Chapter 21: Call Out My Name

It's October.

Skylar has been disciplined by Mr. Kirchner - Ravenwood's Head of Security - and put on clean up detail. The rich boy pouted and protested but it was either that or putting him on a jet back to Texas. Yes, really. They are not here to play and if rich people would get a pass, then Ravenwood would become a free for all.

I am not going to lie, I couldn't help myself from getting a peek at seeing a Stronghold cleaning up the dining room. He was handy with a broom and students took pictures of him because that needed to be seen to be believed.

Seth, being his brother, took pity on him and tried to encourage Skylar to leave Jayden alone. If there is a boy untouchable in this Academy, it is him. He literally has nothing to gain from commenting on our union and for the first time in his life, Seth is drowning in proposals and invitations for dates. He is not lacking prospects nor does he need Jayden to claim him.

I mean, come on... leave me alone! I love Jayden and he loves me. Can we make it any more obvious than this? Love is love, dude, regardless of race, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Hopefully, this lesson will humble Skylar, but I am not holding my breath.

In other news, the academy is fulfilling its purpose with stimulating classes that challenge and excite us with great life examples and interesting content.

They really put in an effort to make the classes as fun for us as possible - not to say that they always succeed in it. This is still a school.

If I watch another seminar on how to have safe sex as an Omega, I'll vomit. And not because I am pregnant. Unless I can get pregnant from oral, in which case I am fucked - and not in the way I would've wanted to.

"Good morning, Jake. I can't believe you're going to Texas! That is so sweet of your roommate to invite you. How come Seth is so well adjusted and his brother is an asshole?" Jayden greeted me on Friday morning as we walked together towards the cafeteria. Today he is going back to Georgia, with his grandfather, right after breakfast. It's the Alpha's 60th birthday.

"Good morning, Jay. I don't know. Maybe he was dropped as a baby? Who knows?" I snickered, while Skylar was glaring at us a few steps away. Seth was amused by this.

"Don't go falling for some handsome Texan, please. Come back to me!" He kissed my lips and I swooned.

"I couldn't if I tried, there's nobody more handsome than you." I flirted and he chuckled.

"You do know I am right here, right?" Skylar questioned me, teasingly.

"Unfortunately you weren't expelled yet, but here's hoping for a miracle before the end of the year." I shot back with a smug grin.

"I am glad that I have your support. I can't wait to spend three hours on a plane with you." He spoke sarcastically.

"Trust me, the feeling is mutual. The only reason I am even coming along on this trip is because of your brother. But you don't have to worry about me, I don't plan on speaking to you over the weekend." I snapped at him with a razor sharp glare.

"Let me know if he gives you grief. I can kill him in his sleep when he comes back." Jayden told me with a provocative smile.

"I am sure we won't need to resort to murder. If you kill a Stronghold, his father will send an RPG to Georgia." I spoke in a grim tone.

Frederick Stronghold is not a man to be crossed, especially if you touch his son and heir. That is the highest possible attack, going for someone's child. Just ask any mother.

"I was joking." Jayden rolled his eyes at me. I knew he was, just saying...

After breakfast, Jayden was gone in his grandfather's car towards the airport. It's a long drive, so that's why they left early.

Seth, Skylar, and I would only leave after lunch when we could skip the afternoon classes.

Hours later...

A driver picked us up at Ravenwood and drove us to the airport where the Stronghold jet was waiting for us to fly out to Texas.

I have never been on an airplane before, let alone flown on a private jet. How rich do you have to be to own a freaking airplane?

Beats me.

By the time the in flight meal was served, I was fully on board with it. The flight attendant was so nice, asking me what kind of beverage I would like with my filet mignon. Mimosa? Why not? I never felt so bougie. *snicker*

Seth and I talked about his string of dates lately and how he was feeling about it so far. Ironically, Sean from England was still on his mind despite the two of them going cold after the dance. He told me there have been great guys, but it seems like they are more interested in his last name than getting to know him as a person.

That happens when you have one of the most recognizable last names of werewolf society. I felt bad for him, he deserves to find a prospect that truly values him for the wonderful boy that he is. I am sure he is out there somewhere.

Skylar spent the whole flight on his phone. But judging by the flight attendant's lustful gaze at him, I am sure he could join the mile-high club if he wanted. Assuming he hasn't already. Who knows?

At the airport, his family's chauffeur personally picked us up. He greeted me politely as I was introduced to him and we embarked on another journey to the Stronghold pack. The only pack in America named after its Alpha and one of the few towns exclusively populated by werewolves.

As a species, we learn to blend in pretty easily since we were children and after our consecration to the Moon - the first time you shift into a wolf at the age of 12 or 13 - then we learn how to select who we can count on to share about wolf stuff and who we can not. Once we shift into a wolf, our sense of smell heightens and we learn how to differentiate humans from werewolves like us.

It is a slow process that we learn organically our entire lives. Who we can and cannot trust with our secret. By law, only werewolves can know about us. The only exception was mates, but we all know that is not in the cards anymore. So, mum's the word.

Back in high school, I was friends with lots of humans, so I had no problem fitting in and disguising my true nature. We are not compelled to shift by the full moon anymore, it only happens when we want to. The shifting into a wolf, I mean.

The city is nice and the landscape is beautiful. It is a small town in Texas, there are lots of green pastures, farms, and of course, the oil company. Seth enthusiastically took the time to tell me about his city and the history behind it.

"Welcome to Texas. I trust you had a pleasant trip?" Luna Dahlia greeted me after she kissed her boys - though Skylar was reluctant to be kissed by his mother.

"I did. You have a very nice plane, ma'am." I said, smiling at the welcoming Luna.

"I am glad to hear it. Please, come on in." She motioned me to enter the massive three-story house, while the chauffeur took our bags inside, the four of us walked into the most lavish residence I have ever seen in my life.

First, we dispensed our shoes at the door. Then we walked through a foyer that had a giant aquarium filled with exotic fish. After that, we entered the living room - the biggest I have ever seen - where the Alpha welcomed us.

"Good evening, sons. I hear we have company today." Frederick greeted his boys, and each of them shook his hand respectfully. I bowed my head at the Alpha.

"Good evening, sir. Thank you for allowing me into your home." I greeted the powerful Alpha, who offered me a nice smile.

"Any friend of my Seth is welcome here. Please, make yourself at home. I had a special dinner prepared for you boys tonight." He spoke to us in a good mood. Skylar looked bored to be here, but Seth was ecstatic at seeing his parents again.

"I expect to hear all about how the first mixer was. Did you connect with anybody interesting?" Dahlia asked Seth, curiously. The five of us sat on the couch while a maid brought in refreshments for everyone. This is so nice...

"Well, sort of. We had to dance with all the Alphas and Betas of the academy, so it was an interesting night." He replied, blushing at the thought.

"Your son is the most sought-after Omega of the whole academy. You should be proud of him." Skylar chimed in, though his tone did not indicate pride for his brother. He was smug and condescending. Frederick caught that and gave him a poignant look.

"Wow. That means the students stopped fearing your brother and his retaliation?" Dahlia asked Seth, knowing how her one son is overprotective of the other.

"I am done interfering in Seth's romantic life. Though I still think he should be with my roommate." Skylar spoke, not caring about how that would affect me. He never does. But Seth glared at him reprehensibly.

"Your roommate is in a happy relationship. It's past time you accepted that." Seth stated, glaring at his brother.

"With whom?" Their mother asked him, curiously.

"With me, Luna. Unfortunately, Skylar doesn't like that Jayden is interested in me, a scholarship student. He must have something against poor people." I blurted, making everybody around me uncomfortable. I had enough of his shit, to be honest.

Both of his parents looked at Skylar reprehensibly. I am not estranged from the occasional 'mom glare', but damn... his parents are beyond embarrassed for their son right now.

"That is unfortunate to hear. I thought I had raised my son better than that if he thinks he is above people because he has money. On behalf of my family, I apologize to you, Jacob. I hope you and Jayden are very happy together and it all goes well in the claiming ceremony next year." Dahlia spoke to me with a soft voice that was so nurturing.

Skylar was deeply embarrassed by being called out like this in front of his parents.

"Thank you, ma'am. I really appreciate your words and I apologize for the outburst, but it has been bubbling up for quite some time now." I was mortified to complain to them about Skylar, but there was only so much I could take until I fought back. I am over it!

"I appreciate your honesty, Jacob. I am sorry that my son made you feel unworthy of being with the boy you like. I promise you he should know better than that." She declared, ever so humble for a person of her stature. She could have easily defended her son and scorned me, thrown me out of her house or something. But she didn't.

"Not to pile up, but it got so bad that Mr. Kirchner put Skylar in detention. He almost fought Jayden in the cafeteria." Seth told his mother and the young Alpha gasped at being snitched like this.

"Oh, my Goddess!" She gasped in shock, staring at her son in horror.

"How long has this been going on?" Frederick asked Seth, preoccupied.

"Since Jayden started dating Jake. All he does is tell Jayden the two of them are never going to work and that Jake is a charity case." Seth revealed while his brother was gobsmacked at being told on by him.

"What the hell, Skylar?" Frederick shouted at his son, perplexed by the truth.

"Come with us! NOW!" He raised his voice, motioning him to accompany his parents to another room in the mansion.

"Thanks a lot, traitor!" Skylar snapped at Seth, mortified by this. The three of them walked out of the living room and went somewhere else that they could not be heard.

After they were gone, I apologized to Seth for calling his brother out like that. But he told me he was glad I did. Nobody ever calls his brother on his crap and he should be getting a reprimand from their parents.

It's past time someone teaches the arrogant boy a lesson, if you ask me.

Some time later...

Dinner tonight was rather uncomfortable. Though I was happy that Skylar was put in his place for his behavior, I have a feeling that I shot myself in the foot and he is going to retaliate at me for doing this. It is a very big house, so there are plenty of rooms for him to kill me.

Oh, Goddess! What have I done?

To break the awkward silence, Dahlia kept asking her sons about their prospects. Skylar was monosyllabic while Seth was forthcoming. The young Alpha looked properly pissed after the tell-off from his parents. I have a feeling that his father is a harsh parent.

Regardless of that, Luna Dahlia was nice enough to ask me about how it all began between Jayden and me. Frederick was much less talkative, especially now that he was irritated with his heir. I am sure that he has great expectations of his son, but right now he is failing at that.

The third course of dinner was so delicious, I don't know how I managed to eat so much. By dessert, I was practically rolling away from the dining room. Afterward, Seth and I walked together to the living room.

"I have prepared a guest room for you, Jacob. Horace [the chauffeur] has already placed your luggage in there. I trust that you'll have a pleasant night here in our home. I am glad my son has made a friend of his roommate. I am still in touch with my roommate from Ravenwood even after all these years." She spoke to me, a sweet smile on her face.

"Call me Jake, Luna. Thank you for the hospitality. You have the most beautiful home I have ever had the pleasure of staying in." I thanked her, humbly.

The Alpha couple retired soon after that, and then Seth walked with me to the second floor where our rooms are. First, he showed me his bedroom, a master suite that was adjacent to his brother's room.

It was so spacious, so beautifully decorated. This floor alone is bigger than my entire house. Much bigger. Seth and I talked for an hour before he took a shower. It was then that I took the time to go to my guest bedroom. Meanwhile, I was on the lookout for Skylar to catch me outside. He is going to kill me for speaking out. I can tell that he is furious.

I entered my suite carefully, taking in the scents that were surrounding me. I fully expected him to be there waiting for me, but he wasn't. I closed the door and opened my suitcase to pick out some clothes to wear after I took a shower.

Everything here looked expensive, even the guest bathroom was luxurious. I soaked in the hot water that filled the bathtub and forgot about my troubles. It was so nice, I stayed until the water was cold.

When I was leaving the bathroom wrapped in a towel, Skylar was waiting for me in my bed with a wicked smile.

"Hello, Jake." He greeted me and I gasped in shock. I looked at the door and it was locked. The room is soundproof. What the hell is he going to do to me? *sweats in terror*
