Broken Glass

Tw and Content warning: Sexual Harassment and assault, Asian Hate, Attempted R@p3.

Yes, what I put in this chapter classifies as Asian Hate. It's fetishization, and turns nasty very fast. Sexual harassment and assault is very prominent, so be careful while reading. This is the only scene in the book that is going to specifically be about the sexual assault. I will allude to it every now and then, but there will not be another chapter based entirely on this scene.

So I went back because I was having trouble writing the next scene. Plus, this is a lot darker, than last time.

Three years ago

"Shinya?" Ryuko asked, looking at the silver haired male. They had run into each other so many times, she thought he was stalking her!
They had mutual friends and had been friends after running into each other so many times. They hung out all the time now.

"Oh. Hello." He said. He had been a bit stiff around her since the wedding they met at. It was their friends, Yu Takeyama and Shinji Nishiya's, and they were part of the wedding parties. So that was interesting.

"So, where are you headed?" She asked, walking up next to him, and walking alongside him.

"Oh. Nowhere really." He said, pressing a mask up to his face. She raised an eyebrow before continuing to walk. "Do you have anywhere to be?" He asked. She thought about it and nodded.

"Wait, I don't wanna distract you from where you need to be." She said before she even said where she needed to be.

"It's fine! I promise, it's fine. I'll walk you wherever. It's really dangerous after dark." He insisted. It sure was. Especially with that creep that he always saw following her. She noticed him all the time. Brown hair, green or maybe hazel eyes.

"Fine. Hmm... I don't know what's open right now, but I do know that I need to get to a store. And eat. I can get food when I get home though." She said, tracking everything she needed to get done. "It's late and I'm so tired." Ryuko yawned.

"Where'd you just come from? You're pretty dressed up."

"Oh, ballet lessons for my teen class. I'm a ballet instructor." She said, getting an obvious confused look from Shinya. "Yes, I teach ballet."

"It's not surprising, but it still is." He laughed to himself. She pouted at him and lightly punched his shoulder. "I thought Ballerinas were supposed to be graceful." He teased her and she frowned. "And you taught in that?" He asked, looking at her outfit.

She wore a beige coat, black ripped jeans, and black heels.

"No, I changed into this." She said, looking straight ahead. "Do you know if any buses are still running? Or a taxi?" Ryuko grumbled, still needing a way home after getting to the store. This bullshit ramen and Tylenol better be worth it. It was already 9:50.

"No, I don't think anything is running right now. I could drive you home?"

"It's fine, I'll just walk." She said. She didn't wanna interrupt his night, especially with the way he was walking. "I appreciate the offer though."

"What do you need to grab in the store?" He asked.

"Eh, just Tylenol and instant noodles really." She shrugged, looking at her calendar. Her period was supposed to come soon and she always had awful cramps. "I'm really tired though, I'm probably gonna grab just the Tylenol and maybe head over to a friend's house? It's closer." She mumbled, placing her phone back in her pocket.

"If you're tired, I'll grab the stuff you need? It's not a big deal." He said, motioning to a bench outside of the store. Ryuko pouted.

"Are you sure it isn't embarrassing?"

"I promise. It's fine. Just sit down, and I'll grab the stuff you need." Shinya said, leaving her at the bench. She looked up at him as he looked down at her. "You have my number, call me if you need me?" He shrugged. She nodded and slouched on the metal bench.

Ryuko sat there, listening to music. She was contemplating taking her shoes off and walking home barefoot, but she would probably step on some beer bottle glass or something. She made a quick mental note to not wear heels anymore. She probably had even worse blisters now.

As she waited, she was ready to doze off. She didn't like sleeping on benches or anything, but she was really tired.

"Hey." A man said. He was tall and obviously worked out. Ryuko bit the inside of her cheek and looked at the store for Shinya to hurry up.

"Hi?" She waved at him, not wanting to be rude or come across that way.

"Can I just say you're so pretty! You look just like Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui ." He said. No.

She did not look like Yumeko from Kakegurui. She had blonde hair and yellow eyes, just like her brother. Yumeko had black hair, and princess bangs.

"T-thank you?" She stammered, confused by his comment. She looked nothing like Yumeko and was confused. She began to take her shoes off, scared of this guy already. She heard about this all the time. People saying Asian women looked like anime characters, objectifying them, or fetishizing them, and would do numerous awful things when the women got annoyed or didn't act like an anime girl, or their "waifu".

"No! You look a lot like Lucy Heartfilia." He began. She was officially getting uncomfortable and disturbed by this guy. "You know, cuz your both blonde, and..." he looked at her chest and was disappointed to see how covered up she was. "You're both blonde!"

"Not really. We have two different shades of blonde." Ryuko tried to at least make conversation while Shinya was inside. The guy in front of her sat next to her and began to introduce himself.

"My name's Aden." He said, running a hand through his brown hair. His hazel eyes were terrifying to Ryuko. She might have been shaking from how scared she was. "What's yours? Ooh, wouldn't it be funny if it was Runa? Like from Kakegurui? You look more like her than Yumeko now that I think about it. Or Misa!"

"Ha..." she nervously laughed as Aden wrapped his arm around her shoulder. She felt a lot weaker from him just touching her. She didn't know what to say either. Didn't know if she even had the energy to scream in fear.

"There's a nice ramen place nearby. It's still open. I know you probably love ramen."

"Sorry, uh... I have a boyfriend!" She lied, moving his hand from her. His automatic response was to place his hand on her thigh instead of being respectful about her rejecting his advances. "He's inside right now actually."
That ramen comment made her even more uncomfortable about this guy.

She felt even weaker with his hand on her thigh.

"Can you stop? I'm uncomfortable with this." She whispered.

"You're fine." He said through closed teeth. Ryuko felt that sickening feeling in her stomach. It felt sweet and sank low in fear, but her saliva tasted like salt, like the saliva right before you throw up.

Ryuko picked her shoe up and hit Aden with it before getting up to run away. Aden grabbed her hand and tried to force her back down. She pushed him away and ran off, barefoot.

Her feet were cut up by the sharp pebbles, broken glass, etc on the California roads. She was weak and running with a limp because of her cut up feet. She already walked with a tiny limp because of ballet, but right now, she was running on pure adrenaline and a very obvious limp.

Pulling out her phone, she started to call Shinya. He was the closest, plus he was so adamant about walking her so she'd be safe. Then she started thinking it'd be best to just share her location so he could get to her faster.

"I know everything about you Ryuko." Aden's voice echoed as she accidentally ran into an alleyway while trying to call Shinya. "Did you notice me? I love you so much, and I didn't know how to tell you. Now you're here, all for me." He mumbled. "Am I supposed to bow to you to show my appreciation?"

Ryuko didn't know what to say as to not anger him. She didn't want to make him even angrier, knowing a lot of women in her situation didn't make it out without a few scars from it.

"I can smell the fear from here, and can I just tell you, that is so adorable. You're like a delicate little flower." Aden said backing her into the corner. "You're so gorgeous and frail. I guess that comes with being a ballerina. Maybe that's why you were so slow." He laughed. "I have you a little head start." He whispered.

Ryuko was pushed to the ground and hit her head on the pavement. She tried to sit up before being pushed back to the ground.

"S-stop, please." She whispered as her stalker kneeled down, pinning her to the pavement. She didn't even have the energy to push him off. "You're disgusting." She hissed, not caring that he was in control of the situation.

"Yeah yeah, whatever." He grumbled. He was getting irritated by her. Ryuko attempted to push him off, pressing her knee up to his naval and her hands on his upper arms.

He was struggling trying to take off her coat and shirt with her hands and knee holding him up. "You damned bitch." He mumbled, losing the "I love you" act he had been doing. "I thought you were supposed to be weak like the others." He grumbled, getting her shirt rolled up to her chest, revealing her naval and a line of her bra.

Ryuko kicked him in his private parts but with her large lack of energy, it hardly did a thing.

Her head was throbbing with pain and her body wasn't doing what she wan- needed to do. It felt like she had been sedated.

Out of nowhere, Aden fell on her, unresponsive. She just stared at him and watched a shoe kick him off of her. "Are you ok?"

Shinya was in front of her, shoving something into his jacket pocket. His outfit was simple. A white coat with a flower embroidered on his breast, and a normal outfit underneath.

Instead of saying anything, she shook her head and began crying even more. Her head injury induced a large amount of pain just from her shaking her head.

"Hey, I've got you. Sorry for taking so long. I couldn't find your stuff or you." He whispered, not wanting to cause a headache or migraine for her since she had clearly been pushed to the ground.

"What'd you do to him?" She asked, looking at her assaulter. She was surprised that he fell so fast. "Is he dead?"

Shinya looked at her and took her hand into his, rubbing her knuckles gently. "He already was. I put him to rest, but he didn't deserve the easy way out." He whispered. "I had to kill him."

"He was already dead?"

Shinya pulled out a badge. An angels trumpets flower in rose gold, saying something in French, and "S.U.N.S".

"I'm a part of the Undead Unit of the S.U.N.S organization. That man wasn't alive and hasn't been for many years. I'm permitted to kill anything that should be dead." He explained, helping her up. She slowly watched as Aden's body began to disappear in a cloud of grey dust. "From our files, he's an incubus and a vampire mix."

"A what?"

"Incubi, sex demons? Male version of the succubus." He grumbled. "Are you feeling weak after that encounter?"

She nodded, despite the pain it caused her.

"Yeah, incubus. Sorry if I ask too many questions, I'm required to. Did he try to bite you?" Ryuko shook her head. "Most of his victims have been Asian women. They were all killed shortly after encountering him."

Ryuko began crying even more. She didn't realize he was planning to do even more after whatever he was going to do.

"My head really hurts." She whispered, barely able to raise her voice.

Shinya helped her up and sat her down on a dumpster so he could examine her quickly. "Can I hold you? You can pick how, but I don't think you'll be able to walk very well." He asked. She nodded and he had her riding on his back.

"Where do you want to go from here? I can bandage your injuries and give you Tylenol at my place, or if you have another plan?"

"Just take me back to your place." She whispered. "I just wanna eat right now." She mumbled, falling asleep on his back.

At his place, she was told to sit in a kitchen chair as he fixed up her head injury.

"Ryuko, can you remain quiet about tonight? It's a hard request and I hate to tell you this. Wait, I worded that wrong. If you get therapy or something, can you keep quiet about the whole S.U.N.S and supernatural entity stuff? I also need you to file a report about tonight." He said, whispering the entire time.

"S-sure. It's not a hard deal." She said, finally Able to talk with a bit of a normal voice.

"Thanks, I owe you a ton."

"I owe you so much more." She said, balling her hands up into a fist.

"No, absolutely not. You owe me nothing for tonight. No money, no gifts, nothing, I will refuse it." He scolded her, angry that she was too polite. "You can't be so polite Ryuko."

"I... I know but still... I owe you something at least."

"Fine. How about you and I go out to breakfast tomorrow and I eat off of your plate. Then you've repaid me. Alright?" He was completely serious but Ryuko laughed.

"Fine, heh. It would make me feel better."

"Then I'll be eating off your plate tomorrow."

✨✨✨✨✨✨

"That's how I found out, and we began dating a few months later. Breakfast every Saturday is still in effect." Ryuko giggled, a lot more happy about the story after detailing the happier parts.

Nejire felt sick for her friend after that conversation. Even if it had been three years ago.
