Episode 25: The Night before Battle

Nathan was silent as he sat in his chair in his office, thing's were quiet lately after his talk with Zachary cook the man who knew about the Mysterious General Frame.

He got up from his chair and started to get ready for the day ahead, but it was until Jonas and several other's entered the room.

"Morning, Gentlemen." Nathan said as each tipped their hat's before they crowded around the large table with a map of Egypt on it.

"Sir, we have troop's coming in from the coast itself, by tomorrow they will arrive with Ibrahim's Force's, but that depend's on if they arrive anyway." Jonas spoke as Nathan finished putting his equipment on along with his red coat, black glove's, and his hat.

"Our best bet if we want our position to be secure we must continue to keep the men in spirit, keep the purifiers running, and we need more time for most of the Army to be ready, we are dealing with experinced men after all." One of the Officer's spoke as he looked around the map and the town they were staying in, not bad they all thought....it could be worse, way worse.

"I Beleive the question is when are we going to engage, Frame and his force's if not now then when?" Another Officer asked, but when he finished every man looked at Nathan who seemed to be studying the map until he brought his attention to look at them.

"Hm? Well he hasn't given me any idea i suppose it's, until..." Nathan paused as he looked at the map's again, but when everyone looked at him they knew he would not budge so they continued to talk about their plans'.

Frame sat on his Grey Horse looking around at the Desert landscape, he was marveled by the way thing's were here, so much history, so much artificat's and more.

"Across the Cannal, and tommorrow we will rest in Cairo." Frame stated as he watched the long line of men march past them, they seemed to never end as many were marching in line's, other's pulling or pushing Artillery and Car's over the Desert dune's, and many more simply enjoying the ride's.

"God willing, Frame." Brandon said as he sat on his horse as well, but turned his attention from the hurricane of Men before them so he could get a look at his friend.

"God? God has nothing to do with this." Frame said as he pulled the rein's on his horse back as they could join the army itself on it's March.

Yet when the Guard had appeared their Marching shook the land itself and made a loud sounded as if though the men were the greatest storm in the world. That however was becuase of their new Recruit's in their rank's, but over four thousand.....that seemed a bit more extreme than he would like, nothing to do now however.

"Keep them moving along the canal, no stop's and no break's." Frame ordered as he and Brandon crossed the newly constructed bridge, their men had made hour's earlier.

"Isn't this pushing them a bit too hard? I mean you just made them build this bridge with no break's, now we're on the march again." Brandon stated in worry as they continued to cross the bridge, the sound's of the horse's hove's hitting the wood sounded similar to if they were crossing a marble road, but far enough from it he supposed.

"I Know the risk's, I know what their going through, but if we don't push on we will be caught fighting two enemies at once, if that happens and they have solid ground to defend, we may never win." Frame stated as he clutched on to the rein's of his horse very tightly, Brandon had noticed he was now coughing, but when he did blood came out of his mouth....this man's condition was terrible, and was getting worse by the hour.

"Frame.....can we talk about, You're condition....Please my Friend." Brandon asked when they were alone on the bridge, their horse's pressing forward.

"N-No, I-I'm fine." Frame said as he held his hand up to his forehead, but he knew Brandon wasn't convinced he never was he could point out the obvious, just like Frame could.

"No, You're not Frame, I've held my tongue for as long as I can, You're my best Friend damn it!, You're the only person I can come to talk to, to say you are my brother, and to see you like this is killing me, because if I can't do anything than what chance do I have in helping you?!" Brandon yelled at his Friend, but his only response was when Frame had stopped his horse so suddenly that even the horse made a shriek as it stopped.

"I know you mean well, You have always been there for me Old Friend, you and I are like Brother's no matter what, but I don't want anyone to suffer because of Me or my condition, Not you, and Not them." Frame sighed as he finished speaking, though he motioned his head to the other's, Malcom, Presley, and Neon....what remained of the Group they created Year's ago....Only two year's, Damn those Year's following after.

"I, Know....I'm just worried is all, You can't keep going on like this, fighting everything that stand's between you and you're goal's, It's killing you physically, Mentally, and Health wise." Brandon said as he put his hand on his Friend's Shoulder, yet he knew his word's had left their mark on Frame, only by a moderate amount though.

"I don't do this for just Me, I do it for all of us.....I thought we we're fighting to liberate the World, but every chance I get to look at it, We're not free....we haven't been since the Empire was formed." Frame sighed as he patted Brandon's shoulder this time, but knew the other man was agreeing with him, he could tell....they were never free, to begin with anyway.

Nathan looked at the map's and then the Many Officer's and Commander's around him, nothing seemed to be getting to a standing ground or what they would agree on, how to fight Frame, what they would do if they did battle him, the talking was constant.

He finally had enough and rose from his chair and looked at them all, Rage filled his eye's as he slammed his fist on the table....so Hard enough, everyman in the room went silent.

"Gentlemen! We either Agree on what we should do to fight, Frame or we are all we as dead....so stop arguing like Children and think about something we can agree on!!" Every single man in the room remained Silent, as they all looked at each other...they did not wish to Anger, Nathan any further....a Kind man at heart, his Anger was scary enough when it showed, especially 'Frames' from what they heard.

"W-Well I believe we could, Move our troop's here, at the pyramid's, good Hill's, and good Plain's." One of the Officer's spoke up as he traced his finger along the road that lead to the Pyramid's, but it wasn't far they knew.

"What can you tell me about that spot?" Nathan asked as he leaned down on the table, while also using his Arm's to support him.

"It's kind of a rough spot sir, the Hill's give a lack of Artillery for the Attacker's meaning, it would take them more time to prepare, Their is one position that is defendable, it is protected by two old village's that were once thriving there, one on the left, and the right ....it Would make it impossible to attack without taking them." Another officer spoke next pointing to the different place's on the map they had on the Pyramid's, Fantastic, was the only thing that could pop up in Nathan's head.

Though his thought's were trailed off when a Lone Officer barged into the room, Dirt covered his pant's and sweat rolled down his forehead.

"General.....It's Frame....H-He." The Officer stopped to catch his breath as everyone sat there staring at him, most telling him to just spit it out already.

"He's moved all his Horse's, all his Tank's, Everything....He's come across Ibrahim's force's again, it's terrible for them." The Officer spoke everything to them, but after he spoke everyman was in panic after that.

"Thomas was among our troop's coming from England, he may have been able to save them...None the less we must be ready, every last man in this town, the Whole damn army will march to the Pyramid's now!" Nathan shouted at all of them, but in second's they all ran in different direction's, some being knocked down, and other's making it through the door to get the Army ready.

Nathan was silent as he was left alone in the room, but he stared out the window at the men getting ready.....though he laughed quietly to himself.

"Good show, Frame....By god you do War Honor Proud." He continued laughing to himself, before he turned around and went to join the Other's in their march to the Pyramid's.....even for his Enemy, Frame did War Honor proud he knew for sure.

The Sound's of Battle were finally settling down around the Desert Hill's and Plain's, Crater's, Smoke, Gun Shot's, Artillery round's, everything littered the ground's of the desert landscape.

"As I've said before, Glory is never a pretty sight." Frame spoke as he looked around at the battlefield, this battle like other's was now finishing up....Ibrahim and his force's were in retreat again, but this time....he made sure they would not be able to carry on.

"Never the less, fifty thousand Turk's, and such dead....That's very good news." Frame turned his head back to Neon who quickly Nodded, but both their attention's were brought on to Brandon and Malcom who had returned from Battle.

"We've destroyed, Ibrahim's forces....they are on the run, and we have also cut off the English's reinforcement's as well." Brandon said as he stopped his horse along with Malcom, but both seemed a bit concerned at the fact Ibrahim was still alive.

"Understood....Though, many of their Army is still alive.....Give me a moment to think." As Frame turned around and placed his hand on his chin he sighed as he walked away from them in in deep thought, however on the other side of the Field....Ibrahim was having his own problem.

"Sire, the Sector is broken, I have ordered a retreat" One of the Turkish officer's spoke as he stood next to Ibrahim who at the moment was none to happy to hear this news.

"Retreat!? I Am sixty-three and a proud Soldier, This seal is my worth....I am too old to break it." Ibrahim said as he grabbed a nearby cup from one of the four Soldier's crowding around him, one the Officer, one wounded, and the other's there to assist them.

"If Nathan run's to the Coast, none of us will make it to Ankara, the Logical road is west....I do not trust the British, none the less I have ordered the Retreat, you may still be able to co-operate with Nathan, but god help us if he does not stand." The Officer spoke as he looked at Ibrahim's very lost and frustrated Face, none the less he understood what the man meant....all he could hope for was that Nathan would at least make a stand, or run like a coward.

As Frame made his decision he sighed heavily as he walked back to the main group, but clasped his hand's behind his back as he did.

"Presley, Gerard!" As soon as he shouted their name's the two men stepped up, side by side as they waited for him to speak.

"You take, Sixty thousand men, and you pursue....do you understand? You pursue Ibrahim, you don't let them regroup, you don't let them consolidate, and above all you don't let them rejoin!" Frame shouted as the two men stood there in silence, they both knew that this was to be their task if they liked it or not.

"But there are Ten different Way's and Direction's, Ibrahim could go Frame." Presley spoke up as he seemed a bit concerned on one end, but was interrupted shortly after by Gerard.

"It does not matter, Marshal Presley we will find him on one Road!" Gerard said as he stomped his foot on the ground to make his point.

"Enough is, Enough!!" Frame shouted as he caught the attention of both men, but knew they were ready when given the order.

"Less Disagreement, Disagreement lead's to disaster." Frame said as he watched both of them look at each other, at least before he spoke again.

"Presley, Gerard....you Can go....Go, Go, Go." The Two Saluted before they walked off to gather their men and their horse's, but as for Frame he returned to the conversation with Brandon and Malcom before he had made his plan....so much to do....so little time.

They arrived hour's later, Night had already begun to set as the Grand Army had finally laid their eye's on the British Army for the first time.

The entire British Army was still positioning itself, even now they could tell....it took the Grand Army half that time to even make camp far away from them, but now Frame sat on his horse along side Brandon.

"That must be the whole Army..." Frame said as he watched, Horse's, Men, Tank's, Car's, and other thing's move around the soon to be battlefield in a furry.

"They are still positioning." Brandon said as he was ready to just be given the order to attack already.

"Never interrupt You're enemy when he's making a mistake, that's bad manner's eh?" Frame laughed as he looked back at the British Army, who were still trying to get into position.

Though for Nathan it was still a bit worse on his end as he finally laid his eye's on the infamous 'Grand Army' of the Empire for the first time, they were far away....but Tomorrow would be a great battle.

"It's a bad position, Nathan the pyramid's behind us....if they push us back, the whole Army would be cut to piece's." One of the Officer's spoke up as he sat on his horse next to Nathan, but Nathan would not have it as he continued to tell his men to position themselve's here...no where else.

"Obviously he's no student of Caesar or Napoleon....He's positioned badly, He's got the Pyramid's to his back, Maybe he will leave tonight."

Frame looked around as he finally entered one of the nearby House's in the Village their Army was staying at for the Night.

He sat down and sighed as he sat near the Window, but one thought went though his mind as he sat there.

'Why is he just sitting there, what reason does he have, Has he lost his caution? There must be something I can't understand.' Frame's thought's revolved around that very one as he stared out the window for a moment, almost as if though he was looking out at Nathan himself.

'If only Ibrahim could out run, Presley...Give me the help of only one Corp.' Nathan thought as he moved away from the window and moved over to the table, where the other Officer's awaited him.

"Ibrahim's force's it all depends on them." Nathan said as he looked at them all, but he knew they understood.....So did Frame.

All the British had to do, Tomorrow was hold out for as long as they could until Ibrahim could arrive, Everything depended on them....either Victory would be their's, or Victory would be Frame's.
