Hopeful Help-Chapter 4

---

"I can't do this" She mumbled to herself, her magic fading like a glitch "Yes you can. Nothing ever works on the first try" Loki smiled as she frowned "But this is different, you know how to tie ribbons...I don't know how to make magic" Tears welded up in her eyes, soft crystals ready to fall as Loki's smile vanished. "Please don't cry" He cooed softly stood up and walked towards her, pulling her tightly into a hug as she sobbed into his shoulder.

"I can't do magic-" "Shush, don't say that" Loki mumbled into her ear as she softly sniffled, hiding her face into the crook of his neck as her arms tightened around his shoulders. Eager to be comforted by the prince as he seemed to be the only one to understand her in the way she wanted to be understood.

"We'll practice, everyday if we have to. I'll help you, mother will help you and Heimdal will help you-Everyone will help you. We're family now" He told her, pulling away slightly while gently gripping her shoulders for comfort as the tears in her eyes doubled. But not because of sadness, Loki's words hit her right in the feels, her heart beating at his words as she threw herself around him, clutching onto him for dear life.

"Thank you Loki" She softly cried into his shoulder as he soothingly rubbed his hand in circles around her back. "It's all my pleasure Sylph, what are friends for in the end right?" He smiled as he gently held her by her shoulders "You're right..." She sniffled at his words while trying to compose herself together "I'm always right" Loki mused as he stared down at her now smiling face "You are? Are you sure" She then began to laugh at Loki, who by now had a shock written all over his features.

Never once was he ever insulted, well not intentionally anyway, and not by anyone other than Thor or his friends...But this insult he received...He felt joy come from it, he actually laughed at it. Instead of running off into the library to hide as he silently cried his pain away until his mother had to come and find him as he'd go missing for hours on end.

"The audacity to insult me is quite brave Sylph, especially coming from you-" The both of them once again fell into a fit of laughter as kids around them were giving the pair strange and ever-so slightly annoyed looks "What can I say prince, there's no one out there like me" Sylph couldn't help her hands reaching up to hold her chest, her lungs and insides somewhat burning from the intense laughing session with Loki.

"Never have I ever laughed that much in my entire life time-and that's saying something" Loki sighed softly as he remained calm after a minute of relaxed breathing to control himself "Glad to be of service Loki". His smile never seemed to falter the more time he spent with her, something about her brought joy and happiness to him, his insides felt alive and giddy with the thought of being able to see her every day for hours with no limits...He felt happier.

---

"Y-Yes-LOKI!" She screamed as the ball of light remained in her palm, the florescent glow continuing to thrive in her hand as for the first time in weeks her 'magic' seemed to work out fine with the help of Loki and his mother, as well as the Mistress, her teacher.

"It's glowing Loki-It's working-It's actually working-" She cheered as Loki's smile couldn't of been more appreciative and caring "Thank goodness, I was thinking we would've had to go and ask the help of my father." "Why would we need your father?" Sylph asked softly, a frown growing as the ball of light vanished into nothing "W-well, I thought that he could help you with your magic as I've seen you troubling slightly over the past couple of months you've been here..." "So you thought I wouldn't of been able to achieve my magic..." She asked quietly as she felt tears brimming in her eyes, it's not that she was upset, she was only upset with the fact that he thought she couldn't control her magic without the help of an adult.

"That's not what I meant Sylph-" "But it's what you've been thinking then?" She argued softly, not wanting to raise her voice in case of a breakout of her magic "N-no, you've got it all wrong, I meant that father could've helped you unlock your powers easier with a lot less struggle-" "So you thought I wouldn't able to learn about magic?..." "Sylph that's not what I meant".

Loki was indeed getting upset at her, why would she ever think this way about him? Was that the type of aura and emotion she felt radiating off of him? Was he that self absorbed that all she felt around him was narcissism? Was that all she thought about him?

"I never meant to hurt your feelings Sylph...I just-I just wanted to help..." He frowned sadly as he turned to walk away, leaving behind a slightly guilty and saddened Sylph who was re-thinking her decision to run up to him and apologise for her stupid actions and ridiculous choice of words.

"Loki wait!" She called out as her feet ran towards the direction to which he left "Loki-" She turned around a tight corner and bumped right into someone, a rather similar looking boy who she'd sworn she'd seen before "Do I know you?" She asked softly, not really wanting to embarrass herself "Yeah, remember when you blew up the common room? I was the one who kinda-" He gulped as he stared down at her "-Who pushed his limits" They both turned around as Heimdal was clearly and officially making his way over to Sylph.

"Return to your home Knightly" "Of course" The brown eyed boy smiled apologetically as he walked off into the direction he was previously heading in "I have to find Loki Heimdal I need to-" "You must find him at another time, we have something important to discuss" "But-" "I want no argumentation young one" She was about to open her mouth again and...well, argue. But she shut her mouth and let the golden eyed man drag her away.

---

"Heimdal-" "We're going as discussed" "But what about Loki-and Frigga, a-and...and everyone else..." She mumbled the ending to her sentence as her cheeks went red. Loki was always the first thing that came out of her mouth, and she meant it half the time "He and the family of royal will await us until you arrive" "But I don't want to go Heimdal, I want to stay and learn here. Please-" She begged while wrapping her arms around his waist and looking up.

"Please don't send me, I wanna go to their school and learn with them-I don't wanna be with other people who'll just make fun of me for being a human" She started to cry softly as she buried her face into his stomach, with an intention to hide herself from him "Sylph-" Heimdal paused as he stared down at the little girl.

He wasn't lying to himself or anyone when he denied that he indeed got attached to the girl currently crying...He oddly enough was enjoying her company, he never had the chance to find love, and never had the chance to ever have children of his own...She was the daughter to him he was never able to have...So he grew attached to her in more ways he'd like to admit to himself or anyone else for the matter.

"Sylph, please don't make this more difficult then it has to be" "P-Lease! Heimdal, I don't wanna go" She sobbed louder while hugging him tighter, every part of her was begging him to let her stay, "Please..." She whispered softly as he wrapped his own arms around her "Sylph darling-Whats wrong?" Frigga cooed while walking to the two of them from the other side of the room.

"I don't wanna go Frigga, I don't" "Go where sweetheart?" "I don't want to go to another school somewhere else, I wanna go to the one I'm going to with Loki" She sobbed softly again as she wrapped her arms around Frigga's neck, just wanting some sort of comfort from someone other than the man who wanted to send her to another school.

"Heimdal? Sending her to another school? Why the sudden change of her schooling?" "Your majesty, with all due respect-" "No Heimdal, I don't wish Sylph to change her schooling, her relationship with Loki is darling sweet, I wish them not apart while she grows mature. I do not wish to ruin their friendship with devastating new such as this" Frigga ordered while staring straight into Heimdal's eyes, ordering him silently as he looked away from shame.

"What ever you wish appropriate my queen" Frigga nodded her head while gently shushing Sylph, who by now had developed sniffles with her face continuously  buried into the chest of Frigga who was still kneeling beside her "Thank you Frigga, you're the best queen ever" Sylph smiled while wrapping her arms around the elderly women's neck out of thankfulness.

---

"Loki, I'm staying with you!" Loki looked at her strangely "Staying with me?" "I'm not moving schools!" She laughed while her arms happily flew around his neck "You were going to move..." He frowned at her words, lightly holding her waist with his chin delicately resting on her shoulder "Key word; Was" She giggled as her arms seemed to tighten around him, reassuring Loki that she wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

He remained soft and emotionless as he was still slightly upset at her from earlier on, but he tried his hardest to forget about it and move on as there were things much more important then being upset at stupid things such as a small argument that could easily be solved with an apology.

"I'm not going anywhere yet Loki, I'm staying here, with you-a-and Frigga" She blushed crimson as Loki couldn't help the smile growing on his face "I knew you wouldn't leave me!" He cheered as he gripped her waist and swung the both of them around. He may of looked like a small child who couldn't lift his own weight-but in reality-he was just as strong as Thor, he just didn't look it like his brother.

"Loki! Put me down!" She laughed as Frigga smiled warmly with Odin, his eye carefully looking at his 'son' "We should tell him Odin, we shouldn't keep it from him any longer" "I know my love, I'm just waiting for the right time" "I know that, it's just-the sooner we tell him the sooner he'll understand" Odin turned around and cupped his wife's cheek "I'll tell him one day love, just not yet" "Alright, but please do...I have a bad feeling about Loki these days" "I'll keep a watchful eye on him my love, nothing will happen to him on my watch" "Thank you" Frigga leaned forward and tenderly kissed Odin's cheek before walking off.

Odin stayed a little while longer as he watched the two children playing together, he smiled to himself as he watched his son talking his heart out with the girl who had been brought from Midgard due to a chance of her death.

He watched them for sometime before he turned on his heel to leave, leaving towards the throne room to finish some work with the councilors.

---

"Are we going together?" Sylph asked Loki as she sat beside him in his room as he was gathering books and putting them in his bag for the school day ahead "Of course, were you expecting to go alone?" He asked with a laugh "No...Just curious" She went red with nervousness as Loki paid no attention to the sudden redness in her cheeks as he continued to get ready for school.

"You coming Sylph?" Laughed Loki as she had been staring at the wall for the past five minutes Loki had been calling her "Y-yeah" She continued to blush scarlet while using her hands to push herself off the couch as her feet didn't quite reach the floor yet from her tiny height as an eleven year old.

"We must hurry before we're late" "We won't be late Loki, at least not yet" She giggled softly as he grabbed her hand and pulled her along towards the horses...

"Horses?" "Well, how else did you think we were going to school?" Loki smirked at her shocked reaction, never in her life did she ever think she'd be going to school with a horse "W-well-I..." She didn't exactly know what to say to him as she couldn't even think of a reason as to why she'd rather walk to school by herself.

"I don't know Loki, I don't really know how to ride a horse..." She mumbled while taking a step back from intimidation "No need to be afraid, I never said you'd be riding one. You'll be riding with me" Loki smiled warmly as he reached his hand out for her to take.

"W-with you?!" She blurted out before cupping her own mouth shut as she turned beet red once again "Whom with were you expecting to go with?" Loki asked with slight confusion, his raven brows knitting together as he gripped the reigns of his horse "No one-I just...wasn't expecting...Horses" She gulped nervously while Loki's eyes widened slightly in realisation.

"Come on Sylph, nothing will happen. I assure you" Loki smiled as he wrapped his hand around hers, hoisting Sylph up at the moment Thor entered the stables "Good morning Sylph, Loki" Loki mumbled something incoherent as Sylph only managed a half-hearted smile towards the blonde prince "Morning" She smiled at him as he walked past them to ready his own horse.

"Let's go Sylph" She snapped her attention towards Loki as her arms instinctively wrapped around his waist from the sharp build up of speed from the stallion, letting out a small yelp of surprise with her body now clinging tightly to him in hopes to not fall off and break a few of her bones in her body she wished to not break on the short journey to school...

She would definitely be in trouble from Heimdal then...
