xxvii. Exposing Me

Exposing Me

"There." Reid said, pointing to a specific location.

Hours after Abe had left, his plane went missing not too long afterward. I knew this would be the outcome; the reason why Ramadi had wanted to know about the trip Abe took once a year. This was his game and we were forced into playing it.

I enlarged the area and recognized it as the border between Idaho and Washington. There was nothing there but trees for miles and miles. A wonderful place for a plane to go missing.

"It's our best bet." I said before looking at Lily. "You said you had a vision right?"

Lily said she had seen the meeting and Abe wasn't there but she didn't know exactly where the plane went missing. Without the location, we were playing straight into Ramadi's hands. I kept thinking, if Reid and I were to leave you and Lily, then Ramadi would attack. Even feeling that way, I still decided to leave because Abe was with Ramadi.

He was the reason behind Lily seeing nothing but darkness. He was inside of Abe's head and when Reid spoke about an ambushed, I knew I had to play along. If we didn't leave, I knew Reid would question as to why. Why were we standing here and not out there searching for Abe?

So, yeah, I knew it was trap laid out for us and I purposely walked into instead of coming out and telling you my secrets.

You had wanted to go with Reid and I but I wasn't that naive to let you get anywhere near Ramadi. Reid felt the same way. I knew how stubborn you could be so I asked, Des to watch you and Lily while we were gone.

"You don't honestly think we're going to stay here, do you?" You asked, crossing your arms over your chest.

"Yes, I do." I said, nodding. "You want to know why? Because you're surrounded by a gate and a few dozens guardians that aren't going to let you two leave."

You had the same thoughts as I did about Ramadi coming to the mansion but it didn't mattered if he did. You were still protected by the gate and guardians. Before I got into the SUV, I kissed your forehead and then I drove away.

If I knew that you would've found a way to escape, I would've brought you with me but of course I didn't.

We reached the location in one hour, give or take. We followed the trail the plane had made on the ground and in less than a minute, we came across the plane.

Walking around the mental object, there was nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing that would've caused the plane to crash. The wings were intact and the engine was in prefect condition. The plane was in perfectly good shape.

"What the hell?" Reid said. "There's nothing wrong with it."

I nodded. "I see that but that doesn't mean someone couldn't hijack the system to make an emergency landing."

"Ramadi's smart enough to figure how to do that too." His eyes widened. "The girls! We have to get back."

He didn't wait for a response before running back to the car. I followed behind, calling you. I told you what we came across, expecting you to do as I said but you did the exact opposite.

The second we got back to the mansion, Des reported you and Lily missing. Why couldn't you listen to me for this one time? This was what Ramadi wanted. He wanted you and Lily to leave the safe house to out in the opening so he could have a better chance at getting you both.

But I couldn't blame you. It was my fault. I shouldn't have left in the mansion in the first place. I called you three time before you answered.

"Where are you?" I asked, immediately.

"You know the good thing about having an untraceable phone is you can't trace it. Isn't that great!"

"Millie this isn't a game." I said, sternly. "Wherever you are, stop and turn back around."

You hummed. "Sorry no can do. But don't worry we're safe."

"Get your ass back to the mansion now!"

"After we find Abe, we'll be on our merry way."

"Millie-"

"Bye!" You said before hanging on, making me more frustrated.

I walked to Abe's office and went over to his desk. I pulled up every car's information and found the one I was looking for. I might've not be able to trace the phone but I sure damn could trace the SUV because every vehicle had a tracker. I clicked on the last known location and it was a auto shop an hour away from here.

I grabbed the keys and walked towards the door, Reid right behind me.

"I'm guessing, she didn't tell you where they were."

I nodded. "She didn't but I know how to find them."

Before driving to the car shop, I made a stop at the school.

"Where are we here?" Reid asked.

"Because there's a pretty face someone can't resist to."

After I picked Lucas up, I drove to the auto shop while Reid filled Lucas in on the situation, giving him more information than I originally did.

"Let's go. The girls left the mansion."

I pulled into the auto shop and my eyes immediately went to the black SUV that was parked on the left side, abandoned. I got out the car and headed to the small building.

"I'm closed! Leave!" A male voice yelled from the back when the bell above the door rung.

"I will as soon as you tell me what car you gave two young girls." I replied when he came out the back room, cleaning a wrench.

He scoffed. "You mean what car they stole? It was my car they took."

"What kind of car is it?"

"An Audi R8."

"Which way did they head?"

"West."

Once I got the information, I turned around and walked out the door but I still heard his last response.

"Are you giving me my car back?

I got into the vehicle and reversed back into the road, heading west. I told Reid and Lucas what car to look out for but there wasn't much to look at but trees until I drove for another two hours, getting into civilization.

Fortunately for us, it wasn't a very big town. I might've drove around for five minutes before Lucas spotted the car at a bed and breakfast place. I parked the car in the front and Lucas got out the car.

He walked inside and went to the front desk, speaking to a lady. A moment later, Lucas walked back outside and I rolled the window down.

"She said they're here but she won't give us their room number." Lucas said.

I nodded. "That's fine. As long as we know they're here, we don't need the room number."

"I'll check the floors." Reid offered, stepping out the car and heading inside.

I got out the car and decided to wait outside, leaning against the building. Lucas waited with me for another ten minutes before I sent him inside to check on Reid.

Out my peripheral vision, I had seen movement and when I turned my head, I saw it was you and Lily, coming from the the side gate, running. Instead of running to the car you two were obviously heading to, I ran after you two instead, aiding in your escape.

I swore as you got into the car and drove away. By the time, I got to my car and Reid and Lucas came outside, it was too late to follow you. It didn't help that you stole a fast ass car either. I drove in the direction, I had last seen you drive in.

Yet, you had managed to escape again. But don't forget, I was smarter than you. There were many back roads, you could've taken but you weren't thinking about that as you drove away from us. I figured you drove in the town, making countless turns to get away but as soon as you believed you had escaped, you would get back on the main road that would take you to whatever you originally planned on going.

I pressed on the gas and floored it. Ten minutes later, we came across the wrecked car without you or Lily in sight.

At the moment, I couldn't think of a specific place Ramadi would've taken you. I didn't have a choice but to wait for a sign I knew would appear in the sky sooner or later.

I didn't know where the north or south poles were located or where Ramadi took Tartarus's body but I had a feeling, I was going to find out that night.

"He did it." Reid spoke, looking at the sky, watching the beam of light only the Arsyian could see. "He actually did it." He glanced down. "He awoken Tartarus."

"We need to get to them now." I replied. "Teleport as close as you can."

That kind of energy you used to awaken a evil demon wasn't one that you could live through. I could only hope you listened closely to my words about your animal and remembered what Aqua could do for you.

"It's not gonna be very close. Not when I'm taking him." He said, nodding to Lucas.

The last time I had teleported was back in California when Eli Smith tried to kill you. I didn't go a far distance but I still managed to black out. I didn't want to think about what would happen if Reid tried to teleport himself and Lucas at the same time.

"Take some of mine." I held out my hand. "You can at least make it twice as far."

He hesitated but I didn't wait for him a second longer before I grabbed his arm and released my powers into him, feeling it drain from my own body.

I dropped my arm and got into the car, speeding to the nearest plane I could find. It was a two seater plane thirty miles from where I last was. Ron, the person who was nice enough to give me a ride, got me to Washington and from there I took a train, then a boat before I felt I could teleport the rest of the way to you.

I found you, laying in the snow as Aqua kept you covered, passed out. Aqua became defensive of you but once she realized I wasn't a threat, she stood down and allowed me to pick you up before placing you onto Aqua's back.

If you're wondering how Aqua looked, here's a description of her. She was a light blue creature with four legs you would typical see on a normal house but instead of a hairy tail she had a tail of a seahorse. Her legs would disappear under water and scales would appear on her wet skin.

You still needed to be close to her for the next hour or so. Aqua took us the closet place she could without being caught by the humans before I sent her away.

I stole a car, placed you in the back and drove back to Montana. You went in and out of consciousness before you opened your eyes.

"Are you finally awake this time or are you going to fall back to sleep?" I asked, looking into the rearview mirror.

You sat up. "No, I don't think so. At least not right now."

"Good because all I want to do is lecture you about how completely stupid you were."

You asked me why I didn't and I told you because it wasn't the most important thing. You being safe was all that mattered to me. You apologized for leaving the mansion. You had thought you could outsmart Ramadi.

"It's Ramadi. Even when you think you're one step ahead of him, you're not." I replied. "He thinks of every possible outcomes and prepares for them. He knew exactly how to get you and Lily away from the mansion to finish his task and he did it."

You asked me to fill you in on what you missed and I told you everything that had happened while you were unconscious. You asked about Abe and I told you not to worry about it. Reid and I would handle it.

"I want to help."

"You've done enough helping."

You didn't respond for the rest of the drive back to the mansion and once we got there, Maria checked every inch of you, making sure you were okay. As soon as Reid walked through the doors with Lily, looking as if she would pass out at any given second, we came up with a plan to get Abe back.

I still had Rhett's phone number and I got in touch with him. Telling him now that, Ramadi had what he wanted, he could give Abe to us. It came to a surprise to me when Ramadi agree to it without anyone negotiations but I kept quiet and we picked a location to meet at.

"I'm gonna tip their bloody heads off!" Lily said once she was more awake. "They took our dad. They tricked us and on top of that they almost killed us. Do I need to say anymore?"

Lily wanted to tag along as well as you did when we met up with Ramadi but that wasn't happening.

"You're not going anywhere." Reid told her. "You're staying here while we go get Abe."

"No, we're not." Lily protested. "Didn't you just hear what I said?"

He nodded. "I did which it more reasons for you two to stay here. Hayes contacted Ramadi and he's willing to meet us in two hours to return Abe to us."

You thought it was a trap which I thought the same thing and I planned head for it already.

"We know that." I said. "That's why we're bringing our own backup."

They were getting ready as we spoke.

Lily mentioned the weak state Ramadi was in and I couldn't help but wondered why he craved to awaken Tartarus when he so badly wanted to have to world to himself? That answer hit me the second after I thought about it. The only way he could rule this world was if he had the same strength as Tartarus.

"Think about it." I said when you all couldn't understand why Ramadi was weak. "All Ramadi ever wanted was to awaken Tartarus, a powerful monster. Now that he accomplished that he's weak. As in five hundred years weak."

"He wanted to become all powerful and when he awakened Tartarus, Tartarus's power went into Ramadi." Reid said, catching on.

Lucas said they were connected and that now make Ramadi invincible and indestructible. You thought differently. You believed that you could take away what you had given and now that they were connected, we could take them both out.

"One problem." Reid said. "You're supposed to be dead, remember?"

You nodded. "Exactly. That's our advantage. They think we died and there's no one on this planet that can stop them. They think they won but we take them by surprise. We play them at their own game."

Lily had agreed with you, saying it was our best chance at defeating Ramadi. Everyone was so hellbent on defeating Ramadi they forgot about one thing.

"And let's say we don't defeat Ramadi." I spoke. "Then he'll know you two are alive and there goes our element of surprise."

You shrugged. "Then we can't lose. We destroy him today."

You were still hopeful we could kill Ramadi and that it would all end today but if that was the case, Ramadi would have never agreed to meet up with us.

Reid and Lucas felt the same way as you and Lily did. You all felt like we had a chance at destroy Ramadi.

"And who said you were coming?" I asked, lifting an eyebrow. "Look, I understand how high our chances are but I don't want to risk anything."

Especially not right now. If we lost, there wasn't another guarantee we could try to take him again. I wanted us to wait a little longer, get the strength we needed before trying to defeat him.

"You're already risking something." You informed me. "You're going to meet Ramadi to get our father back. Ramadi can't be trusted and who's the say he will even bring Abe with him? For all we know, he can be sending you to this location, for your death. So why not risk this?"

I ran my hand down my face, thinking about what you had said before sighing. I was going to regret this but I was running out of time.

"Okay, if we're going to do this, we're going to do it my way and my way only."

I thought up another plan, a plan that was foul proof. There was no room for any mistakes. The backup I was bringing would wait for Abe a few miles away from where we would be meeting Ramadi and once we got Abe back, after he hears about the death of his daughters, I would tell him where to find the guardians.

Lucas, Reid and I would stall Ramadi long enough until Abe reached the guardians, safely, and when Ramadi had thought he won, I would signal you and Lily to emerge from your hiding spot and right then and there you two would attack, without thinking about it.

That's how it was supposed to go anyway but Ramadi threw you and Lily off when he opened the Earth and summoned the hellhounds.

I saved you and Lily from the first hellhound  and informed you more would be arriving. I told you I would go after Ramadi and bring him back. Your job was to kill all of the hellhounds before they ran loose.

I ran into the forest, coming across a few of Ramadi's men. I took them out easily and continued to ran after Ramadi. He was in my line of sight until he wasn't. A woman had emerged from above me and landed right in front me.

"If you want the job done, don't sent the men to do it." She said as she stood in front me, blocking me from Ramadi.

She had curly short ginger hair, blue eyes, and a hard, cold, expression on her face.

"I don't want to hurt." I spoke. "Get out the way."

She smiled a little. "I doubt it. I took down men twice your size and their blood was oh so delicious." She licked her lips.

She was a Morche. She would eventually had to leave before she sun killed her but I couldn't wait another thirty minutes for the sun to rise.

"I gave you a chance to leave, I don't give another."

She shrugged. "Don't bother. I'm not moving." She got into a fighting stance and I didn't waste another second before moving to attack.

I'd admit she was a lot tougher to handle than the men as she ducked and dodged my blows. The question that entered my mind the moment I realized what she was, was why was she helping Ramadi?

The longer it took for me to take her down, the further Ramadi got.

"You do know, if you don't find a cave to hide in, you will die?" I asked, moving as she attempted to kick me.

"I wouldn't worry about the sun but the person whose connected to it."

I frowned. "What?"

"She's gonna die today." She informed me. "And it's all thanks to you." She straightened up, listening to her earpiece. "You made it? Good." She glanced at me. "See ya."

She disappeared into the trees and I thought about what the woman said for a brief second before I starting running back to you and then that's when I heard your ear splitting scream.

I stepped into the clearing and had seen Lily in Lucas's arms and you laying on your side on the grass, staring at Lily with tears in your eyes.  Something had passed between you and Lily in those few minutes because one second you were laying on the ground, gripping your stomach and the next you were up on your feet, running towards Lily.

"Why would you do that?" You asked. "Why would you disconnect us?"

I didn't know a seer and siren could be disconnected once they were connected. Nothing like that had ever happened before. But that should be the last thing on my mind. Lily was dying and there was nothing we could do about but watch her life fade from her eyes.

Lily had wanted Lucas to sing to her to take her mind off the pain. With tears falling out his eyes, Lucas did what she requested. He didn't make it to the second verse before Lily took her last breath and her eyes closed. I wrapped my arms around you as you began to sob.

Lily's body began to disappear from Lucas's arms.

"What..what's happening?" Lucas asked, worriedly.

Her faded body turned into a huge white orbit. It was her soul, representing the sun, warm and bright. She floated up to the sky before vanishing.

"Lily?" You said, confused, looking to your right at an empty field.

"What are you staring at?" Reid asked.

You said it was Lily but you were the only one who could see her. Lily had words for everyone. She loved Lucas, told Reid to date Renee, and to my surprise she told me not to blame myself for her death yet I couldn't do that. It was my fault and I have that guilt with me for the rest of my life.

The last thing she said before she left was she would always protect us.

When we got to the mansion and told Abe about Lily's death, chaos erupted. Abe destroyed his office and you were in denial until you realized Lily wasn't coming back. You had seen and felt it but still you didn't want to believe it.

"She's gone." I told you, softly. "And she's not coming back, Millie."

Shaking your head, you said. "No, you're wrong. She isn't gone. This is just a dream any second now, I'm going to wake up."

"I wish it were a dream, Millie but you're not dreaming. Lily is dead."

Hearing that she was dead, you started to cry and I held you in my arms before taking you to your room. At the time, I knew you were in dark place and even I couldn't bring up out of it. Only time could but no one knew how long that would take.

Reid left that same day, not saying bye to me. He carried the weight of Lily's death on his shoulders. He was her guardian and it was his job to keep her save but that wasn't his fault. He isn't the one to blame. He didn't fail her. I did.

Lily's funeral came and Jessie, her guardian who watched her grow for thirteen years, was the speaker. After he spoke, the video rolled then you sang just as Abe sang for Allison.

It wasn't until I went to check on you, later that night, I discovered you were missing. I thought you might've been in Lily's art room but you weren't. You were no where to be found and by the time, it occurred to me that you left the mansion, I had my own problems to deal with.

Abe's guardian had come to arrest me for my treasonous acts. I didn't let them take me away. I fought my way out and got away. I had to find you before you hurt yourself and tell you myself what happened before they did.

That's all of it, Boo, from the very beginning to the very end. Now you the know the truth, the real story.  So you see, everything that had happened was because of me. You getting your heart broken, Abe's plane not making it to Seattle, and Lily's death were all my fault and I'm sorry.

If you don't believe me, at least believe this, I love you.
