forty four ; new
(this chapter will be short, as i don't feel the need to elaborate on certain events)
8 months, 3 weeks, 4 days.
It's how long I've been pregnant.
It's upcoming, soon, and completely unpredictable. It won't be long now, and I'm terrified.
4 days.
That's how many days it's been since I told Ky-Ben to wait for my forgiveness.
I'd visited him for hours at a time every day since.
And, he'd been released on close watch from the Medical Unit.
Now that he's let go of the darkness, he has nothing to hide or hold back. He is everything in a man that I could've dreamed him to be.
I think I'm falling in love with him all over again.
I'm waiting for him now, in a meadow not far from behind my cottage. I pick at the grass to entertain myself, refraining from harming the petals on the little flowers. They're so beautiful.
My eyes glaze over and I hear footsteps behind me. It's him. It has to be.
I find my intuition to be correct as Ben settles himself down beside, giving me a smile that meets his eyes. I feel warm inside, my cheeks heating up.
"I convinced my mother to let me have something other than Med food." He breaks the comfortable silence.
"Right now, I think you could convince your mother of anything." I admit, shrugging. He raises his eyebrows.
"Do you think it'll be soon?" He asks, touching my swollen stomach.
"Of course, laser brains. I'm almost at 9 months." I tease. He laughs, lightly hitting my forearm. I go to catch myself when I feel something strange, and the smile drops from my face.
I bite my lip, my eyes slightly watering from the pain. I grab Ben's arm.
"B-Ben, they're coming."

The Med Unit at the Resistance Base is so much better than the one belonging to the first order.
I couldn't have imagined going through this in a sterile white room, as opposed to the comfort of these sheets with the sunshine streaming in, or feeling Kylo Ren's gloved hand over mine, as opposed to Ben Solo's bare, calloused fingers.
They let Leia in when it's all finished, and the babies are safe in our arms.
Yes, babies.
As it turns out, all the hints I'd been given but stupidly never understood, were true. Twins do run in the family.
Leia's eyes immediately soften as they land on our baby girl in Ben's arms. I kindly ask Leia if she wants to hold our little boy, who's safe in my own arms. She happily obliges, reaching forward happily.
The moments perfect; well, almost. I can see in Leia's eyes that she's thinking about Han. But she won't say a word, she doesn't want to hurt Ben. She never wants him to feel out of place again.
I hope these two precious, innocent creatures never have to go through something like he did.
I glance over at Ben, who's eyes are already on me, and I yawn. I'm so tired. But there's something I must do, before I can rest. I think he senses this.
"Mom, could you give us a minute?" He asks quietly.
"Of course." She agrees, standing up and gently setting our baby boy back in my arms. As soon as she's out of the room, I say the words I've wanted to say urgently for a few days now.
"I've made my decision." I breath.
"Have you now?" He smirks, earning an immediate eye roll.
"Do you want to hear it or not?" I smirk back, biting my lip after a few seconds of silence.
"Of course I do." He answers in a quieter tone.
"Come here." I beckon him, my recent smirk making a reappearance.
"What? Why?" He furrows his eyebrows, scooting towards me as I'd asked, nonetheless.
I stare into his eyes for seconds, that seem to last so much longer than that. Weeks, months, maybe years.
Then I touch his cheek with my freehand and tenderly lean forward. I press my lips to his, and I can feel his immediate grin.
We're interrupted by a little yawn emanating from one of the babies, and we break apart, laughing. I admire the way Ben's eyes are shining and my heart swells.
We beckon Leia to come back, and she's followed by a few extra people, including Phet, Gia, and even Poe.
Leia takes the baby girl this time, and Poe takes the boy, and I finally feel at home, surrounded by all of them. I have a family. The only thing in the whole Galaxy I'd ever desired since my orphaned childhood.
"You haven't told us yet, what have you named them?" Leia asks, a warm grin adorning her face. I glance at Ben, as if giving him the 'go ahead' gesture.
"Amora Jane and August Han Solo."
