Sometimes a pillow fight can end badly
We spent most of the day watching films with a massive bowl of chocolate, until we were called for dinner. Dad and Seb had cooked, but judging from their appearance they had also done a lot of kissing. After dinner we set up the spare bed in my room. Yes, we had plenty of guest bedrooms, but if Merlin slept in one of them, then we weren't able to talk, and that was boring. We then got changed into pajamas, and sat on my bed in front of my laptop to finish our fifth film. I couldn't help but notice exactly how Merlin sat, how his pajamas had Star Wars character heads all over them, how a strand of his hair was out of place. I ended up watching him rather than the film. Dad put his head around my door, making Merlin look up. "Do you two want hot chocolate?" he asked.
"Dad!" I groaned, annoyed that he had ruined what little moment there was. "We're not six." Dad nodded, and left.
Merlin looked at me. "Actually, you know, I wouldn't mind."
I groaned. "You're such a child."
"No, you are." He said. I grabbed my pillow, and hit him with it. "You see? You act like you're seven." Merlin said.
I whacked him across the face with a pillow.
He retaliated by grabbing a second pillow, and hitting me. We fought for a while, but then I remembered something.
"Wait a second." I said. I quickly put my laptop on my desk, before jumping onto my bed, holding my pillow in readiness to hit him. He retaliated by hitting me with his pillow, but I tried to grab it. We fought again, and I was loosing.
I paused for a second to catch my breath, trying to ignore my friend, who was pounding my head with a pillow. At that point I realised what position we were in. It wouldn't have been too awkward, apart from the fact that he was as straight as a ruler, and I was gay and in love with him. Even if he didn't know that I loved him. My mind made the situation dirtier than it was.
He stopped hitting my head, realising that I wasn't retaliating. "what's up?"
"Dude. You realise what this must look like?"
"No. Wha.. Oh." He too realised. He was pinning me down by sitting on my pelvis. Not awkward at all... Well, only awkward for him.
He stared at me, calculating. Almost weighing up his opinions.
And then, he was leaning down.. My mind was racing, and then all thoughts were driven from my head as his lips met mine. Fuck no.. I did not need another reason to love you. I had just come to terms with the fact that you will never like me back..
"Now. How about that hot chocolate?" Merlin asked, standing up.
"What the fuck, dude?" I asked, but he had already left my room. I followed him, confused.
By the time I had gotten into the kitchen, he had already made hot chocolate in two mugs. "Where do you keep marshmallows?" he asked.
"Cupboard just to your left. Are we going to talk about this?"
He sat down in front of me, and stirred his hot chocolate thoughtfully. "Hmm.. No." he put some marshmallows into his drink.
"Why not?" I asked, trying not to shout and alert Dad that we were still up.
"Because." Merlin said.
"That isn't a good enough answer! I want answers! Why did you kiss me, for starters! And why did you just end it like that?"
"Because it was an experiment." Merlin said.
"So it meant nothing to you? What were you experimenting anyway? Why did you test it on me? Just why, for fucks sake!"
"Because I thought I loved you!" Merlin said back, angrily. He stopped, realising what he had said.
"And now, do you still love me?" I asked, shocked, before drinking a bit of hot chocolate.
"I don't know.." Merlin said, inspecting the marshmallows in his mug. "I.. I guess I would know if we kissed again."
"Sure." I said, trying to not sound too exited. I got up, and went to sit next to him.
It was the best kiss in the world, and once it was finished, I asked him quietly. "Now? How do you feel?"
"I.. I'm sure." And he kissed me again.
I didn't have to ask what he was sure about, to know.
