Episode 9: Battle of Ryazan

After Frame had inspected the New Hardware that had been sent to the Grand Army he still had to find out one last thing and that was what Julia had said earlier, but even he knew that was a challenge far greater than anything considering she was as stubborn as he was.

As he walked around he slowly began to wonder on several things one being the thing Julia had said, but the other main thing was the Russian Army of India and its progress the Grand Army had been delayed but what was the progress of the Russian Army? To them however it didn't matter they were so close to Moscow they could see it in the distance, but one threat still remained....Ryazan.

That City was all that remained against the Grand Army and Moscow and soon Victory in the Russia Campaign, but even though it sounded like relief to everyone they still had to deal with Ryazan whether they liked it or not. When Frame stopped he had half expected Julia to be behind him or someone else, but instead it was Brandon who seemed to have something important to say let alone did he look tired from running it would look like.

"F-Frame I have news from our scouts." Frame looked at Brandon as he slowly catched his breath while standing straight now, but clearly Frame was waiting for this so obviously Important News.

"It's not good....The Russian Army of India have arrived....Their in Ryazan." Frame's face quickly went from a small calm look to a shocked and horrified expression. The Russian's had arrived ahead of Schedule and now he didn't know what to do considering they had made plans specifically for when they took Moscow they would battle the Russian Army there, but at Ryazan? This was not good at all.

"Ryazan?" Brandon nodded when Frame repeated what he said, but he looked at his friend with worry as his Friend just seemed to stare at nothing eye's widened still.

"Your Order's?" Frame looked at Brandon after he was snapped back in reality from his sudden words, but this news was still upsetting to him.

"I'm afraid we have no choice we're to close to Moscow to stop now....To Ryazan." Brandon looked at Frame with silence, but he only nodded before walking away to give the orders for one final battle.

"And get me Julia if you can find her." Brandon only continued to walk on yet he did hear what Frame said and he knew Brandon had heard him otherwise well it would be harder to find her then.

Though when he entered the main tent he used in the Camp he could only sit down in the chair next to the table thinking about the Russian Army at Ryazan he had to get to Moscow, but at what cost the loss of his entire Army?

"I'll have to risk it or we will all die anyway." Frame spoke to himself as he looked at the map on the table looking at the roads that lead to Moscow there had to be a way around Ryazan without alerting the Russian Army, but the thing was he couldn't find one there were stuck with going through Ryazan.

"There's never a easy solution to these kinds of things." Frame sighed as he laid back in the chair he didn't want this he wanted to fight the Russian's after they took Moscow, but now it would seem the Devil had caught up to him which in term was a common fraise along his men. As time went by Frame stared at the map losing track of everything that was going on around him and such, but when he heard someone step in he thought it was Julia yet it wasn't it was the Guard Captain John Venn.

"What is it John?" Frame looked at him as he saluted to Frame, but was met by the cold blank stare that usually came from Frame when he was waiting for a answer.

"We've checked the last of the Supplies, and Reinforcement's everything that we had hoped for actually came." Frame gave a simple nod as he looked at the Captain who in return just stood back waiting for him to speak.

"That's good to know, but get the Guard ready for today..." The Captain nodded and began to walk away but stopped when Frame started to speak.

"Oh and Captain tell the Guard that when we enter Moscow the first drinks go to them...You really showed the Russians true fighting out there Earlier." The Captain smiled and saluted one last time before turning around and walking out his shoes making loud clicking sounds as he walked away.

"Now back to preparing for battle." Frame looked back at the maps as he stared at the roads and the very landscape of what the battlefield would look like, but he had never encountered the Russian General Leading the Army of India yet if he was smart he would choose only one option the plains and hills of Ryaca.

"I'll attack him here." Frame quickly took a pen and circled the area of Ryaca he knew it would be a difficult task to defeat them at the hills, but anything was better than fighting in Ryazan itself. Although Penza was in there way it didn't matter that City was most likely abandoned by now and it's reserves moved to Ryazan, but it wouldn't stop them...No...No it wouldn't.

"You Called for me?" Frame looked up to see Julia who had been waiting at the door he hadn't even heard her walk in as he just stood as her.

"Yes I did but, you have something to tell me?" Frame could tell she had something to tell him he knew it too well the same look everyone gave him when they were about to drop a bomb shell or some good news.

"Yes I did, but I preferred for Brandon to bring this yet he's busy getting the Army ready." Frame looked at her in silence as he waited for her to speak.

"We've learned that our old friend the Count is in Ryazan with the Russian Army along with Prince Vadim, and of course the General who is leading the Russian Army." Frame looked at her with his fingers of both of his hands pressed together in front of his chin.

"So killing all three would mean a crippling blow to the Russian Army, and their will very good news." Frame grinned slightly thinking of how good this plan would work out for him and the Army, but as he finally stopped thinking he had almost forgot what he originally called Julia for.

"Right....Also what is that you said before when you left to give the orders to the troops before we attacked Samara, and don't lie like you always do I know your routine too well." The only response he got was silence she just stood there not saying a word before she walked out leaving the room.

Though it did matter to him really considering this was something he wanted to know, but what did matter at the moment was preparing for the battle of Ryazan which could possibly be the bloodiest battle in the Entire Campaign.

It was met a hour later by the sounds of Men marching did Frame's eyes finally looked up from the book he was reading, but once more he was displeased to know the Army was marching onward without his orders soon a worried Brandon came into the room holding his hand on his hip.

"We're ready and waiting for you of course." Frame looked at Brandon and then outside the window at the countless men who marched past it only to be followed by the older Tanks and the newer ones.

"Well we are burning sunlight now aren't we?" Frame smiled and quickly got up putting on his large coat they he always wore, including the gloves, and the Hat.

"Straight?" Frame held his arms out looking at Brandon clearly asking if his hat was on straight, but his only response was a slight smile from his friend and a nod.

"Then let's get going." Frame motioned his hand forward to let Brandon leave first which he did only to be followed by Frame soon after into the cold Winter storm outside.

"Status of the Army?" Frame walked with Brandon next to him as they both walked to their horses which were being kept still due to the soldiers holding their reins.

"Fairly good with the Guard in combat yesterday the Men's morale has gone up considerably, but its still a surprise of how much training they have theirs no foe they cant fight or lose to." Frame nodded putting his hand's behind his back listening to Brandon speak he was right though The Guard were the backbone of their Army if they ever broke which most likely would never happen all hell would break loose in their Ranks.

"Hm that's good to know." Frame smiled as they approached their horse's climbing on to both of them and taking the reins of both.

"So you speak to Julia?" Brandon spoke out asking his Friend a serious question as always.

"Not Really." Frame chuckled and rode away on his horse only to be followed soon after by Brandon who kept up with him on their way to possibly what could be their last battle.

After what seemed like Hours the Grand Army arrived in the full force this time ready for the Battle that could be their last, but some shook as they looked at the Army in front of them. The Russian's were careful truly as they had taken their positions well choosing to defend on a hillside, a small town to the west, and a small junction with small hills were most likely a strong force would be to hold their attack at.

Frame however sat there on his horse looking at the Russian Army with his binoculars, but he knew this strategy too well and he could tell what this Russian General was most likely going to hold the most during the battle.

"The Center there." Frame pointed to the Center where sure enough the Russian General himself was positioned with a large force of Russian Troops, but he didn't see The Count or the Prince it was most likely they were the two in charge of the other defense lines.

"Malcom!" Frame shouted loudly for anyone to hear around him and soon enough Malcom did come after hearing his name being called.

"You will lead our Cavalry to the town to the West do what you can to break their lines and make sure to eliminate the Prince." Malcom nodded to Frame's order and rode away knowing they he would have to wait for the signal on when to take his Regiment's to the town.

"Brandon tell several of our Regiments and our Tanks old and new to attack the Count's line do what you can to break it." Brandon nodded and looked at Frame waiting for what he was going to say before riding off.

"The rest of the Army will be a diversion and will attack the Center, and with it our Artillery will shell them to hell." Brandon nodded listening to what he said and soon after he rode off to give the orders to the Right Regiment's and the Tank's.

"Now we wait." It was at this time Frame had climbed off his horse and walked in front of it, but the horse was taken away by a Soldier who took it away to keep it safe. At the same Time everyone formed a small group behind him every single Marshall who served in the Grand Army was standing behind him waiting to watch the battle with him.

After the Men were in position the battle finally began when a lone Artillery round was fired from Russian's yet it looked like it came from the Count's side it looked like he was more clumsy and stupid than they thought.

However the Battle of Ryazan began and now the endless barrage from both Armies Artillery were the only thing heard as explosions were seen everywhere and sometimes close to the area where Frame and the others were.

The first Attack was made by Several Regiment's who had marched forward toward the center being shot by turret fire, machine gun fire, and Artillery fire. As for the Tank's and the other Regiment's they were making a starting progress against the Count's forces crushing them like bug's.

As for Frame and the other's they watched as the Battle continued as Explosions and other signs were happening around them, but Frame showed no Fear as he continued to walk back and forth in a line watching the battle with his Arm's crossed behind his back.

And then the order was given the sound of a low horn was heard as several more Regiment's the look of seven to eight at least over a hundred men were sent forward towards the middle losing men left and right of each other.

It was at this time that the Cavalry along with Malcom were now crossing the River to engage in their surprise attack on the Prince's forces, but as for the Men marching to the center they were currently in furious battle with the Russian Forces and eventually were reinforced with Cavalry who charged the Russian's on the hill losing Man and horse as they charged.

Frame watched the battle with a cold blank stare binoculars in his hand as he walked past the Others looking at the battle still with Regiment's marching past him every minute or so, but he stopped and looked at a wounded Officer who seemed to be still in the fight.

"Sir if we throw in one more division, the enemy will be beaten." The Officer looked at Frame after he gave him the report knowing he was waiting for him to speak.

"Not yet, It's easy to make mistakes in the heat of battle,Confirm and report to me." The Officer nodded and ran off to do as he was ordered as Frame returned to the others.

"We should send in some of the reserve, but What do you think?" Frame looked at Brandon who returned the look.

"Send in Claparède's division." After Brandon spoke a lone Artillery round landed next to them, but Frame kicked it away like it was nothing the fire was still there and scorched the ground still when he kicked it.

"I can't send that! Send in Friant's division instead." Frame shuddered as he heard the sound of another Artillery round being fired, but this time the Round hit behind them and after everyone turned around and looked at it though as for Frame he walked back and sat down in a chair someone had propped up for him at the start of the battle.

As the Battle continued the Tank's and their Regiment's had successfully broken through the Russian Defense line held by the Count and soon the man's life was taken with his Defenses.

At the Town Malcom and his forces were successful and had charged the Enemy lines killing many in their attack, but Malcom had the pleasure of killing the Prince himself when they both came into combat with each other although it just took one slash of a sword across the Prince's face to kill the man instantly.

The Battle was finally going in their favor and soon a Officer approached Frame who was still sitting down as Artillery shells and rounds were exploding all around him.

"Sir, the Count and the Prince are dead!" The Officer laughed and stared at Frame who only stared at the last line of defense.

"Now is the time tell Marshall Malcom to bring his forces around the Enemy to cut off their escape, and also with the Tank's it's time to finish this." Frame nodded to the Officer who simply nodded back and ran away to give the orders, but now was the time for the final push their reserves awaited for instructions and Frame would give the order himself.

Frame stared at the Center at where the Russian General Kuvetion was and it looked like his Army couldn't take much more, but Frame smiled as he walked over to a nearby Officer who was holding a horn.

"Charge." Frame told the Officer who nodded and blew the horn and with it every single Cavalry Regiment that was left in the reserve charged forward like a storm towards the Hill with the last of the Infantry Regiment's following behind.

The Russian Cavalry that stood before them counter charged as well they looked like a storm as both sides clashed against each other with Soldiers being thrown off their horses and each fighting each other with Gun's or sword's.

As for the Tank's and Malcom's divisions they had managed to outflank the enemy, but not before the Russians fell into the trap which had every Artillery piece Old and New aiming at the hill.

"Fire!!!" The Artillery sounded like a large thunder storm as every piece fired at the same time hitting the Enemy Cavalry, or hitting the Artillery positions on the hill and for the first time ever Frame grinned wider than he had ever before when he saw Kuvetion's horse fall on its side and soon seeing several Russians carry his lifeless body away.

"Victory?, Victory." Frame smiled as he watched the Russian Army crumble against the sheer might of his Army as they chased down the remaining Russians who were fleeing, by the end of the hour only a little of a hundred escaped with their lives.

The Only thing Frame heard when he looked at the map was the countless Cheering behind him from the thousands of men who just achieved them a great Victory today, but now they were at a impasse and there it lay....Moscow....right before their Eyes.

"There it is, at last, that holy capital, There it is, at my feet, awaiting its destiny,Strange, beautiful, majestic... But why is the city's envoy taking so long." Frame looked up from the map and looked at Moscow taking in its Beauty and majestic like appearance, but after he was snapped into reality he looked behind him at the cheering men and then Malcom who returned with a group.

"Frame, the city has been abandoned,Everyone has left." Frame looked at Malcom and for the first time in forever he was happy, glad, and excited though the Russian's abandoned Moscow? It would be a mystery they would Solve all that mattered was that Victory was his and his name would go down in History for ever.
