Excerpt from Confessions of a Teenage Caffeine Addict

JAKE

        I opened the window to my bedroom, which was thankfully on the first floor. Once we were both inside I dragged Jules into the bathroom, turned the shower on and shoved her under the cold, icy stream of water. "What the hell was that?" I shouted as Jules collapsed to the floor and sobered up. It didn't matter if I raised my voice because my parents were at the other end of the house, upstairs. "What were you thinking, announcing to half the school that you were pregnant?" I smashed my hand into wall. The smacking sound reverberated around the shower making it sound louder than it actually was. Jules shrank back from me, even though I was nowhere near her, yet.

        "I don't know," she mumbled. 

        "That was a really well thought through plan, Julianne," I sneered at her, bending down to her level. "What did you think that telling everyone would do? Hm?" I grabbed her chin and forced her to look up at me. 

        "I don't know," came the same skittish reply from her in the same scared, remorseful tone. 

        I let go of her chin and stood up. "Jesus Christ, Julianne! You have the greatest ideas sometimes, you know?" I shouted and kicked at the rug that was on the floor. If Jules ever had the another brilliant idea anytime soon, like... oh I don't know, apply for a job, under the "Good Qualities" section she could list stuff like: self-centred, agrees with pink, will take bribes, can be paid in clothes—size 0 or 2.

        "What. Were. You. Thinking?" I ground out each syllable. Jules didn't even reply this time.

        I left it at that.
