ix. Wanting Us

Wanting Us

On the third day of school, you received your first detention. You were mad and you disagreed with Stan. You felt as if everyone should've gotten detention for not listening and not just you.

Instead of working on your song, you were in library researching over our history. You apologized to me for having to be stuck with you another two hours. I told you it was fine and it was. I didn't mind spending more time with you. I enjoyed every moment I could get. You did your work and I leaned against the wall, watching you.

The next day you couldn't wait until you got to Stan's class. You were ready to deliver your speech but you didn't. He didn't make you. He said it was for your benefit and you got angry. You ripped the paper in half and threw it away.

I could tell you were in a bad mood because you agreed to everything Ava said during practice. You noticed Sophie rehearsing in the another practice room and you entered.

"How's it going?" You asked.

"It's going." Sophie told you. "It could be better but Zach never wants to practice." Sophie glanced at me. "Can you talk to him?"

"I doubt he'll listen to anything I say." I said.

She shrugged. "It was worth the try" Her green eyes brightened up. "Millie can you help me?"

"With?" You asked.

"The song" She said. "You promised you'll help me."

You told her you would help because you were already here. You looked at me and said only if it was fine with me. Sophie said I would mind and I smiled at her.

"No. But make it quick. I have to go to a meeting."

I had a meeting with Selena. I didn't know what it was about but I figured it had something to do with you because Reid didn't have to go.

You faced Sophie and asked her what she could do. Zach came out the studio, saying, they're were suppose to work on the song and Sophie dismissed him. He didn't mind. He shrugged and left.

You stopped Sophie half way in her song. "Sing that part again."

She did and she got scared. She wasn't sure if she could sing higher than she could.

"Okay the only way you're going to get better is if you have faith in yourself." You told her. "You can do it."

You thought of a song and told her to do exactly what you did. She watched you as you sang. Once you got done singing, you motioned for Sophie to sing. Her voice gave out. She was sad but you told her not to beat herself over it. You said you had a hard time hitting the same note.

I didn't think you did. I think you just said that to make her feel better.

"Really?" She asked.

You nodded your head. "Yeah. I get scared too but when I'm singing I forget about everything and everyone and the notes just flies out."

You weren't lying. You used to be scared to be sing and now you sung without hesitation. You were born for this. I had to leave for the meeting so your practice was cut short. I walked you to your dorm.

"Thank you for helping, Sophie." I said.

You looked at me, surprise and I knew why. I didn't speak to you unless it had something to do with my job.

"Um, you're welcome."

I met Selena in her office and she didn't waste any time. She began the meeting as soon as I sat down.

"King Abe wanted me to let you know that as it get closer to the princesses' birthday, their powers will grow, stronger."

"Yeah. I already know that."

"I know you do but Millie's power could come before her birthday. All it takes is one emotional outbreak and she will unleash them."

I thought back to the practice she had with Ava. She was angry and it wasn't good for her to sing while she was feeling that way. She didn't know how to control her voice. But angry wasn't the only thing that could unleash them. When she got sad, depressed or felt nothing, she could make everyone feel that way when she spoke.

"Just keep her away from drama the best you can."

I nodded once. "I'll try my best."

If I would've knew what Sophie was thinking, I would've kept her away from you and far away from him. But this was all on me. If I would've just loved you, none of this would've happened.

After the brief meeting, I went to my room. I didn't know how to keep your powers under the radar and give Ramadi what he wanted at the same time. He still hadn't said anything yet but I knew he was waiting.

The next day, you were on your way to English, when Selena stopped you and Lily.

"Your father wanted me to tell you, to have your clothes packed after school." She tells us.

"Why?" Lily asked, confused.

"He wants you two to stay with him on the weekends." She informed us.

The morning class went by quickly and you sat where you always did during lunch. I didn't pay much attention in what you were talking about until you mention love being in the air.

"It's not spring, Millie." Laura said.

"And?" You said. "It's still blossoming"

You suddenly jumped as if someone kicked you. Lily glared at you. Danielle asked if you were in love with someone. I waited for your answer. Even though you hadn't been here for very long, I noticed the way most guys looked at you and I didn't like it but I couldn't do anything about it.

"You caught me red handed." You said, smiling. "I like someone."

What you said made my heart dropped. You were moving on with someone I didn't know.

"Oh my gosh!" Laura yelled. "Who is it? Is it Chad David? Cause I can see why you fell for him."

You shake your head. "No it's-"

"Zander James." Danielle suggested.

"No it's um..." You paused. "Jason Shaws."

When you mentioned your ex boyfriend's name, I knew then something was up. You would never bring him up unless you were saying how horrible he was. Jason Shaws was a complete asshole. But then again so was I.

"Jason Shaws?" Lucas repeated. "We don't have a Jason Shaws at this school."

You nodded you head and told them how he went to a different school but your feelings for each other were too powerful for distance. I had to stop myself from rolling my eyes at that.

Laura gushed over how cute it was and after Lily glanced at me she wanted to know about Jason. I knew you told her about your ex and I knew this was your way of getting revenge on me somehow.

Your last class came and you really wanted to know how Lucas sounded. Ezra called random names out and they performed their song. I noticed when most of the girls kept looking at me while they sang. They weren't horrible but they weren't you and you were all I wanted. I wanted us.

Once Lucas performed you were in shocked. Lucas was a good singer, I'd give him that. You and Ava were the last ones to perform and I somehow wished I could listen to your voice, forever but I couldn't because Ava started singing. She wasn't a bad singer but I loved your voice.

Even though the song you were singing was for me. You looked in my eyes while sung and I wanted us to be together again. I longed for it. Ezra broke our eye connection and you walked off the stage. You fist bumped Lucas while Ezra talked about his new assignment.

We had five minutes before the bell rang and you glanced back at me.

Lucas followed your glaze. You asked something and you sighed. You answered him and then the bell rang. You grabbed your bag and walked out. I followed you.

Lily joined you, wrapping her arm around your shoulders. You smiled and asked if she was ready to see the beast and face his claws.

"I think it's time we finally get our answers."

When we got to the headquarters, you asked one of the maids where Abe was. She told you he was in a meeting.

"Do you think we can barg in there and demand for answers?" Lily asked you.

You told you that seemes like a good idea but you would have to get by Abe's guardians. Lily quickly agreed with you after she saw the guardians. You went to your room and I walked around the quarters.

Once I got to where Abe kept all his files, I made a choice. I needed to get there but I didn't have access to it but I knew how to lie. Victor was on watch, like always, and I walked over to him.

"Hayes, what can I do for you?"

"I need to get in there." I told him, nodding behind him.

Victor rose an eyebrow. "For what?"

"Abe needs to make updates but since he's in a meeting, he told me do it."

"Why would he ask you? Wouldn't he tell me to did it?"

I shrugged. "I don't know and I wouldn't question him."

"Well you really aren't allowed in there so why don't you tell me who needs updates and I'll do it for you." Victor told me.

"He asked me to do it so why don't you just let me in and we won't have any problems."

Victor thought about it for a minute and stepped aside to let me. I walked in and took in my surrounding. I saw the guardians label on the wall and walked that way. I opened the A-C cabinet and looked through it. Once my eyes came in contact with Cipriano, I grabbed the file. I opened it and took the papers. I put the empty file back and tuck the papers into the waist of my pants.

I exited the room and was heading to my room when I noticed you and Lily pressed up against a door, listening to Abe's meeting. I walked up behind you two.

"What are you doing?" I asked, causing you both to jump.

When you jumped, you turned around to see me but you also fell against the door, due to the small space. The door opened and every head in the meeting looked in our direction. You laughed, nervously and Lily smiled.

"What are they doing here?" Nathan asked. "Get them out of here."

"No." Abe said. "Let them stay." He looked at you two. "It's time for them to know the truth. It's time for them to know everything."

"Know about what?" You asked.

Abe looked at you, sadly. "It's time to know how Allison died and the reason why you come here."

I knew eventually Abe want tell you about Arysn and Allison but I didn't know it would be this soon. Abe really didn't like talking about the past. He hated it. Well not all of it. He blamed himself for what he couldn't have prevented. Ramadi killed his wife, your mother.

He ordered everyone to leave and I knew once you walked out that room, you wouldn't be able to think straight. It would be too much information to take in for you.

I went to my room and I removed the stole papers from my pants and laid them out on my desk. I needed to find out where my parents where when they were taken. Then maybe I could locate where Ramadi was.

I needed to be a head of him anyway possible. I hated being blind. I needed eyes and ears everywhere. I needed to know everything. As much as I could to stop him.

As I looked though their file, I didn't gain much information other than the fact, they were Europe, wherever part that may be. I put the paper in my drawer and locked it.

I walked downstairs and I saw you. You were frowning, lost in your thoughts. You were processing what Abe told you. You didn't even notice me until you ran into me.

I reached out and grabbed your elbow before you fell on the ground. I felt the sparks.

"Are you okay?" I asked, concern.

"Yeah." You told me, looking up.

I dropped your arm and took a step back. I was about to walk away but you stopped me.

"Why didn't you tell me, you're the one who saved me?"

I didn't turn around as I responded back.

"I didn't feel a need to tell you. It wasn't important."

"It wasn't important?" You repeated. "Saving my life wasn't important to you?"

"I did what any one else would've done."

"I had a feeling I already knew you. I knew you from somewhere and now I know why." I said. "We were best friend."

I didn't want to talk about it. Our lives on Arysn was short lived. I saved your life because you stood there afraid. You didn't know what to do.

"It had to be important if you risked your life to save me. You saved me becaue I was your friend."

I exhaled. You weren't going to let it go.

"It doesn't matter. It's in the past."

I lied. It did matter.
