Chapter 8 - Rain of Humans
Alphys and I were sat down by the waterfall. Our legs hanging over the edge of the wooden platform. I found out that Alphys had actually built this in order to come and hypothesize things.
"So, I was online and I found a new anime!" Alphys said excitedly.
"Oooo" I said interested.
"What's this one about?"
"It's called 'Teng Tree Evolver! It's about this girl named Teng, and she has a secret power that only her best friend knows about then something unexpected happens and she evolves into a completely new form which has to do with trees, at least based off the description I read and it has really good reviews and apparently she falls in love with a guy who has the same powers but she neither of them want to say to the other one because they are unaware they share the same experiences and are worried about blowing their covers a-"
"Alphys." I cut in.
"You haven't breathed in like 30 seconds." I grinned.
"Oh yeah." She smiled, taking a breath.
"So are you actually going to pay for this anime?" I asked, giving her a mischievous smile. If you weren't aware she didn't exactly "buy" things, she basically hacked into the system and transferred it over to her computer. It's completely against the rules, wrong, deceiving, sneaky, and I love it!
"Undyne. There is no logic in buying something when I can get it for free. I can put that money towards something more worth while."
"That'd probably be noodles" I laughed.
"Hey!" She said slapping my arm.
"Well, probably" She started to laugh too.
Ring... Ring... Ring...
My phone was going off. Usually I ignore phone calls when with someone, especially Alphys, but it was Asgore. Something was up.
"Ugh, it's Asgore. One sec" I said standing up and answering the phone.
"What's up Asgore?" I asked.
"Undyne. Something has happened. It's another human."
"What!" I screeched! These humans were dropping down this mountain at a faster rate than ever! What concept don't they understand about monsters. Apparently it's gonna take more than a war and 3 disappearing humans for them to get the point. Whatever, another soul to be collected.
"These humans are coming faster than ever!" I exclaimed to Asgore. Alphys looked up at me with a puzzled look.
"Another human" I whispered, covering my phone so Asgore couldn't hear me.
"Well!" I said back to Asgore.
"Should we hold a meeting tonight?" It was pretty late, about 11. This was always the best time to go to the Waterfall. It's so serene.
"That's the thing, Undyne." He said.
"The human has already been captured." My jaw dropped.
"A human was running around the Underground and I didn't even know!" I blurted.
"None of us did, Undyne. We hadn't had any knowledge of this human until Dogamy and Dogaressa captured them." Wow! They finally did something besides making out 24/7.
"Well, did they get their soul or not?"
"Yes, of course. If they didn't they wouldn't be part of the Royal Guard." True. Wow, I was proud they captured the human, just upset at myself that I didn't even know there was a human in the first place.
"Nice. Another soul down. Three more to go." I grinned.
"Yes indeed, Undyne. It seems our dreams are becoming possible."
"We're closer than ever!" I replied, getting more excited. I realized we were more than half way there.
"U-Undyne. I just wanted to say, I am very proud of your progress. Ever since you were little you never stopped trying, never stopped using your determination. And now you are going to be the one to free us all, so thank you." Woah, that was really random. Gotta love the big weenie. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be where I am today.
"No problem, Asgore. And thanks too." I smiled. I clamped my phone shut and stuck it in my pocket.
"Well, we got another soul." I said sitting back down next to Alphys.
"Wow, so h-how many do you have now?" Alphys asked curiously.
"4. Only 3 left."
"W-Wow. This whole situation is becoming so surreal. Like it m-might actually happen." She whispered.
"Alphys!" I said throwing my arm around her like she were an old pal.
"It is going to happen." I replied confidently.
"I promise" I vowed. She smiled. I let go of my grip around her and look down at the falls. Excitement filling me from head to toe.
"I c-can't wait to see the surface a-again." Alphys said, getting quieter as she spoke.
"Yeah." I said quietly.
"Me too."
---
The next human fell two weeks later. I wasn't sure why. These humans were coming faster than Doggo went to a moving squirrel. There must have been something going on on the surface, that is causing all these humans to fall. But, what was it?
That's why, as I stood before the newest human, I decided to get to the bottom of it.
"Look, kid. I think we both know how this is gonna end." I said, trying to not be too intimidating.
The kid attacked me. We hadn't even encountered a fight yet! They lit a frying pain on fire and rammed it into my torso. I stumbled to the side, it felt as if it had wedged in between two of my ribs.
"Ow you little shit!" I yelled out. It took all my strength to not kill them right then and there. I pulled out the frying pan and threw it behind me. I stained the snow black. I threw a spear behind me so it pushed the pan into the ground and extinguished the fire.
"Look." I said, my voice low and menacing.
"Before we deal with this. I need to know something. 5 humans have all fell down Mt. Ebott in the last 5 months."
The kid's face softened, sorrow filling his eyes. I looked him right in the eye.
"W-well one, m-my friend S-S-Samn-ath-"
"Why!" I hissed, a flare starting in my eye.
"S-She had an a-abusive family, a-and didn't wa-want to l-live anymore." They said bowing their head.
"S-She always had perseverance. B-But I guess i-it wasn't enough. S-She g-got sad." He said, starting to weep. Damn, that ate me up inside. I had to keep telling myself she deserved to be killed down here, all humans are do.
"A-and C-Canada's leader w-was assassinated."
"Canada?" I asked, confused. I had never even heard of a word as strange as "Canada."
"It's a c-country. A p-place where there's a r-ruler. A b-bunch of p-people were devastated. It w-was reported s-some people were s-so sad th-they j-jumped down... d-down here."
"Who killed em'? I asked violently. How the hell could a monster get up there to kill someone?
"A-Another hu-human." Wait. What?
"Are you serious?"
"Y-Yeah. I-it happens a l-lot. P-people k-killing I m-m-mean." What the fuck is wrong with humans??
"What the hell?! You guys kill each other!? What kind of sick world is the surface? We would never, NEVER" I spat.
"Hurt each other. That's messed up. Asgore was right." I said, flames flaring inside me.
"You are all murderers." I whipped my head up and pulled out the kid's soul. I brought them into the air, smacked them down on the ground and slashed them with a spear. They turned to dust and a green heart appeared.
Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. How could they do that to each other? Us monsters are all for one and one for all. Humans make no sense. Whatever, not my problem to worry about. The important thing was we had six souls. One away.
I was walking to Asgore's castle, feeling victorious, when Sans suddenly came crashing into me, all the life gone from his eyes.
Authors Note: Hey guysss! Hope you enjoyed that chapter, sorry it was more on the short side. I had trouble trying to segwaying into soon to be something big. Hehe, no spoilers. But yeah, sorry for the cliff hanger, felt like being a cheeky xD Also, I know not all my info is accurate to the game, but I am changing stuff up a little bit, some of it is for a reason later to be shown in the book, and others I just thought would be better changed cuz it's fanfic :D Thanks for reading and have an awesomeee day/night/ and or weekend. :)
