iv. Kissing You

Kissing You

We were having a good time, just you and I, without everyone else. Then you went quiet and refused to look me in my eyes.

I placed my fingers under your chin and lifted your chin up so you had no choice but to look at me.

"Tell me."

You exhaled and I knew in that moment that you were going to lie to me but I went along with it.

"You'll never get to met my family." You told me, looking down. "It sucks cause I actually like you now." You joked. " And I know they would've like you too. Especially my dad."

I laughed without humor. "Your dad wouldn't like me."

If you only knew what I was doing you wouldn't like me either. Your father was going to kill me if he ever found out. I tried to pry out your real reason.

"That's not what you're going to tell me. There's something else."

You mentioned the crash and how Fate was testing you.

"Why's that?" I asked.

"To see how far it takes to finally break me."

I grabbed your hand. "You're holding up. You're not breaking."

You let out a shakey breath and you explained the crash to me. I told you it wasn't your fault and it was just accident and you laugh, humorlessly. You were on the verge of tears and I told you, you didn't have to tell me but you were persistent and you continued anyway. You paused the story every now and then to get your thoughts together.

Everything seemed reasonable until you said you saw a dark shadow but then it was replaced by a deer. I frowned because something wasn't right but you thought I thought you were crazy but I believed you.

You explained how you flew out the window and landed in a nearby ditch. You said before you blacked out you heard a voice.

You told me." He said, tell Ramadi we found her."

I stilled. It wasn't an accident. Ramadi caused it and I stood up, quickly, leaving you confused. Two months before I met up with him, Ramadi already knew where you were and he followed you here.

Why? What was his goal? Why cause a car accident?

You touched me and I tensed up.

"What's wrong?"

I looked at you and lied. "Nothing. I'll see you later, okay?"

I left you before you had a chance to say anything and I met up with Abe. I told him what you told me.

"I'm taking her with me, tonight" Is the first thing Abe told me. "Ramadi cannot get Millian."

I stayed calm. "If you take her now, Ramadi will get her. She needs to stay with me."

"He knows where she is!" Abe pointed out, frustrated. "He's watching her every movement."

"Exactly." I said. "Let him watch her. If she goes with you, everything will be blown."

And my parents will die. Not that Abe cared or anything. After all, he was the reason why they got captured in the first place.

"That doesn't make any sense. Millian is coming with me."

"No, she's not. She's staying with me. So far, Ramadi's men are just watching her. They haven't made a move. I don't think they are."

"Why?" Abe asked.

"Ramadi needs both of them in order to fulfil his plans. That's why she needs to stay with me. If she goes with you, she'll lead Ramadi straight to Lillian."

Abe knew I was right but he was still uncomfortable.

"Abe, don't worry. Ramadi will not hurt her. Not unless he has a death wish. Trust me."

Ramadi couldn't hurt her. He needed her and if he were to hurt, the oath was broken. He wouldn't be able to get his information he so desperately needed and he would died if he killed you.

Abe informed me about Reid and Lily. Ramadi wasn't watching her.

I nodded my head. "I talked to Reid a few days ago. It makes sense if Ramadi isn't watching Lillian. Millian is the powerful one." I explained.

"But Lillian is quite helpful. Especially if he wants to find out if his plan will work out."

"Yeah but he'll need both of them before he can accomplish his goal." I said. "That's why he's only watching Millian."

Lily would've seen him in her vision and even though she didn't remember him, she could warn Reid about him and Ramadi didn't like it when his cover was blown.

"It still isn't making any sense." Abe said "Ramadi can go after them any time he wants. Why is he waiting?"

I shrugged. "Your guess is good as mine."

The question still lingered in the air. Why was he waiting? He found you. Why didn't he take you the first chance he had?

We needed to get away and Shawn's lake house was a perfect getaway. It was a four hour trip but it was worth it. After figuring out what room we had, Gina decided to have a bonfire.

I sat beside you and you got distracted by me to notice your burning marshmallow.

"How burnt do you want your marshmallow to be?" I asked you.

You quickly pull out your marshmallow from the fire and scrunched your nose. You looked adorable. You pulled the sticky black cloud off the stick and threw it behind you.

I laughed and gave you mine and Teri brought out a guitar.

"It wouldn't be consider a bonfire without music."

Everyone was singing except you. I wanted you sing. You needed to sing but you didn't.

Shawn came back with water balloons and started throwing it at us. Daire was still singing.

You grabbed a blue balloon and aimed for Chris but missed completely and hit me. Everyone stopped in mid throw and glanced back and forth at me and you.

"Yeah, Audrey" Teri said. "If I were you I would be running right now."

You looked at me and I pretended to be mad at you as I narrowed my eyes.

"Audrey!" I yelled.

"I'm sorry!" You shouted. "Why were you standing there in the first place"

You couldn't outrun me but you still tried. I caught you and picked you up. I took my time walking back to the lake and you hit my chest.

"I said I was sorry" You told me. "Put me down."

With one look, you knew what I was going to do.

"You better not, Hayes." You warned me. "I said sorry."

"Well then I'm sorry, too."

I dropped you into the lake and you broke surface. I smiled at you while you glared at me. You climbed out the lake and headed inside the house.

They played Just Dance and then it was your turn. I watched you tried to do the moves and held back a laugh as you ended up in a dumb position.

"That was cute." I said, grinning.

You rolled your eyes as you got up from the ground. "Everything's cute to you"

"Not everything." I said, staring at you.

I motioned for you to follow me and you did. I leaned against the wooden rail and you placed your forearms on it, looking at the sky.

You asked if I ever felt like I know someone for a long time but it was only for a couple of months.

"Yeah sometimes." I replied. "Why?"

Shrugging, you glanced up at me. "That's how I feel when I'm with you."

I grinned. "You make me feel a lot of things. Things I wouldn't expect to feel."

"Oh yeah?" You moved closer to me. "How do I make you feel?"

"Right now, you're making me feel happy and crazy about you."

You didn't anything. You were lost in your thoughts.

"What are you thinking?" I asked.

"How crazy I must be for not giving in already and just fall for you."

The best and worst thing you could've ever had said. I didn't want you to fall for me but I needed you to because I needed to protect my mother. Her life depended on me.

"Stop resisting." I whispered as I slowly leaned in.

I knew I was in big trouble as soon as my lips brushed against yours. I gave you time to pull away but you didn't. Instead you wrapped your arms around my neck and brought me closer to your warm body.

I deepened the kiss, still kissing you slowly. I felt something entirely different from Daire. Something incredible. I pulled away from you, and grinned. You licked your lower lip.

"I told you, you couldn't resist my charms, Boo"

As you slept you had your first connection to your sister. You didn't know but you soon figured it. While you and everyone else went for a hike, I stayed behind to make a call.

Reid told about the connection. It was short but Lily managed to form one and that wasn't a good thing. Your past was catching up to you.

I was on my way to where you were when you ran into me. You told about the wolves and I made sure you were okay. The wolves were just another sign that time was almost over.

Abe met up with me while everyone was fast asleep.

"What happened?" Abe asked, concerned.

"Wolves were about to attack them."

"How deep were they in the woods?"

"A mile in."

Abe frowned then it creased. "Her scent got their attention."

"How? She doesn't have her necklace."

"Yes, but animal can still pick up the dullest scent in the world." Abe told me "They still can sense she is the moon"

"Is that why they didn't attack because of her?"

Abe nodded. "Exactly. They might not know her entirely but they know her. They know who control them."

The necklace made you stronger than what you were now. With the necklace, you were powerful. A force to be reckon with. Ramadi knew this. That's why he wanted you. If he had you, there's no telling what he might do but there's one thing that tops the list.

"Is she singing, again?" Abe asked.

"No but I'm working on it." I said.

Even though it's dangerous, Abe still wanted you to sing. It's a part of you. I didn't know how you were still resisting it.

"Keep trying." Abe told me. "She'll cave in eventually. Lillian is getting close to realizing her powers. It's only a matter of time before she does too."

"Reid got in touch with me this morning." I informed Abe. "He told me that Lillian connected with Millian last night. It was brief but she got in her dreams."

"Did Reidese tell you if Lillian thinks it was just a dream to her and nothing more?"

"No. He said she's getting nightmares of that night on Arsyn and it makes me wonder if Millian is having flashbacks too."

"Lillian is a seer. She's going to see more flashback than Millian. She's not going to understand only Millian is because of the music. In order for them to comprehend what's happening, is if they are together."

"That's exactly what Ramadi wants. He's testing them. Testing to see if they're smart enough to fill in the missing pieces." I said."He wants them to know they're not normal."

The next day we played What Are The Odds. We hiked up to the cliff and everyone was waiting for you jumped but you were scared.

They said if Chris could do it then you could do it. You still didn't jump. I stood behind you. I told you if you didn't jump I would push you off.

You watched me warily because you knew I would. I began to count and before I reached one, you jumped off. You yelled for me to jump and I did. I swam over to you and told you it wasn't that bad.

You kissed me and we got interrupted by Chris. We headed by to the house and we played another round. Shawn wanted you sing and he didn't get the chance to hear you.

You got mad when Teri asked me what the odds of me pouring water on the person to my left. You were on my left.

Our numbers matched and before you could finish your sentence, I pour the cold water on you. You jumped up and down as you complained how cold it was.

After the game, you went to take a shower and I went to my room. Daire tried to talk me out of dating you but I wasn't that easily persuaded. Even if the oath didn't exist, I would've still denied her.

She left my room with a mad huff and I wanted to invite you into my room but I figure I should wait.

I shouldn't have. That night, you heard the song your father played at your mother's funeral.
