Chapter 3 Dates and Hangouts

"So now that you have seen the building what do you want to do?" Alison questioned Liam.

"How about we get to know each other?"

"But we already know each other." Alison stated, her eyes crinkling in confusion.

"So you are telling me that you are exactly the same since we last talked a few years ago?"

"Well no but-"

"Exactly, so we have to get to know each other again." Liam spoke triumphantly; he proved himself right.

Alison laughed at his triumphant voice, her eyes crinkling happily, making her whole face glow of delight. " Okay how should we get to know each other then?"

" How about twenty questions?" Liam queried.

"Sure." Alison responded as she sits down in her office chair, kicking her shoes off and snuggling her sock covered feet under her.

Copying Alison's movements Liam grabbed one of the spare chairs in the office and relaxed into the chair. Ripples of muscle caught Alison's eye, resulting in her looking at Liam's arms. Catching her looking, Liam winks teasingly at her making Alison blush furiously.

"So first question, What's your favourite colour?" Liam inquired grinning.

"Really? Why does everyone feel the need to start with that question?" Allison replied laughing, "Come on Liam try to be original."

"Fine,  Miss BossyPants," laughd Liam, "What's your second favourite colour?"

At this Alison huffed in frustration making Liam start to bellow in whole hearted laughter.

"Okay fine," Liam said, " What is your third favourite colour?" This time he can hardly even finish the question before he breaks out in to small chuckle until it turns into full blown laughter once again.

Alison completely and utterly frustrated with Liam untucks her snug feet from under her and stalks across the room towards him rubbing her small petite hands together.

" Alison," Liam said while fidgeting with his hands nervously trying to hold in his chuckles,"What are you doing?"

"Nothing." Alison spoke sweetly and calmly, causing Liam to start to shuffle his chair back towards the wall. Continuing to stalk towards Liam Alison began to laugh maliciously like an evil villain.

"I'm sorry." Liam whispered, just loud enough for Alison to hear, scared of how cynical she looked.

"Too late Liam, too late." Alison screamed as she jumped on Liam and started tickling him like crazy. Liam feel hard on the carpeted floor at the sudden weight of Alison.

"Please stop." Liam pleaded earnestly to Alison while laughing hysterically.

"Never!" Alison shouted, giggling in between.

Still laughing, but now with tears trailing down his masculine stubble covered face, Liam tried to fight back. He grabbed both Alison's arms and then pushed her gently on the floor so that he was top of her. Caging her within him like a animal locked in a cage, he used his body to shield her from getting any advantage that would mean she could tickle him again and started ticking her. Shaking violently from the ripples of laughter taking control of her body, Alison started to tear up from laughter.

"Okay Liam, fine." Alison gasped, trying to gain her breath back from laughing, "I'm sorry for tickling you so can you please stop tickling me."

"Well if you sure." Liam teased

"Yes Liam, I'm sure." She giggled

At that comment, Liam stopped tickling her. He looked down at Alison and she looked back up at him and they both laughed, their melodic jubilant echoes of laughter filled the air and echoed in the room. Suddenly, Liam gazed down at Alison taking in everything about her from her strawberry long hair to her angelic hazel eyes and her long dark eyelashes. Alison finally realising the sudden silence that hit the room looked up at Liam and saw him gazing intensely at her. She looked to the side trying to avoid his gaze but she felt as if there was a weight pulling her eyes towards his. She looked up at him memorised by the intensity of his gaze.

"Liam?"

"Yes Alison?" He answered breathlessly still lost in her golden chocolate hazel eyes.

Alison breathed in deeply, "What are we doing Liam?"

Liam sighed, "I don't know Alison." He gazed at her longingly one last time before pushing himslef from upwards so he is no longer laying over Alison.

"Liam I-"

"I know, it's Seth right?" Alison looked down ashamed, even though he isn't here he still has some sort of hold over her. "It's fine really, I get it, you're not over him,"Liam sighed and held his hand out to help Alison get up from the floor.

Alison got up from the floor, taking Liam's offer of a helping hand."Liam..."  She looked up at him unsure if she should ask him this or not. "You still like me don't you?" She whispered hoping that his answer was no and that she was just reading too much into everything.

Sadly Liam smiled lightly at Alison, "How did you guess?" he muttered quietly trying to smile happily but only achieving a disappointed look.

Looking down nervously Alison wriggled her fingers together. She can't actually believe that after all this time he still likes her, she was just Alison. Stupid, naive, heartbroken Alison. " I don't know what to say Liam."

"Then don't, just think about it yeah." Liam took a step forwards in her direction and took her gentle soft tanned hands in his big warm ones. "Think about moving on from him yeah and when you're ready think about me. Think about giving me chance." He kissed her delicate hands with his pink luscious lips and dropped her hands by her side. "Until then friends?" Liam asked hopefully.

Alison smiled. She's happy that Liam isn't trying to force her to do anything and that he still wants to be her friend. He was annoying as hell in university but he was a good friend overall, one that she cherished deeply. "Of course Liam, I would love that."

At hearing those words Liam small smile broadened, glad he wasn't losing a friend over unrequited feelings.

"Okay Liam now it's my turn."

"Your turn for what?" Liam asked confused.

"To ask you a question of course. We'll still playing twenty questions right?"

"Right, okay go on then." Liam smiles.

"When we just met an hour ago how come you didn't recognise me but you still like me?" Alison questioned honestly bewildered on how he can like someone who he can hardly remember.

Liam scratches the back of his head nervously. " I did recognise you but I just didn't couldn't believe it was you, the girl I've been crushing on for the longest time. I had thought that I had  finally gonna over you completely but then I saw you again and everything came rushing back. All the feelings, the tingles, the conversations and arguments we had, everything . I couldn't help but like you again." Liam ends his speech and looks down at the floor as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.

"Damn Liam , you have a beautiful way with words." Alison blurted out, unsure of what else she is supposed to say.

Liam laughs at this. "I guess I have," Liam laughed, now looking up from the floor, sounding much more confident then before.

"Woah, don't let a compliment like that get to your head." Alison lectured giggling.

"Yes BossyPants." Liam said saluting  Alison like a solider saluting  his corporal.

"Is that my new nickname?" Alison inquiries amused.

"One of them, but A will always be my favourite nickname for you." He laughed, knowing how much she loathed that nickname.

"Liam no, you know just how much I hate that nickname." She whined huffing and puffing while crossing her hands over her chest annoyed.

"That's exactly why I call you that A." He chuckled jollily, the grin on his face stretching until his face could no longer stretch no more.

"Argh, Liam you are so annoying." Alison huffs.

"And her favourite catchphrase is back ladies and gentlemen." Liam announces loudly as if he was on a TV show, holding his hand below his mouth like a microphone.

"Shut up you big goof." She laughed loving how carefree and fun Liam is. Seth used to be like that until- STOP. Rubbing her head trying to get the imagine of Seth out her mind she tells Liam it's his turn to ask a question.

"Okay how come your still not over Seth yet?" Liam asked bluntly. Alison blinks harshly, shocked at the blunt question. Realising what he just asked Alison, Liam tries to retract his question, "I mean you don't have to answer that question. Well I mean if you don't want to talk about it then it's chill but if you want to then I'm all ears but-"

"Liam stop rambling, I'll answer the question, it's fine." Taking in a deep breath, Alison prepares herself to answer the question. "Well I guess that honestly I've never really wanted to. Yes I say I want to, in fact I believe that I want to move on but truly I can't because to me he is still my soulmate, my guiding light in the dark, my rock, even though I know he isn't. I still think so highly of him when I should really think the opposite after what he did but I can't, to me he's still it for me and honestly I don't think I'll ever truly get over him. Over time the loss and hurt might fade but the love will never go or diminish in amount."

Slowly, letting out a deep breath Alison smiles which then results in her laughing. She laughs not out of happiness but out of sadness out of how true what she said was. What if she never gets over him? What if-

"Alison come here." Liam said gently while tugging her hand towards him and snuggling her into his chest, holding her tightly but gentle as if she could break if he held her too harshly but if he didn't hold her tight enough she would be stolen from him.

"Liam I'm fine, really." Alison whispered hardly believing what she is said herself.

"Okay, well tell your face that then," at this Alison touched her face and felt wet patches on it, "You're crying." That makes sense Alison thought to herself, no wonder I thought I could taste salt in my mouth. At the realisation that she is crying Alison tries to stop herself.

"Don't A." Liam states. "Sometimes everyone needs to cry; even the strongest people feel pain you know." At that, Alison starts to cry and cry until she is left sobbing into Liam's chest. She cries not only for the pain from her losing Seth but also from anger at herself. She is angry at herself for still caring for Seth, for still loving him after everything and for still wanting no one but him. She is angry at herself that she can't move on from him and be happy because she knew that Seth probably was. He was probably out living his life with another girl on his arm, another girl kissing him and another girl calling him hers. She was so damn angry at herself for doing this to herself. The sobs continue to mindlessly wreck through her body seeming to never end but eventually they do, leaving her as cold and numb as ever.

"I hate Seth, I really do."

"No sweetie, you hate that you still love him." And sadly he was right.
