story and anything she's ever thought webbed into beautiful lyrical masterpieces.

She will admit most of her songs she cried while writing having felt such overwhelming tension and sadness from people who've done her wrong. Though scattered across are beautiful songs about the better parts of life where she was the most happiest and experienced the most joy and love.

Lately the pages have become withered and dehydrated from the sheer lack of ink writing on them. Ever since her breakup (which caused a huge amount of songs and lyrics to be scribbled) life has been quite monotone.

She knows she shouldn't complain but much hasn't happened recently instead the days have seemed to blur past without second thought. And now with the breakup her eyes seem to land back onto an old crush of hers she's been trying to forget about.

A great example of this is the english lesson she is in right now. She has no clue what the teacher is on about and honestly she doesn't care, english is her best subject so she doesn't tend to stress over it.

Anyway the reason she has no idea what the teacher is saying is because her eyes seem to have another idea discreetly looking over at Malachi Barton.

Malachi, there's so much she could say about him. He is honestly one of the finest guys she's ever seen but even so that isn't the only reason she's seems to have had a crush on him since they were children.

They used to be quite close friends growing up which is when her crush had started. He was incredibly sweet, funny and always there for mariah protecting her from people who found it funny to make fun of her. He is the only person who knows about her fucked up parents and she's never felt comfortable telling over people.

They drifted away during the years and her biggest regret is allowing it. She wished she grabbed onto him and tried harder in keeping contact.

But now they are in different circles of friends. She's always had jealously and longing towards his friend group. They all are the nicest and funniest people you'll ever meet who seem ready to die for the others if need be. They seem to make any situation fun and are always out making memories that will last a decade.

She does not have that but she knows she shouldn't complain as she's the reason for that because even though she has a longing for it she can't seem to actually find the motivation to go out much preferring the comfort of her room.

Her best friend (and her only friend but we don't talk about that) isabelle is everything that mariah isn't. She is so incredibly beautiful and talented in practically everything she does, she's effortless at getting along with anyone she interacts with. She also finds it easy to go out and always has something planned. She knows practically everyone in the school including malachi and his friends. She's really close with a lot of them especially now that she is dating enzo, one of the guys from the group.

He is sweet and seems to care a lot about isabelle though they haven't been dating long yet. But now mariah's scared that her best friend will also drift away from her before she can stop it.

She doesn't consider herself a completely awkward person as when she's around the correct people she's loud, outgoing and quite confident but that all seems to be masked in a facade of anxiety and quietness.

Though she longs to go out to parties and have fun she always finds a special kind of comfort in sitting in her room watching disney movies like a child.

She wants to change the way things are but struggles when everything in her life seems to constantly pull her down and drown her with horrible anguish.

this is definitely just an introduction to our girl mariah you should be ready for a lot of angst but cute moments as well !

It might feel like it goes quick at the start but i'm gonna try to make this a slow burn
