No more lies
TRIGGER WARNING, MENTIONS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT.
✨✨✨✨✨
Nejire wanted to talk about her job.
She legally was not allowed to say a word. Not to her mom, her friends, probably Ryuko. She had to know what was going on, especially with Shinya and her literally living together.
"How was it?" Malachi asked, looking at his daughter.
"I'm gonna be working for him!" She squealed. "But, I'm just an assistant, nothing else." She shrugged. "Easy money."
"Either way, I'm proud of you." He whispered, kissing her forehead.
"Thanks dad." She grinned and buckled up, getting ready to go home. An office job sounded boring but she got to decorate his office with colors. Maybe she could help sort things out so he wouldn't have to struggle to read? Like, the T's are a Indigo.
Nejire was kinda thinking about Tamaki. She associated a simple letter T with a guy she only met once. He was so sweet and now she was working for the people who hurt him. She felt like a bad person.
"Dad, you wanna watch a movie when we get home?" Nejire asked. "Ask mama too! I wanna watch a movie."
"I love that you call me dad." He sighed. Nejire knew this was about to be one of their sentimental moments where he might cry.
"Why? You are my dad. You've raised me better than that sperm bag." She shrugged, not seeing the big deal.
"I know, but still. We get weird looks all the time because, ya know." He was talking about his skin. Her mother was already darker skinned. Her sperm bag was white, explaining her pale complexion, and Malachi was half black, half white. It did look a little odd to have two dark skinned "parents" have a pale child.
"They don't know what goes on in our lives, so let them look at us weird." Nejire shrugged, looking her father dead in his green eyes. "You're my dad either way. Not my mom's sperm bag, but my dad." She said, putting a hand on his. He was always really sensitive and took his glasses off to cry.
"You're so big and smart now! You have a job, and you're not that little baby who thought I was the coolest person because I made your mom happy." He cried, so proud of his daughter getting so much accomplished.
"I'm always gonna be your little baby! Don't cry or I'll cry too!" Nejire gasped, sad that her dad was sad.
"It's fine, it's fine, it's fine. We can totally watch a movie together!"
"You got that worked up because I asked to watch a movie?"
"You know I'm sensitive! And anxious. Definitely anxious.
"Love you too dad."
✨✨✨✨✨
As they watched their movie, Nejire couldn't stop thinking about how she wanted to ask Ryuko about the S.U.N.S and how she knew about them. The way she said "I don't know much about them" and "it's pretty boring", were obvious lies.
"Neji? This is your favorite movie." Her dad chuckled and she fell out of her thoughts again.
"I know, I know, sorry I'm really distracted today." Nejire said sliding onto her dad's shoulder. He began running his hand through her hair.
"Is it because of your rehearsal this weekend?"
"Yeah. It's kinda nerve racking."
They were testing the place out and decorating a bit for their performance. Ryuko had several classes, even her own, was having a recital. So Nejire was going to be sitting in the audience for about three hours, and the last performance should be Ryuko's group of adult women.
Most of the groups were taught by Ryuko, so the last group must've been from her company? That company made Nejire sick to her stomach just thinking about it. Because of them, Ryuko had taken up smoking, damaged her feet, and was constantly worried about how skinny she was.
"Everything alright?" Malachi asked, brushing her hair as she started to think about an excuse.
"Is Ryuko alright?" She asked. It was the only reasonable question at the moment. She seemed startled by a lot of things now, and her company was disgusting.
"I'm sure she is, why do you ask?" Her dad asked, pausing the movie.
"She seems startled by everything. Lies about a lot of stuff now... plus, her company is really... harmful I guess?"
"She may be going through some stuff and not ready to share with anyone."
"I mean, Shinya obviously plays along." Nejire grumbled. "So she's lying to me..."
"Then maybe you should ask, and if she doesn't want to tell you, let it go. Maybe it's a good thing you don't know." He shrugged, going back to the movie.
Maybe. Maybe not. Who knew.

Friday afternoon
Ryuko and Nejire were hanging out like they usually do. Nejire finally took in the entire house, walking through it, seeing every room.
"What's this one for Ryuko?" Nejire asked, looking at a guest room. It had purple walls, Pixie lights, and a large tapestry on the wall. It had the zodiacs and the galaxy in a large circle.
"Oh, Shinya's little sister? Reiko, she plans on moving in with us. Shinya actually decorated this entire room."
And his office really looked that boring? Damn.
"She's really into the occult and stuff. Really cool. Kinda creepy, but really cool!" Ryuko said, enthusiastic about the girl's interests, despite not caring much at all. "You wanna see Shinya and I's room? It's so gorgeous. We picked out everything together." She smiled. She was really happy and proud of their room.
Nejire nodded and followed her.
Their room was a very pale tint of blue. A grass wall behind the shared bed, and a grey comforter with a white blanket and pale blue throw pillows.
"It's so pretty, oh my goodness." Nejire gasped, sitting on the bed. There were two nightstands, and a white butterfly chair. Nejire was amazed by how good it looked. "I love the wall." She said, sitting down on the bed.
"Oh yeah, that was my idea! Shinya wanted to put a fairy light curtain behind us and an egg chair instead."
"That would look ok I guess." Nejire shrugged.
"That's what I said! I told him it would look better in his office anyways. Ya know, the light wall?"
"Speaking of his work and all, I wanted to ask something." Nejire murmured and pulled Ryuko onto the bed with her. "Can you be honest? You don't have to tell me, but I don't want to be lied to anymore."
Ryuko looked pale. Like she had seen a ghost.
"How do you know about Shinya's job? There was a contract, and you obviously know about it. How'd you find out?" Nejire asked.
Ryuko's eyes dilated. Nejire knew for a fact that she was scared and wasn't interested, just by the way her pupils shrank. She learned it in a psychology class. Her feet pointed towards the door; she wanted to leave.
Nejire was fixated on this. Had been since yesterday. What did she want to hear? Some story where she almost joined maybe? She didn't know but she wanted a reason. How she and Shinya fell in love, how she knew about his job, anything she lied about. The Korean place, she knew something was up there too.
"I... I... I don't, I-" Ryuko was stammering and her eyes became glassy.
"You don't have to tell me, I don't want you to cry."
"Sorry, it's just a really hard to explain story." She whispered, holding Nejire's hand. "If I say I don't want to continue, you're going to respect that, right?"
"Of course." She was intrigued, but was following her dad's advice. She wasn't entitled to be told anything and she wanted to make sure Ryuko knew that. "You wanna stop, I'll respect it. You don't have to say a word if you aren't comfortable. I just don't like being lied to."
Nejire had never been comfortable being lied too. Lies about her biological father, lies about anything. She was annoyed by lies from a young age. Especially when she realized her dad wasn't her dad.
"Ok... I'll explain..."

I added the trigger warning for next chapter. It will change to Sexual assault, not mentions of it. I advise to not read it if you are sensitive to the topic and wait for the chapter after it.
