Chapter 63: Mandy
JACOB
I couldn't resist it.
It's Saturday morning in Texas. Last night, I arrived here with the twins after Seth invited me to come along for the Thanksgiving break. Even though I am spending the holiday in Boulder, I can still take some time to spend with the Strongholds.
The plan was for me to spend some time with Skylar so I could disprove my mother's ridiculous theory that I harbor any feelings for him - the reason she refused to approve Jayden as my prospect. Despite his resistance when I told him about it, it was a nice plan. We got into a heated argument over me not going to Georgia with him.
Well, you know what they say about plans... O.o
Last night, Skylar came into my guest suite of his family manor and recited the poem he wrote for me. Instantly, I was spellbound by him and his narrative of love for me.
I didn't know what else to say, so I told him to kiss me. Oh. My. Goddess. What a kiss it was! *swoon*
It was as if I had never been kissed before. His lips tasted like paradise and his tongue danced in my mouth, giving me all the feels. Literally.
I felt an electric jolt of sentiments that I could not completely identify, except for one. I was very attracted to him - no surprise there - but in the sense of sexual attraction. Horny for the Alpha boy.
Not like I was in heat because I was fully conscious of my actions and did not engage in any sexual activity with him. I just really wanted to. But that will never come to pass with anyone who is not contracted to me, legally speaking. I will not become my mother, no matter how much I love her, I don't want to raise a pup by myself.
Of course, one could easily believe in Skylar's love for me and take our connection for granted, believing that the contract would be a mere formality. I do not. I can't afford to take anything for granted, much less the love of a wealthy man.
History is filled with stories of women who were 'ruined' because they believed in the promises of men. I am a man too, so I have no excuse. On top of it, I wouldn't want to look Jayden in the eye and tell him that he is no longer an option for me. That would break both of our hearts.
Anyway, aside from the blinding lust that I felt for him, I felt a connection to him unlike I never felt with any other boy I have ever kissed before. It was truly electrifying. Not only that, it seemed to have activated something inside of me. I mean, I don't know if activating is the proper word for it, all I know is that I looked at him from a whole new perspective.
After an intense makeout session, Skylar raised me from the ground and carried me to my bed where our bodies would be entangled in each other, feeling an immense pleasure from the kissing and the touching - over the clothes, naturally.
Skylar tried to get cute with me afterward, but I don't get cute. I get drop-dead gorgeous.
Once he was begging me to let him stay in my room and sleep with me, I couldn't resist his request and said yes. I've never seen a boy get down to his underwear so fast in my life. In a second, he was lying under the covers with me and like we did back in Boulder, I rested my head on his bare chest and slept the best night of my life.
Everything was great until Seth barged into my room earlier this morning - I forgot to lock the door last night after all the mesmerizing activities - and stared at us as if he had just caught us having intercourse. We didn't, but he was blushing as if I was one of Skylar's conquests.
Of course, I immediately told him that nothing happened and we just slept together but he rushed out of my suite before I had time to explain the situation. I am sure he will believe me when I explain later what actually transpired between his brother and I. Fingers crossed.
Skylar left my room after getting dressed and I hopped into the shower for a cleanse of his scent on me. We are werewolves and I don't need the Alpha couple judging me too. Not to say that Seth did.
Now it's a little past nine in the morning and the four of us are having breakfast in the dining room. Seth is looking at me with a peculiar expression on his face and it's getting annoying. Skylar is talking to his father about something that happened in the company. Dahlia was quietly observing us.
"You two are quiet this morning. Did you sleep well, Jake?" Dahlia asked me, noticing the glances exchanged between her son and me.
"Better than I have in weeks, Luna." I replied, honestly. Seth chuckled at my response and I lost it.
"Would you stop? We just slept together!" I reprimanded him, irritated. At this, both the Alpha couple stared at me in surprise.
"WE?" Frederick questioned my use of pronouns, puzzled.
I got flustered at being called out like this, but I couldn't refrain from commenting on this to Seth. He was getting on my last nerve.
"I slept in Jake's room last night, with emphasis on sleeping. Nothing else happened between the two of us." Skylar declared, blushing before the collective stares he was receiving at the large table.
Dahlia and Frederick exchanged a curious glance between them.
"I see. Is your prospect alright with you sleeping with other boys?" Frederick asked me, malice dripping from his voice which was irritating me.
"Well, he is not my prospect because he was not approved by my mother as of yet." I replied, clearly irritated at the question.
"I am sure everything will sort itself soon and you'll end up with the Alpha that you were supposed to be with." Dahlia told me with a soothing tone and a nice smile. She is such a gentle soul, even if she fakes sometimes - nobody is always smiling - yet she fulfills the role of Luna brilliantly.
"Thank you for saying that, Luna. You are a remarkable woman and I see now why Seth is the way he is. I am truly in awe of you." I bowed my head to the fantastic woman. She blushed at the heartfelt compliment.
"You are too kind, Jake. Your mother sounds like an incredible woman as well. She did a wonderful job raising you." She complimented back, smiling at me.
"She really is. Especially having to raise a child on her own, though her parents helped a lot." I melted, thinking of my mother.
"Why did you say 'You see now why Seth is the way he is'. What about me?" Skylar pouted.
"You are your father's son." I declared, staring at Frederick as I said that. I am sure that was enough of a statement on its own. I don't want to have to elaborate on that.
"If only he was like me... maybe then he would leave Ravenwood with the best prospect candidate of his class." He shot back in a snarky tone. Not that his sons appreciated that.
"Jake IS the best prospective candidate in our class. You're just too blinded by greed to see straight, but he has all the best qualities mom has. In her own words, he could make a better Luna than her." Skylar defended me, aggravated by his father's speech.
Frederick roared at his son for that remark.
"We'll see soon who is too blinded by greed, son." He threatened him, fuming.
"Sweetheart, it's not fair for you to say your father is blinded by greed when the only thing blinding him is the love he feels for his sons." Dahlia defended her husband, looking at Skylar reprehensibly.
"All your father wants is for his sons to make the best match possible for both of you. We, Strongholds, match for life." She argued, humble but assertive.
"I know, mom. But Jake is the best match possible for me. There is nobody better for me, I know this now more than ever before." He stated, sounding convinced of this fact.
Frederick grunts in annoyance and finishes eating his breakfast. I didn't mean to be caught in this war, but I am only here as a guest. Or so that is what I tell myself.
A few minutes later...
"If your prospect wasn't approved by your mother, why don't you give my son a chance? It's clear to see you have an undeniable chemistry." Frederick asked me before he got up from the table.
"That is why I came here, sir. To see if the two of us have any future together. But judging by your personal views, you don't sound like a man who is convinced I am the best option for your son." I took the chance to jab at him in a snarky tone.
Frederick stared me down for a few seconds, waiting to see if I was going to buckle under his Alpha glare. Yeah... I am not that kind of Omega and he is NOT my Alpha. *eye roll*
"Jacob, let me tell you a story. Once upon a time, my wife and I returned early from an event in Baltimore only to find teenagers spread around my house, the pool area infested by leftovers from the party that happened the night before, and three girls in my son's bed. I never asked Sky, but I don't think they were there because there weren't any rooms available in this house. My point is: If my son slept in your room only for the pleasure of your company, as you said, that can only mean you are the one for him. Regardless of my personal feelings on the matter." He lectured me in a matter-of-fact tone and I gasped in shock.
"Three?" I stared at Skylar incredulously. The blonde boy turned pink, he was so embarrassed by that colorful story.
"It was Summer." He explained himself as if that was supposed to explain anything at all.
I am gobsmacked. What the hell?
"Wait, there's a pool here?" I was reeling from that discovery.
"Didn't you get the tour of the house when you were here last time?" Dahlia questioned me, perplexed that I didn't know that.
"No, ma'am. Nobody took me on a tour of the house." I replied and she glared at Seth for that oversight.
As soon as we stood up from the table, Seth and Skylar accompanied me on a tour of the three-story mansion. Aside from the living, dining room, kitchen, washroom, bathroom, and five suites, there is a whole other part of the estate on the back that I had yet to see.
Besides two different pools - one small for kids and one for adults - areas for grilling, locker rooms, and a host of stretchers for sunbathing. It's like your own personal club. Seth told me that during the Summer, his parents hire a mixologist to prepare drinks for them on the weekends for them and their guests.
Wow. I could use a drink after that intense breakfast, but it's only ten in the morning.
Unlike the last time I came to Texas, Frederick did not try to push a visit to his office building - the last place on Earth I would ever enter, where Shawn works - so we had the whole day to ourselves.
This time around, we did what I was supposed to do but never got a chance. Seth drove me to all the places he liked here in his pack. Skylar, who tagged along, also made sure to show me his favorite ice cream parlor, the coffee shop where he would stop by after school, and the diner where he used to take his friends.
It's a small town life and the most 'diverse' offering they have is a honky tonk bar.
After we drove and walked all day, we went to the mall downtown for a snack. It was a massive shopping center of 6 floors (including garages). It is not like the one in Boulder - ours is cooler than that - but it was your run-of-the-mill mall with everything that it entails.
Later that day, we were leaving the food court when we heard a shriek from a girl who seemed ecstatic to see...
"SKY!"
She ran towards him, jumped onto his lap and laid a kiss on him that would grab the attention of all the other customers around us. Seth and I were looking at each other as I gasped in shock at the scene.
After the long kiss, she finally climbed down from his arms to greet Seth as well. She had long brunette hair, short stature, fair skin, and colorful clothes. She could not be older than us, so our age. I am guessing she went to high school with the twins.
Oh, and she is a trans girl, which is not so uncommon to see in Omegas. But there is so much yet to know about what hormone replacement therapy does to us in particular. Not that I am going to bring this up now. I mean, ever.
"Seth, you're looking good. How has Ravenwood been treating you?" She greeted him with a radiant smile, taking Skylar's hand to hers. The Alpha could not look more guilty as I was staring at him after that whole display.
"Mandy, this is Jacob Anderson, Seth's roommate from Ravenwood. Jake, this is Amanda Robinson. She is my–"
"His girlfriend." She cut him off, ecstatically.
She is what now? *prepares for a fight*
