Chapter 9
Avia woke up the next morning, with a loud grumbling sound of her stomach. She hadn't eaten since lunch the day before. She decided to go downstairs. As she had expected, her parents were there with a stack of home made waffles, with chocolate chips, her favorite. She sat down at the table, and started to cut into her stack of warm waffles. She poured the syrup onto the stack, watching it oose into every nook and cranny. She cut into the stack, and let the piece fall into her mouth, the taste overwhelming her. The let out a small whimper of delight, before scarfing down the rest of the stack. After she had finished her breakfast, she went off to wash her sticky hands. By the time she returned, there was a table full of presents, ranging from family friends, to grandparents, to even her own parents. All in all, there were probably about twenty presents, her largest birthday ever.
"Happy birthday Avia, we love you," Sandra sang out, completely off key. It made both Avia and Scott cringe.
"Honey, just stick to singing things you actually can," Scott said, just waiting for scolding.
Sandra and Scott sang Avia happy birthday. Afterwards, she sat down at the end of the table, and selected a present. It was nicely sized, with a blue ribbon on top, and it was a tiger striped bag. She opened up the bag. Inside were five different outfits for Stripe. The was also a new I Phone case inside. It was black and white, with a tigers face on it. It looked as if it was a phantom, haunting the phone case. She selected the next gift. This one was a box, one that wasn't wrapped. "It must have been ordered online, and sent to the house," Avia thought to herself. She opened it. Inside was a bunch of new clothes. There were mostly scarves, but there was also a whole outfit, one that could match with every one of the five scarves in the gift perfectly.
Avia continued to open presents, getting nothing twice. She finally got down to the last gift. It was a bit smaller than most of the others, but it weighed nicely, like a picture frame. She opened it up, and inside was a brown box. Scott broke the tape seal, and Avia took out the second box that was inside. She had gotten the one thing that she had been wanting, an I-Pad Mini! Avia screamed out in joy. She glanced at the tag that said who had gotten it for her. it read Mom and Dad. She ran over to them, and gave them the biggest bear hug you had ever seen.
"We knew you would love it kiddo. I hope that this makes it up for all that happened yesterday," Scott said.
"It does, thank you so much!" Avia squealed. She was just so happy. All of a sudden, Stripe wobbled, and fell off of Avia's shoulder.
