"Hmm.." I whispered to myself as I tried to find something good in all this trash. Whenever I wasn't training or attending a Royal Guard meeting, you could most likely find me in the dumps, or hanging with Papyrus and Sans of course.

I dug through all the trash. It was kinda late. I felt a light breeze as I moved towards the waterfall. This is why I love this place so much. It's so calming, and awesome. Yeah, awesome is a broad way to put it, but seriously. Out of all the places in the Underground, the Waterfalls were the most serene. Not to mention all the good things people threw away.

I looked out above the Waterfall, it goes so deep. I always wondered where it went. While I was gazing at the waterfall I saw something out of the corner of my eye. It was shiny, possibly something worth my time. I walked over and saw a little more clearly. It looks like a sword. Yes! Score!! I grabbed the wooden end and began to pull. It was under a lot of trash, nothing a little muscle can't take care of. I pulled the sword out, and was awed by it's length. It had a gold stripe going down the middle. It was badass! I began to do some practice swings in the air, swiping and striking.

Then I heard a shuffle coming from behind a trash heap. I stopped messing around with my new sword and walked over to investigate.

"Hello?" I called out. I was expecting someone to call out back to me but no one did. I saw some footsteps and traced them until I was at two trash heaps that collided into one another, resembling a corner. Standing in the corner, was a girl. She was pretty short, and was sweating. She seemed to be scrambling, pretending she was doing something. It was pretty obvious. But hey, I'm always up to meet a new monster in the Underground.

"Hey" I said. She turned around and looked at me. She stood in a white lab coat, and wore glasses. It made for a very sciencey look. She looked startled by my voice.

"Uh, um, h-hello." She said, adjusting her glasses. I could tell she was feeling a little uncomfortable, which is why I made no hesitation to be the person to continue the conversation.

"Pretty nice night out in the dumps huh?" I asked. She smiled very shyly. However she was still fiddling with her glasses.

"Uh, uh yes. Y-yes, it is." She finally sputtered. I hated making her feel so nervous.

"I really love this place. Especially the waterfall. It's so cool and awesome, you know?"

"Y-yeah, I s-suppose. I, um, like t-to come here to think and h-hypothesize." She said. Wow, that's pretty neat actually. I admired her serenity. It is really a great place to just relax.

"Cool! I like to dig around and find cool stuff like this." I said. I pulled out my newly found sword. I smiled, trying to lighten the mood. She flinched when I pulled it out.

"Heh, that um, is, c-cool". I felt she was kinda scared by such a big sword. I put it back in my belt.

"So wanna go to the waterfall? Like I said it's really neat."

"S-sure." She said, a bit hesitant. I wasn't sure what was causing her so much anxiety, but I didn't think much of it.

We walked through the piles of trash and on to the little wooden dock just above the waterfall. We walked up and looked out. It's beautiful.

"Really pretty huh" I said playfully hitting her arm, gesturing out to the vast endless looking stream.

"Uh, um yeah, heh heh" She replied.

"I wonder how deep it goes." I said. Something I wondered everytime I was here.

"W-well there's lots of t-theories about how deep it g-goes. S-since we are underground it might be g-going down farther than we ever expect, maybe it somehow goes on forever, in some t-type of way we aren't capable of u-understanding, yet at least. Or it j-just ends in another cave, and all the trash is j-just accumulating down there." I was just starring at her, amazed.

"Oh, um s-sorry to talk, uh talk n-nerdy." She dipped her head a little, very embarrassed. I immiedieatly tried to show her it was fine, in fact cool.

"No don't be sorry! That was really neat the way you explained everything!" I beamed.

"Y-you thought all that nerdy stuff, w-was n-neat?" She asked, starting to make eye contact with me.

"Yeah! It was totally awesome! So, do you wanna go grab something to eat? I got nothing to do tonight, and maybe you could explain some more of that stuff to me." I offered. I worried she would get embarrassed and decline. Why? 1. Because she's pretty neat. 2. I didn't wanna make her feel uncomfortable. And to my surprise her face brightened up.

"R-really? T-that'd be nice." I smiled back and we started to head to Grillby's.

"So, I haven't even asked your name yet! How rude of me, here we are on a date and everything and I don't even know your name!" She blushed hard when I made the joke of being on a date. Awe come on, I use that joke all the time, it's a classic.

"Hey lighten up, it was a joke." I smiled. I guess it's kinda of a weird thing to say anyways.

"O-oh, Heh, hehe. A-And my name is A-Alphys." Alphys said.

"Alphys, huh? Cool! I'm Undyne, nice to meet ya!" I said as I stuck my hand out. She hesitantly shook my hand. Her grip was very loose and weak, compared to mine, I thought for a second I was gonna send her flying with my handshake.

"N-nice to meet you too, U-Undyne." Alphys smiled back at me.

"So Alphys, what do you do for a living?"

"I-I am the Royal s-scientist." Woah, a scientist. That's why she's so smart.

"Woah!! Your a scientist?? Wait, do you live in that big lab in the Hotlands?" Probably a stupid question, how many giant labs are there in the fricking Underground?

"Y-yeah, it's f-fun. What do y-you do?"

"It sounds cool, I just suck at science"  I laughed. I mean, it's true.

"But yeah I am Head of the Royal Guard, also why I spend time in the dumps finding awesome stuff like this." I pulled out the sword, showing off my new beauty. Being a little more cautious this time, trying not to make her nervous.

"Oh.. W-wow. You must be r-really strong a-and stuff." She said. Aw, that was such a nice compliment, especially sense it's very, very true. I take a lot of pride in my bad boy guns. 

"Jeez, thanks. Yeah, I train a lot. But what you do, is just as cool!" I said, she smiled a little.

"T-thanks."

"So what are som-" 

"Hey Undyne." I turned around to see Sans sitting in the stool behind me.

"What up dork?" Alphys giggled at me calling him dork. Don't know why, but hey, why not?

"Nothin' much. Just came to Grillby's on a break from my station."

"Yeah what's this, it's pretty late, so your tenth break?" I asked sarcastically. We all know Sans is the laziest person in the entire Underground.

"Hm. Let me see Undyne. Breakfast, Brunchfast, Brunch, Brunch 2, Lunch, Mid-Day Snack, Post-Mid Day Snack Snack, Dinner, now here. Nope, only 9 today." He grinned.

"Haha, dweeb."

"So, what are you doing here? You usually hate Snowdin, cause it's always cold. I mean the only time you ever come is to see Paps and me."

"Oh yeah, I came with Alphys. And I mean how many food places do you know of in the Underground? Our options are pretty limited."

"Who's Alphys?" He asked, kinda shocked to find out there was someone in the Underground he didn't already know. I backed up a little so Sans could see Alphys.

"Sans, Alphys, Alphys, Sans. Alphys is a scientist. Alphys Sans is a, uh, well he's a neat dude."

"H-hello." Alphys said, not looking directly at either of us.

"Hm, a scientist you say." Sans said as he combed his skull.

"Y'know, right now I'd say a science pun, but all of them argon." Then he did his classic wink. Ugh, kill me now.

"Sans." I said.

"Plus, I don't know how you'd react  to a chemistry pun." 

"Sans, stop. Your embarrassing yourself." 

"Nah, your just jealous because I have 11 protons, making me sodium awesome."

"I'm gonna punch you." Meanwhile Alphys was giggling. 

"Alphys found it funny." I looked over at her.

"Heh, I m-mean um..."

"And you did too, your smiling." Sans grinned.

"Damnit Sans! Ugh, I know." I grinned. Alphys grinned too, looked like she was more comfortable knowing I wasn't actually upset with Sans. Or thought his puns were stupid. Okay, well yeah they are stupid, but we are too, so it works.

"Well, nice to meet ya, Alphys, I'll see ya around. I gotta head back home to Paps." From there he hopped off his stool, walked out the door into the cold, and disappeared. Dang that's so badass, wish I could teleport.

"Uh, U-Undyne?" Alphys asked.

"Yeah?"

"S-Sorry to m-make you come out t-to Sn-Snowdin." 

"Nahhh, don't worry about it. I've gotten used to this little old town. I means Sans and Paps live here afterall. And if I get cold, watch this." I prepared to show her my super secret awesome way of heating up.

"Hey Grillby, will ya come here for a sec?" Alphys watched kind of confused. Grillby, a fire entity, walked over. I stood up and rubbed my hands over his burning fire head. 

"Thanks Grillby" I said as I "bro-slapped" his back. He rolled his eyes and walked away. Haha, gotta love that dude. Alphys laughed.

"S-Smart way to warm u-up" She laughed.

"Yeah, well I think so" I said laughing. 

"W-Well I g-got to go home. M-Mettaton is probably f-freaking out by now."

"Mettaton? I asked. Who the heck is Mettaton. How many people do I not know in this place? You'd think after being trapped down here for as long as we have been, I'd know all the people by now.

"O-Oh, he's a robot I b-built."

"Woah, seriously? A robot? That's freaking awesome!" Holy crap, this chick built a robot??

"T-Thanks." She smiled. 

"I should meet him sometime." Her eyes brightened when I said that.

"Y-yeah." She said back. 

"Alright, well nice meetin' ya, Alphys. Hope to see you around the Underground sometime!" 

"Y-You too, U-Undyne" Alphys said back. With those final words she got up, waved by and left. Wow, crazy night, not how I expected it to go. Pretty cool, and I finally figured out who lives in that lab. Alphys is pretty cool, hopefully I'll see her around soon.
