Chapter 5

Padme set the co-ordinates to Polis Massa, a lonely rock which served as a med bay for those who would want anonymity; also where Bail Organa advised her to go to tend to the injured Jedi. When they were in hyperspace, Padme treated the Jedi with First Aid. She washed away the blood covering Ahsoka and bandaged her wounds and burn marks, occasionally stopping to process that it was her husband that did this to her. She applied the proper antiseptic to prevent infection of her tissues. Padme laid Ahsoka's arm on a soft place to prevent it from moving. Obi Wan dressed his own arm with cotton to prevent further bleeding, after washing the blood and applying some antiseptic.

Padme sat on the pilot seat, contemplating on whatever just happened. He was... he was dangerous. He almost killed two of her friends and he behaved like a monster with no compassion. He said that love was a weakness, that annoyed her, but a part of her still loved him. And the way he spoke it her, it seemed like there was still good in him, and he was just lost.

Now, she had just made a proposal of divorce, and she was having two children. How did he know there were going to be two children? Maybe because he is a Force sensitive and he could sense the presences. The thought of carrying twins made her nervous, how was she going to handle things? She was to raise them and hide from him forever, or maybe she'd have to fight against him, considering she joins the organisation she and other senators have planned.

Kenobi sat down next to her. “How are you feeling?” he asked her.

“I don't know what to say. He scared me.” She replied, sighing, “I know his inner self is not whoever he was on Mustafar.”

“But he is a threat now, to us and to you.”

“I know, but I think he was manipulated.” She reasoned, “He'd never act this way.”

“Padme, listen.” He replied, putting his hand on her shoulder, “Whoever he was in the past, he is gone. I felt it on Mustafar. Now, he is Darth Vader.”

Padme nodded and looked at the blue and white streaks of hyperspace from the view. Turning to the Jedi Master, she asked, “What are we going to do now?”

“I do not know. I hope Master Yoda has a little more success than we did. Otherwise, Anakin's children are our only hope.” He answered.

“No, I do not approve.” She responded, “Vader has already become a Sith and what if the children are seduced by their father?”

“Then we have to ensure that they are never abducted by him.”

She sighed, and spoke, the fatigue in her voice being evident, “If it is alright Master Kenobi, I do not wish to speak of this now.”

“I apologise, Senator.” He said and after a pause, “Why don't you get some rest while I keep watch?”

“Thank you Master Jedi. I appreciate the offer.” She replied and went to take a rest.

Vader looked at the construction of the Death Star, from the command bridge of his star destroyer. The Empire harvested all the available kyber crystals for the laser beam. The kyber crystals from Ilum, the Jedi Temples in the galaxy, Jedha, Daminia and others were all being harvested. The droids worked on the space station; the ultimate weapon to ensure allegiance to the Empire, especially with the three Jedi still on the loose.

Amidala helped them escape, proving her revolt against the Empire. She was guilty of treason, but he didn't put a bounty on her, for the sake of his children.

‘For the sake of the children.’ That was what Padme said to him when she proposed about separating. He couldn't allow it. Kenobi would train them to become Jedi, an unacceptable case. How dare she take away the only good thing going on in his life!?

He wandered across the halls of the destroyer, trying to put his burdens in the Force. He has already latched on to the Force signature of the babies, but he could find her only after they are born. When he tries to find her, he could only sense the places where she has been or is in. He entered his room, trying to patiently wait for the delivery of his babies and meditated on his task.

Anakin walked in the streets of the Upper City of Coruscant. The crowd was overwhelming especially since it was the end of the day. Being a wary and uptight person, he sensed someone stalking him, but he wasn't sure who. He slipped into a corner, grabbed the stalker and put a blaster on its waist. At the touch of the weapon, a female voice exclaimed in panic, “Ani!”

She removed her hood and seeing the face of his girlfriend, he kissed her lovingly for a long minute. “Why can't we get rid of this secrecy?” she asked him.

“No, we can't.” He responded, checking if anyone was watching. “I... I just like to keep this a secret. Look, I love you, I really do, but I'm not sure if the public is ready for... us or if I can commit considering our...differences.”

Padme slowly nodded, “I understand. We're five years apart, but what matters is that we love each other.”

“Yes.” He replied, becoming nervous of his other alias, “Why did you have to sneak up on me?”

“Well, I just can't wait.” She answered, smiling while putting her arms around his neck. “And I have great news. We might as well consider getting married.”

“Why?”

“Because, Ani, I'm pregnant.”

She moaned from the pain. She hasn't gone into labour but her abdomen cramped and it was awful. Padme wished Anakin was with her, but unfortunately, the circumstances couldn't be that way.

The doctor entered the theatre and started the operation. The grey walls, instead of giving her calm and peace, added to her tension, because of the influx of hormones in her body, she couldn't feel calm anywhere. Obi Wan soothed her during the entire time, using the Force to calm her down. The twins were eager to come out into the universe.

A sudden contraction caused her to scream and wail when one of the baby, a boy came out of her body. She named him Luke as a motherly feeling overcame her. It seemed to be over for a moment, but then the other started to come out.

“A girl.” The doctor said, handing the child to Obi Wan. Leia. Padme stated as she smiled. The two children were small, innocent and she instantly loved them. She rested, for she was very tired, and fell into a deep sleep.

The babies were sent to the nursery, and Obi Wan looked nervously to Master Yoda, who nodded, knowing what would happen then. The children were very powerful, their signatures shone brightly in the Force and Vader would easily find them, especially when they're together.

“Separate them, we must.” Yoda spoke, sitting on a hover chair.

“I agree.” Kenobi replied, walking towards Padme's room, “They would be a danger to the Emperor and his Empire or to us, for that matter.”

“Yes, together, detectable they are.” Master Yoda continued. “But discuss this first with Amidala, we should.”

The door opened and Padme was in bed, drinking a cup of water. “Good morning Master Yoda, Master Kenobi.” She acknowledged, “Of course, I am not sure whether it is because it always seems like night.”

Obi Wan smiled at her, seeing that she was healthy. He took a seat next to her bed and Master Yoda hovered next to him on the chair.

“How is Ahsoka?” she asked as she put down her cup on an adjacent table.

“Good, but she has been confined to bed rest.” He replied, “She sends her greetings.”

“I thank her.” She spoke, but then she felt guilty that it was her own spouse who did the damage. She caught the look on the Jedi's faces as she had that thought. “I am sorry masters, I just...”

“Understand, we do, but your husband, he no longer is.” Yoda responded, then looked at Master Kenobi, gesturing him to tell the Senator about the danger that was about to come.

“Padme, you see, the children, they are very powerful.” He said.

She retaliated, rising from her bed, “I have already told you, Master Kenobi, I –”

“Respect your decision, we do, Senator, but detectable they are, because of their power, and find them the Empire will.”

“Then what do you suggest we do?” she inquired as she sat up.

“Separate them.” Kenobi answered. She was afraid that she would have to do that, for the past fortnight, since Mustafar.

“Are you sure, there isn't another option?”

“I'm afraid not, unless...”

“Unless, what?”

Obi Wan looked at Yoda, who was able to recognize his thoughts. “Mask their presence, we could, in a place tainted by the Dark Side, but a risk there is, that they could succumb to it.”

She sighed; there was no way that they could live peacefully. “The children's power is both a curse and a blessing upon them. Then we –”

The alarms sounded. The Jedi knew what was happening – the Sith were attacking the station.

“We must hurry.” Obi Wan stated, “We have to get the babies.”

Padme got out of bed, took her blaster pistol and ran to the nursery with medical clothes and all. Stroomtroopers have docked the post. She blasted through them and ran forwards, with the Jedi slashing through with their lightsabers. When they reached the nursery, they heard lightsaber noises in the other side of the door.

“Vader.” Obi Wan shuddered, the cold familiar signature giving him chilling memories. Padme had a similar reaction. Yoda prepared for the confrontation. They opened the door, seeing Ahsoka duel the Dark Lord. Immediately, the Jedi aided to her need.

The Nubian ex-senator rushed forward to carry Luke, calling Ahsoka to help her carry Leia. Padme stopped for a moment to look upon her old lover, but he was not like himself. Those yellow irises proved that. He was...gone, but she was able to sink it in during the past fortnight. Ahsoka Force pushed Vader backwards and they all ran out. Padme blasted the door controls before leaving.

They were headed towards the hangar, which was perhaps blocked. With Yoda in front and Ahsoka behind, they fought the stormtroopers. “There it is!” Padme shouted out, pointing at her ship when they were almost there. A saber throw destroyed the door controls, trapping Ahsoka and Leia in the other side. Obi Wan banged the door while Padme and Yoda demolished the troopers. “Obi Wan!” Yoda yelled out, “No time there is.”

Ahsoka faced Darth Vader, igniting her weapon. “Come on, I thought the Sith have always looked forward for a fight.” She taunted. Vader, with concern for his child, deactivated his lightsaber and shifted to Force powers. “I have no time for this.” He said and put the Togruta in stasis. He took the baby and caressed it, releasing Tano from his grasp.

The emotions he had for his child, distracted him from his main mission as he walked away to his shuttle in another hangar bay, and commanded his soldiers to terminate Ahsoka. The moment he said the words, hundreds of troopers fired at her. She had already planned a strategy and deflected the bolts up to create a hole in the vents. In a blur, she jumped inside it and crawled through to the hangar.

Meanwhile, Padme and the Masters destroyed the troopers in the hangar and headed to Padme's ship. Ahsoka, seeing an opening in the vents, jumped through it, but what she did not estimate, was who was under there as she fell on top of dozens of troopers in the hangar.

As they recovered Ahsoka quickly killed them, gaining the attention of more stormtroopers. She knew she was outnumbered and ran towards the Silver Streak.

The ship had already taken air and the ramp was out. Ahsoka knew she must catch up before it goes into space. At the edge of the ramp, she saw her master calling out to her. She climbed on a broken piece of a beam and ran along it. She jumped out to catch the hand he was holding out. Ahsoka gave a breath of relief as she was pulled into the ship, but how would she explain about Leia? “Thanks Master.” She said, as she slumped into a chair. “Where are we going?”

“Alderaan!” Padme exclaimed as she tried to manoeuvre her star-ship. The TIE fighters chased them but Nubian ships could outrun most ships due to their shape and material. It wasn't long before they moved into hyperspace and out of reality.

The shuttle landed in the hangar of the Executioner and the Sith Lord went into his room. No one seemed to question why he was holding a baby in his hands or why he hasn't asked for a report yet. Nevertheless, he was satisfied, he could have a normal life with it or train her to become a Sith and overthrow the Emperor then change the rules of the Sith. Naturally, he had an unavoidable love for the child, but he distracted himself from that love by focussing on the report.

“Kenobi a...a...and the anothers, others I mean, sorry sir, I...theyve escaped.” A rookie officer stuttered, out of fear of disappointing their leader but the mission was a failure anyway.

“Well, I appreciate the concern.” Vader replied, sensing his thoughts, “You are dismissed.”

“Thank you milord.” He returned and was about to walk out of that room. With an outburst of anger, Vaders lightsaber cut the man's body into half.

His daughter cried from all of that commotion, her hands calling for attention from the bed. He dropped his weapon and immediately focussed on the wailing baby's needs. He picked her up and gently rocked her to make her comfortable then put her to sleep.

Vader felt a fatherly affection for her he had never had. He chuckled at the thought of being a father at the age of 23. He had expected himself to be, well, older when he would have a child or maybe even never.

Then the thought of his loyalties to the Sith came to mind and he became slightly nervous. His master would be disappointed and to answer that thought, the voice of Sidious spoke from behind him.

“You have become soft Darth Vader. Is it because of Amidala or the child?”

‘It is obviously not that cheating woman.’ He thought and bowed with respect out of fear. “Master –”

“Save it, my apprentice.” He said then approached the child, who awoke and with its innocence, smiled at the old man. “Impressive, Vader. I sense the power of this child. It would be a great ally.”

“I could train the child.” His apprentice spoke.

“No. In this condition, you cannot train this child to become your apprentice; instead, I will train her as my assassin.” Sidious replied, taking the child with him. Vader let his emotions get the best of him as he charged towards his master with his lightsaber. The Master turned and activated the inhibitor chip to electrocute his apprentice.

“Remember Vader, you are my slave.” Palpatine reminded him and watched Vader being tortured, “I did not want to use this but sometimes you make it too difficult. Until you are fully obedient, you will never see you child again.”

“No.” The father moaned, but he could do nothing but listen to the cries of his child being abducted by his master.

* * * * transition * * * *

“No.” Padme stated. Leia had been abducted by her father and he was surely going to train her as a Sith. Now the Jedi requested her to let them train Luke, taking them both away from her. “I can't allow you.”

Yoda looked down as he said, “Senator, a powerful enemy Vader is. With Leia by his side, in turmoil, the galaxy would be.”

“And Luke is our only hope. We need him, in order to restore peace in the galaxy.” Obi Wan joined in.

“I am sorry master Jedi but I said no.” Padme said, as she turned to leave the room.

“I know how you feel.” The Jedi Master spoke, “I promise I will not allow Luke to be lost just like you lost Anakin.”

Padme stopped for a while and then looked at the Jedi. She replied, “But what if –”

“Do not worry Padme, he will be safe.” Kenobi reassured her.

“Okay,” she heaved a sigh, “I will allow it, but you have to promise me, that he will not be harmed in any way.”

“Yes, milady.” Kenobi nodded, “I will take him with me and train him in my exile.”

“Senator, looking for you the Empire is. Suggest hiding I do.” Yoda brought into notice.

Padme smiled with a new hope as she said, “I thank you for your concern, Master Yoda, but I have other plans.”

That was a fun prologue, eh? Five chapter length, hopefully some of you stuck this long. The actual story begins at the next chapter.

P. S. I don't know why I wrote this (I was 14). I could have just delivered some short sentences to make you guys understand, but 5000+ words would go to waste.
