sixteen ; care

My lips are still attached to Kylo's forehead when I hear a loud whoosh and crash.

This is it, I think, closing my eyes. I feel the ground shudder.

But then, something confusing happens. I hear the crunch of footsteps in the snow.

"Are you incapable of walking?" I hear, in an extremely disgusted voice.

"HUX!" I cry, my head shooting up. I've never felt so overjoyed to see his stupid, stupid face.

"I fail to see why the pair of you haven't even left this place yet. You are aware that it is due to blow up at any moment now, aren't you?" His eyebrows are furrowed in the slightest bit of concern, surprisingly.

"He's bleeding out, and I twisted my knee really bad." Urgency is obvious in my tone. He stares for a few more seconds, before he finally rolls his eyes and turns around.

Three troopers approach us seconds later, two carrying a stretcher.

They kneel down and take Kylo out of my grasp, rolling him onto the stretcher, which scares me for a few seconds. Then there are hands under my armpits, and the third trooper is carrying me onto Hux's command ship like a child.

The door shuts as soon as we've all entered, and Hux shouts to his pilot to hurry from the atmosphere.

As soon as we're surrounded by the stars that I'd prayed to only minutes before, the planet explodes. Before I can turn to look, we've shifted into hyperspace.

"Where are we going?" I ask Hux, as soon as he appears from the front controls.

"We are planning to board the Finalizer. That will be your home, permanently." He informs. Just then, the ship shudders to a stop, and I can see us entering a ginormous super-ship through the window.

It looks almost the same as the StarKiller, without a snowy wasteland outside the landing base.

I look down at Kylo's face again.

He doesn't look good. At all.

I caress his cheek, hoping desperately that the door will open up soon. We may have escaped the explosion, but it doesn't help the fact that Kylo's close to death. He doesn't have much time.

"You need to let go of him so we can take the pair of you to the infirmary." Hux commands. I hesitantly retract my hand.

The pair of storm troopers from before pick up his stretcher again, and I'm carried closely behind him.

We're taken off the ship, catching dozens of stares as we're taken there.

"He's in critical condition." A medical droid says immediately after scanning Kylo when we walk by. The trooper places me in a wheelchair. Ky's put onto a bed and rolled into a room, several doctors and nurses rushing after him.

I watch helplessly with tears in my eyes.

What if he dies in there?

"Excuse me? Ms. Ghana?" The same droid asks.

"Yes, yes, I'm here." I spit out, flustered.

"We know you're here, dear. We wanted to say that you've torn your ACL and you're due for surgery." A nurse interrupts. I'm about to agree when I hear shouting from Kylo's room.

"He's lost too much blood. He needs a transfusion!"

"Doctor, there's not a single soul on this ship with type AO6 blood!"

The words strike me funny. Where have I heard type AO6 before?

"Ma'am? Ma'am!" The nurse waves her hand in my face.

"What?" I yell, frustrated.

"I need you to answer me."

"May I ask you a question first?"

"Surely." The woman says, confused. I cross my arms and look at the floor.

"What blood type am I?" The nurse looks to the droid, who quickly scans me a second time.

"Malzenla Borealis Ghana. Blood Type: AO6." The droid says mechanically. The nurse's eyes widen, having also heard the conversation in the other room.

"I need to give it to him." I demand.

"Ma'am, are you sure? He needs a lot of blood." She emphasizes. There's no other choice in my mind.

"Please." I beg. She nods slowly, turning towards the room.

"Doctor! I believe we have a type AO6 right here." She calls, raising my arm. A doctor's head pokes out the door.

"You're sure?"

"Yes." I answer.

Instead of taking me into a surgery room, they take me into one where they can suck the blood from my body quickly. I feel more frantic than they act; they're so calm. Too calm.

I watch them slide the large needle into my arm, but I don't feel a thing. All I can feel is the throbbing of my knee and the hammering of my heart in my chest.

My own blood trickles into a bag of there's, and I can feel myself growing slightly weaker. They were right. This is a lot of blood.

Suddenly, they're finished.

"We can't promise anything Ms. Ghana, but he may make it. Because of you." The nurse smiles slightly. She shuffles out of the room, the bag clutched loosely in her hand.

I hope she's right.

I think my heart would be shattered for good without him.
