"No" He yelled. "Sati, I advise you not to go to the sacrifice. Understand my words. I think it is erroneous to go there."

"Oh Deva, I have decided to go. It will be a great insult if a daughter does not attend a very important function of her father. I am sorry to oppose your decision."

Saying so, Devi Sati left the Kailash bringing disappointment to Siva and his devotees.

"Oh, Mahadeva, Shall I accompany the mother to protect her?" Asked Nandi. Siva nodded in grief. Nandi immediately left with some of the Siva's disciples to accompany Sati.

The disciples of Lord Siva arranged for Sati to be seated on the back of a bull and made their way as a royal parade.

"Stop, Devi." said the gatekeeper of the palace of Daksha when Sati reached the gates.

"You are not allowed to enter the palace. It is the order of Prajapati Daksha".

"O servant, listen. I am Dakshayani, daughter of Daksha. You dare to stop the wife of Siva?"

The gatekeeper bowed in fear. He let Sati and her disciples in. Sati entered the great hall.

Everyone was chanting Vedic hymns. Great Brahmans, Devas, and sages were assembled and took part in the sacrifice. As everyone saw Sati, they ignored her. They dared not to receive her due to the fear of Daksha.

Her 22 sisters and Prasuti seeing Sati hugged and received her. Daksha did not even turn to see Sati. He was busy chanting and offering in the sacrifice.

Sati observed that there was no oblation for her husband Siva. She and her husband were not invited.

"Father, your daughter Sati has arrived. Won't you welcome her?"

Daksha turned and said with a pale face, "Who are you? You are not at all invited to the sacrifice, lady. I don't have any daughter named Sati. She was already dead when she married an impure person named Siva."

"Stop this, O Father. Don't insult my husband."

"Truth is always bitter, lady. Your husband is a filthy person who smears the ashes of corpses. Which pure person does that? Your husband is a friend of ghosts and evil spirits. He ornaments his body with a garland of skulls and bones."

Sati's face started turning red.

"Do you one thing, lady? Only the name Siva is auspicious. But the person Siva is the most inauspicious creature. And you, the wife of him doesn't deserve to take part in this sacrifice."

Daksha started giggling after saying so. Sati became infuriated. Her reddish eyes started disturbing the balance of the world.

"STOP!!!!"

Sati immediately took 10 forms which are known as Mahavidyas: Kali, Tara, Bakalamukhi, Tripurasundari, Chinnamasta, Matangi, Kamala, Dhumavati, Bhairavi, and Bhuvaneshwari. (These forms are taken again in future for the welfare of the world)

Sages, Devas, Prasuti, and her daughters and Daksha trembled to see the fierce forms of Sati.

"O Daksha, How dare you to insult my husband in front of me? I warned you many times not to so. Siva is the Lord of the Universe. He has no attachment to the worldly pleasure. He is the Adi Yogi and he is present in each and every part of the Universe. You deserve to be punished."

Nandi immediately went near Sati. "O Mother, calm down. It is not right for a daughter to kill her own father. Calm down, mother. "

"O Daksha, I cannot live with this body hereafter which is produced by you. I got this body from you who insulted Mahadeva. This is a grave insult for me. It will be a bigger insult to live with this body. But, I will never forgive you. You will be soon punished by my Lord. This sacrifice will never be fulfilled. This is my curse."

"O Lord Siva, accept my last obeisance. I have not listened to your advice. Therefore, I am not fit to be in this body. O Siva, O Narayana, I wish to take rebirth again to a respectful father and marry Siva again."

Saying so, Sati immediately jumped into the sacrifice fire and burnt herself. The members of the court were terror-stricken thinking about the consequences of Sati's disappearance.

Siva who was in deep meditation opened his eyes which were reddish. The Lord realized about the disappearance of Sati.

"Sati!!!!!!!!!!" He shouted in deep grief.

Siva performed Rudra Tandava or the dance of destruction. The whole world trembled and the balance was lost.

He pulled two locks of his hair and threw it in the ground. From them, two forms appeared. One was the fierce Veerabhadra who was tall, muscular, dark, and with fierce hair. The other one was BadraKali who was also dark and ferocious.

"Both of you go and destroy the sacrifice of Daksha. Also, destroy the life of Daksha. Nothing should be left in the court. Whoever tries to protect him, should also be murdered." Siva ordered.

Veerabadra and Badrakali associated with army troops headed towards the palace fo Daksha. The followers of Lord Siva surrounded the arena of sacrifice.

They broke all the pots made for use in the sacrifice, some of them began to extinguish the sacrificial fire and some passed urine on the arena. They terrorized the Devas, sages and women present there.
Maniman, one of the disciples of Lord Siva, arrested Sage Brighu, and Veerabhadra arrested Prajapati Daksha. Veerabhadra tore off the mustache of Bhrighu, who was offering the sacrificial oblations with his hands in the fire. He broke the teeth of Daksha who smiled when he insulted Siva.
Veerabhadra immediately tried to behead Daksha. But he was not able to!!
