iii. Helping You

Helping You

It was later in the week when Teri suggested we all go to the beach. I planned on going because I was trying to get closer to you. Everyday I had something new for you but true to your words your walls weren't coming down so easily and I needed them to.

It was nighttime when we arrived at the beach and I scanned the area looking for you but you weren't there. Daire saw me and smiled as she headed my way.

I looked at Teri. "Where's Audrey?"

She rolled her eyes. "At the apartments, moping."

I nodded once and before Daire reached me, I hopped into my Rover and drove to you. Once I got there, I walked up the stairs. I didn't have a key but that didn't stop me from entering. I concentrated on the lock and unlocked the door with my mind.

I stepped inside and I saw steam exiting the bathroom. The door was cracked but just barely. I pushed it open, slowly.

I heard your voice.

"Teri I don't want-"

You stopped when you realized it was me. You dropped your brush and gripped your white towel, tightly.

You spoke calmly but I knew you were mad.

"What the hell are you doing?"

I smirked, leaning against the doorframe. "Admiring the view."

It wasn't a lie. I was admiring you. You looked breath taking with your wet hair and the only thing keeping me from seeing you completely naked was a towel. I wished it would fall but it didn't. Not with your iron grip on it.

"You're such a pervert."

"I've been called a lot of things from reckless to sex god but a pervert isn't one of them."

You got sarcastic. "Do you wanna a metal? Can you move?"

I stood there for a moment before I let you pass by me. You headed to your room and I walked into the living room. I saw a photo book sitting on the table and I picked it up.

I flipped through it and I came across a photo of you smiling like you didn't have a problem in the world. You had on this dark blue dress. You looked amazing.

I felt you standing beside me.

"You're smiling. I never seen you smile before."

You took the book away from. "I am human, I do have feelings and I so happened to be happy that day."

You stared into nothing as if you were remembering something then you came back.

"What are you doing here?"

"Teri said you weren't coming so I decide to come to you."

I hid back my smile when you I saw your reaction.

"Won't Daire be lonely without you?"

I shrugged. "Daire means nothing to me." I looked at you. "But you're something and I intend to found out."

"Oh really? How do you plan on doing that?"

I grinned. "I told you, Boo. I'm going to break your walls down."

"I have pretty strong walls. They're not going down very easily."

I stood in front of you and leaned close to your ear.

"They will. They won't be able to handle my irresistible charms."

My words seemed to affected you because you shivered, slightly. You glanced up at me through your eyelashes.

"Hayes," You began. "you don't know what you have started. I might have to break your heart."

I smirked and slowly back away from you. I left and thought of ways I could make you open up to me.

The next night I had a meeting with Abe. I showed up late because Ramadi's men were following me.

I stopped walking and faced them.

"Quit following me." I told them. "If this is to work, don't follow me or else Ramadi won't get his information."

"If you don't give it to him, your parents are dead." One of them said.

"I'm not much used if I'm locked away. Now am I?"

They seemed to think about it before slowly disappearing. I walked through the treelines and Abe stood there.

"About time you decide to show up."

I folded my arms over my chest. "I'm not going to apologize for being late. I'm doing exactly what you order."

As well as Ramadi.

He wanted me to be in your life and get you to sing again. Ramadi wanted the same thing. The difference is, Ramadi wanted me to break your heart into pieces.

Abe stared at me for a moment before speaking. "Is she okay?"

"Yeah, she's fine" I replied. "I took care of the little incident if that's what you're worried about."

Abe rose one of his eyebrows. I guess he didn't know about the incident.

"Ramadi has went off grid. My men cannot locate him. He's planning something." Abe informed me.

He wasn't wrong. Ramadi was planning something and he was using me to get it done. Time to distract him from finding Ramadi.

"Have you not notice his men are constantly around her?" I asked.

By the look from Abe's face he didn't because it was a lie.

"Explain."

I sighed. "They look like shadows but there's a touch of magic lingering in the area. They're getting closer and my guess is they're waiting for Ramadi's signal."

"Figure out what he is planning. Do not let them get any closer." Abe ordered.

Abe had to get back to Lillian and warn Reid about this. Ramadi's plan couldn't go into action.

"I'm way a head of it." I told him. "They won't be coming back any time soon."

If they knew what was good for them, they wouldn't be. I couldn't have them constantly around me, making sure I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing, without Abe finding out what I was doing. Which was I used you as a cover up. I told him they were following you when really I was the one they were trailing.

"Keep your eyes open and keep me informed."

Abe disappeared into the thin air.

I stood there, thinking. If Ramadi went off grid and his men are getting closer, staying closer to me, then something big is going to happen. I knew this would happen but I just didn't know when.

But it wasn't about to happen. Ramadi had another thing coming. I walked through the treeline.

I needed to get in touch with Reid. We needed to find Ramadi before anything could happen. Before his day comes and we would be competely helpless.

I arrived to the block party way later than I planned to. Everyone else was dancing but not you. You were no where to be found.

I walked around until I spotted you, sitting on a tailgate, talking to a stranger. You were laughing. You were drunk and this guy had plans for you. Plans I wasn't going to let happen.

Before he could drag you away, I grabbed him and send a punch to his jaw. I didn't say anything to him. I picked you up, led you to my car and helped you in. I found the rest of the group. Shawn swore he was completely fine to drive to my house. I trust him. He didn't seem as drunk as the rest of you. He probably only had a beer or two.

After making sure I had everyone in one of the cars, I drove to my house that wasn't far away. Shawn drove with no problems whatsoever.

I helped you inside my house. You barely could walk. I took you to my room and sat you down on my bed. You tried to stand up but I held you down.

"Don't get up." I warned you. "I'll be back."

I left the room and walked to the kitchen. I filled a glass with water and returned.

"Drink this."

"But I don't want-"

"Drink it, Audrey." I said.

Sighing, you took the cup from me and took a sip of the unflavored drink. You moved it from your lips but I pushed it back to your mouth.

"Drink all of it." I told you.

You did. I took off your shoes. I got up and opened one of my dresser.

"Don't take this the wrong way." I said. "Lift up your arms."

You frowned. "Why?"

I sighed. "Just do it."

You lift up your arms and I quickly took off your shirt and replaced it with another one. I moved to the botton of your jeans and you moved my hands, stopping me.

"Relax. I'm not going to doing anything." I promised.

I waited until you remove your hand from mine to unbutton your jeans and slid them off.

I picked you up and threw back the covers before laying you down and covering you up. You wanted to sleep but you didn't close your eyes.

"Go to sleep, Audrey"

Hearing my words, your eyes closed and you were fast asleep. I left you and went to the spare room I had. Teri and Gina were on the bed, knocked out. Daire was on the couch, lying on her side. She wasn't asleep but she would be any second. I grabbed Teri's keys from the nightstand.

Shawn and Chris were in another room. Shawn looked up when he saw me.

"I'll make sure he doesn't throw up in here." Shawn said and I nodded.

I walked out the front door and transported myself back to the block party. It drained a lot of my energy. But at least this time, I didn't pass out.

Slowly my vision came back to me and I headed over to Teri's car. I unlocked the door and hopped in. I drove the car back to my place and parked it behind Chris'.

I locked the doors and walked inside and checked on everyone. Shawn was asleep this time and Chris was muttering about random things from cars to girls to beaches and so on.

You were the the last one I checked on. You lied peacefully in my bed and just as I was about to leave you spoke.

"My dream is to perform on a big stage and sing."

I didn't know what you were talking about but I knew it had to be important to you to dream about it.

I slept in the living room since everything else was taken. I woke from a creaking floorboard. I got up and I saw you trying to escape.

"What are you doing, Boo?" I asked in a tired voice.

You spun around and looked at me. You were confused so I grabbed your hand and led you to the kitchen. I handed you a pill and a drink.

"Where am I? What happened last night?" You asked.

"You're at my house and you got drunk."

You frowned. "I got drunk? I don't drink."

"Last night you did and so did everyone else."

You tried to remember but you couldn't. "What exactly happened?"

I shrugged. "I got there late but I saw you talking to this guy. He said something to you and you agreed. I had a bad feeling so I intervened."

You glanced down at my knuckles.

"What exactly did you do when you intervened?"

"He was trying to take advanage of you and I had something to say about that."

You rose an eyebrow. "Didn't know you care so much for me."

I grinned. "Someone has to."

You rolled your eyes. "Speaking of last night, you undressed me, didn't you?"

I was surprised.

"You're the first girl I met who doesn't want me to undress them and the first to try to sneak away from me."

"We all can't Daire."

I groaned. "Don't mention her."

"Why not?" You smiled.

"Like I said everyone decided to get drunk."

"You had to babysit us, didn't you?"

"It was hell. Especially Chris. He would not shut up."

You laugh and it was a pretty sound. "Aw poor Hayes."

"You weren't all perfect either." I told you.
"You talk in your sleep."

Your eyes widen. "Oh my gosh. What did I say?"

"Something about music, singing, stage and dream."

You sighed in relief.

"Care to explain."

You told me about your crazy dream of performing in front of a huge audience but it got shattered when you lost your family.

"You can still do it." I said.

"Who would want to come and see a nobody?" You asked. "Besides, I gave up on that dream a long time ago."

"It's called taking a risk." I told you, grinning. "And I'm going to help you."

You frowned in confusion. "How?"

"Four steps."

I took you to the beach once I learned you wanted to surf. I asked you why you were scared of the water and you said you weren't scared of the water but what was in it.

You didn't have to be scared because you controlled it. I couldn't tell you that. Not yet. So I took you surfing and I taught you what I knew.

Some where along the way of learning, you said you weren't losing this bet easily and I told you it wasn't a game. It wasn't. I needed to win in ordered to save them. Ramadi hasn't said anything yet but I knew he wanted his information soon rather than later.

After you got scared by a dolphin, you headed back to the shore as I laughed at you.

Later that week we went to the skating ring. It was Teen's Night and also the end of June. Two weeks of working for him without anyone noticing.

Daire wanted to skate with me but I wanted to skate with you so I left her and went to you. You didn't know how to move your hips properly so I helped you with it.

After the song ended, another came on and soon Teri took you away from me. I watched as you let loose and when you came back to me I said.

"I didn't know you like dance so much."

"There's a lot of things you don't about me."

I smirked. "Trust me, I plan to find out."

Fourth of July came and I was with Shawn when Ross, Teri's younger brother, told us to follow him. He wanted us to play this game for him.

I didn't know you were apart of this game. You and Teri got mad a Ross for bringing us to them.

"Should we do it?" Shawn asked.

I pretended to think about it before I grinned. "I think we should."

The crowd yelled for us as we paid and got our three balls. I stood in front of you and I could tell you knew exactly what I was going to do. I missed the first two times on purpose. I smirked at you before I threw the last one. It hits dead on and you fell into the cold water as you could scream.

As much as I wanted to see you wet, I couldn't. Shawn and I ran before you had the chance to come up for air.

Later that day, we headed to the beach and you wanted to pop a firecracker but Chris wouldn't let you. You talked him into it eventually and he let you explode one.

You lit your sparkler and I watched you have fun spinning around. You amused me.

Then the main event started. I stared at you as you looked at the night sky, waiting for the fireworks. You felt me looking at you.

"You're going to miss the fireworks if you keep looking at me."

"Good. I rather watch you. You're more beautiful."

That got your attention. You turned your head and my eyes darted down to your inviting pink lips and just as I was about to kiss you, the fireworks came.

I leaned back and faced the colorful night sky and you did the same.
