Luna
The day had to be full of coincidences. He opened the door to look outside, because she loved hanging out in the flowerpot next to the door.
Leaving the door open a tiny sliver had to be the perfect opportunity for Luna to dash right past his feet. Tamaki let out a frustrated scream and chased after Luna. He prayed she wouldn't get too far or anything.
"Luna!" Tamaki shouted, running after her. He just learned today that cats ran so fast he, who literally had superhuman abilities, couldn't keep up. "You little-"
He didn't know why she hated him so much, other than how cold he was. He was cold because he was dead! She probably didn't know that.
The dumb cat ran all the way into the city. It was a surprise he even kept up with her. How the hell was the cat not tired. He had to jog behind her instead of running in order to not have any suspicion.
He ended up pushing people out of the way, and apologized each time.
Now, where was she? He literally didn't see her anywhere, and the crowds of teenagers trying to get home became less full. Now there was only two people really hanging around on the street, and Luna was no where in sight.
The only thing he really knew what to do was to start doing that little cat call. It was embarrassing but it usually got her to come out.
"Pspspsps." He whispered, walking through the streets. Now that there was less people, it was less weird, but still awkward and embarrassing for him. "Luna, it's not safe out here!"
He turned the corner to travel to a different block. He was directly in front of Nejire's cafe. Or her mom's cafe at least. Nejire wasn't inside, but her mom and dad were. He didn't know if that was actually her dad, because he looked nothing like her.
He heard faint meowing as he continued to call for Luna, and it led him directly to a man and young girl, about fifteen. The girl was knelt down, picking up Luna.
"I wanna name her Bloom."
"We already have two cats, do you really need one?" He asked. He had a white coat, a flower embroidered on his breast, and he wore a mask. Damn... it was a white coat. Tamaki was in danger, but Luna was a welcoming gift to the Toyomitsu home. He couldn't leave without her. "Fine, give her to me and go pick out what you want."
"Bye Shinya!" The young girl said.
✨✨✨
Shinya held the cat and stayed outside only because he didn't want a repeat of what happened three years ago. He blamed himself for most of his girlfriend's fears. Alleyways, being out alone at night, play fighting. Most of Ryuko's fears came from that one night where he left her for a few minutes and he got that text with nothing but a location.
"Hey, um... e-excuse me?"
"Yes?" Shinya turned around to see a black haired boy. They were the same height, but the boy slouched, making him appear shorter.
"I'm sorry, but this is my kitten. Her name is Luna." He whispered. Shinya looked down at the kitten's neck. She didn't have any identification on her. "I have a photo of her and my cousin if that's enough. Sorry for disturbing you." The boy mumbled, pulling out his phone, showing a photo of Ryuko's niece holding the cat.
"Oh, it's Tatami. I didn't know she had a cousin..." Shinya frowned, squinting at the boy. He noticed the sharp teeth he had, but didn't want to say anything. They looked like normal canine teeth, just a bit sharper. Canine teeth in vampires appeared to look more like fangs rather than meek little canine teeth a normal person would have. His ears were a bit pointy though. "Do I know you?"
"I-I... No? I don't know." He shrugged, holding his cat tightly. Luna hopped out of his arms again. "Luna, please stop." He begged as Luna ran behind Shinya's legs. "I'm sorry, she doesn't like me much."
Shinya thought he looked a little too inhumane. Pale skin, no coloring at all. Just white skin. He could understand that himself though, he was extremely pale and so was Reiko, but this boy looked like he had no blood flowing.
"Cats and I just have a special connection. My sister is into witchcraft and says it's all fortune telling about future problems. Comes in handy with my line of work. Bet you would know that, huh?" He said, looking directly at the glass window of the cafe. He could see his little sister ordering food, and the boys clothes. Not the boy. He didn't even see his eye, just his mouth, hair, and ears.
"Not really? I'll be on my way now." He nervously laughed before leaving with Luna.
"Bye."
"Who was that?" Reiko asked. "Wait! Where's the kitten?"
"It was his cat Reiko. I gave her back." He explained. "Did you get something for Ryuko too?" He asked, taking whatever she got for him.
"The lady thought I was friends with her daughter so she gave me free food. So yeah."
"Oh, her daughter is my assistant, you two are probably gonna get along."
"If she's as bubbly as her mother, no. We won't." Reiko rolled her eyes and took a bit out of her cinnamon bun. It was really good. "Let's go, I'm tired."
"Oh, yeah, I have to show you our place. I decorated your room based off a Pinterest photo Ryuko showed me. She thought you'd like it, and she's really nervous about you liking it."
"Whatever. I just wanna sleep to be honest."
"Just promise to say thank you. She tried to help as much as she could."
"Fine."
✨✨✨✨✨
Luna is a piece of garbage.
And yes, cats are important if you're wondering why I use so many in this book.
Reiko is here! She's gonna commit petty crimes everybody!
