Chapter 2-Roof Run In

The last few periods went by fairly fast. All the high school had lunch together and I was positive I'd be able to see the Redhead from pretty much everywhere.

Once my buds and I entered I immediately whipped my head in every direction looking for her. Nothing...strange. Maybe she was late or went out to eat with her friends or something. Here you were allowed to take lunch as a free period it was only 35 minutes long but there were a lot of local places to eat. Well if she wasn't here I might as well go to the rooftop.

The rooftop was gorgeous. It had an amazing view and had a bunch flowers. I had a special place that I go to to relax. It was in the back corner and I even set up a hammock there. I went up when I could. I scaled the stairs and breathed in the floral scent. I walked toward the back corner with my lunch in hand. My shoes clacking on the roof. I turned the corner, and I did indeed see my hammock but someone was in it. Reading a book.

"Well well well. Redhead, this is where you were." Connor chuckled and leaned against the corner crossing his arms across his chest and smirking.

She groaned but didn't look up from her book. "My name is Redhead." She mumbled.

"Then what is it? If you know my name then I should know yours."

"Now why in the world would the all amazing, rich, and famous Connor Schreave would want to know my name? I'm just a poor lowly girl." She said sarcastically. She was looking at me now. My smile slipped from my face at her words. Only a second passed before my grin returned to my face.

Her words hit me hard. Rich? Famous? Two words I despised when describing me as a person. I brushed it off like it was nothing covering it up with a grin.
"Well if you're not going to tell me will you at least let me have my hammock?"

"Oh you hung this? It's quite wonderful and extremely comfy. You know sharing is caring so I'm just gonna stay." She said smirking to herself.

"You know what? Sharing is caring." I smirked right back at her and moved closer. I could see the look of confusion on her face. I suppressed my laughter and laid down right next to her. She scrambled back as far as she could. "Thanks for making room, Red." I grinned.

I could tell she was blushing and trying to say something rude but it never came out. "Uh I uh...I think I'm going to go now." She said rapidly and got off of the hammock rushing off the roof and down back to the lunchroom most likely. She accidentally touched me when she left making me a little flushed for some reason. I noticed that she left her book. I picked it up and looked at the cover. It wasn't a book...it was a diary.

I had to return it to her sometime. I put it in my backpack and took out my lunch. There was no way that I was going to read it. I just continued to eat my lunch that my maid, Alice, packed me.

I pondered back to her words. Sure I was rich, but I had just happened to be born that way. It wasn't my choice to be like this. I was a future president of a huge business. That scared me...what if it wasn't what I wanted? Not who I wanted to be? These questions have always lingered in my mind but I knew I wouldn't be able to change my destiny. If I didn't take over, the whole business would collapse. I would be failing the employees, the people who invested their money into it, and most of all, my father. There was no way I was going to do that so I pushed away my questions and put my mind to the task of learning how to be one. I talked to all different kinds of people, learning how to continue to be successful, how to excel, learn what were good pitches and what was going to be the best for the company overall. There were a lot of risks out there in the real world, ones that I would have to face. And I would do it head on just like my father did.

I finished my lunch with new confidence. I had just decided who I was going to be, and I was going to be proud of it and no one was going to convince me otherwise.
