Chapter 6

A/N: you guys know that I usually have no problem making Killian a total asshat sometimes.  usually but Kassidy is my baby and I actually feel bad for how mean he is to her at first in this book.
😂 anyways.. Enjoy guys

**I hate this chapter lmao. I wrote it, and I HATE IT. Here ya go xD**

Kassidy and Killian stared at each other in silence for a few moments before Kassidy finally spoke up.
"I'm sorry its late, but I hear you've been looking for me..I'm Kassidy..Kassidy Cole" She said nervously and tucked her blonde curls behind her ears.

Truthfully, Killian hadn't been looking for her, but for her killer, so while he was becoming suspicious about whether or not she was alive, her showing up at his doorstep was not something he was prepared for in the slightest and because he knew exactly what he was dealing with now he had to think quickly.

"A lot of people have been looking for you.." He replied. "For a year."
"I..know..Can I come in? Please?" Kassidy asked.

Killian stepped aside and gestured for her to come in. Kassidy stepped in and looked around.
"It's just how I remember it." She said with confusion heavy in her tone.
"What do you mean?" Killian asked. "You've never been here before."
"I have, but it was a dream, I think. You were.." Kassidy stopped short. "You weren't here." She lied figuring it wasn't best  to start out with 'I took a shower with you, you just don't know it.'

"I'm sorry, where are my manners? would you like some tea? You must have quite a tale to tell." Killian offered
"Oh.. sure." Kassidy replied and shrugged and sat down at his kitchen table.
"I don't believe I've introduced myself." Killian sad as he walked to the kitchen.
"You're Killian Jones." Kassidy said.
"How did you know?" Killian asked.
"Because you told me, I heard your voice." Kassidy replied as if it was completely normal.

Killian slowly opened a drawer in his kitchen and took out a small vile, and a syringe. He kept little things like this for protection all over his house as his many years of hunting had brought him many enemies. He filled the syringe and slowly walked over behind Kassidy.

"I know this sounds crazy but I think you are supposed to he-" Kassidy was cut off by Killian's hand clasping around her mouth to prevent her from screaming, he did not want to explain that to his nosy neighbors. He stuck the sedative in Kassidy's neck and she struggled against him. Her fangs sunk into the palm of his hand.
"Ah! Bloody hell!" He growled and pulled his hand away.
"..I..I don't understand.. Why?" Kassidy slurred, her drowsy gray eyes full of betrayal as she crumpled to the floor.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Kassidy groaned at the dull ache in her head as she opened her eyes. She blinked a couple of times until her vision was clear and Killian's blue eyes were the first thing she saw.

"What happened?" She asked.

"You knocked on my door, I opened it, I let you in and then I sedated you." Killian shrugged as if it was a completely normal thing to do.

"I don't understand" Kassidy frowned and tried to move but winced at the burning pain in her wrists.

She looked down, she was bound to a chair with silver chains around her wrists and then panic set in and she tried to pull against the chains but it only burned more.

"The more you struggle the more it hurts." Killian said

"Why?" Kassidy asked. "I..I thought you would help me. You..told me you wouldn't hurt me." Kassidy said the sting of betrayal in her tone.

"I don't help your kind. I hunt and kill your kind." Killian spat and took a pull from a bottle of rum before setting it back down on the counter and approaching Kassidy. Kassidy looked at his bandaged hand remembering before she went down, she had bit him.

"Feeling guilty?" Killian asked.
"No. Actually, You attacked me! What did you expect me to do?!" Kassidy demanded. "Just let me go! I haven't done anything, besides its illegal to kill vampires."

"Its only illegal if I'm caught." Killian smirked. Kassidy looked into his blue eyes and saw nothing but agony. This was more than just a rogue hunter just getting his fix. This was a personal vendetta and she was caught right in the middle of it.
"Open your mouth." He said.
"..Why?" Kassidy asked.
"Because I need to see your teeth. I would have done it when you were out, but you had already retracted your fangs" Killian said.
"Why should I do anything you want? You're only going to kill me!" Kassidy spat and then cringed as Killian put his hand on her throat. His silver rings burned her skin.

"Because, I have years of knowledge and experience in just how long I can hurt you without killing you. So I can make this incredibly painful, or you can make this easy."

Kassidy nodded and Killian let go of her throat. Kassidy opened her mouth and extended her fangs. Killian went to get a closer look but stopped short.

"Bite me, and I'll rip your fangs out." He warned. Kassidy just rolled her eyes as he examined her fangs briefly before pulling away.
"See any cavities doc?" Kassidy snarked.
"How long ago where you turned?" Killian asked.
"A year ago.." Kassidy answered.
Killian looked like he was thinking a bit.
"Vampire fangs are usually riddled with human flesh and since Baby vamps, like yourself are harder to control, I figured you'd have torn into a few people for a late night snack."
"First off, I'm not a baby. I'm 19. Secondly, I told you I didn't do anything, You are delusional, I'm sorry for whatever happened to you to make you think that all vampires are evil but you're wrong." Kassidy said.
"Where have you been for a whole year?" Killian asked.

Kassidy didn't know why but her instincts were telling her to leave James out of this. As much as she hated him for everything, she felt an attachment to him that she couldn't shake perhaps if Killian was going to help her like her dreams lead her to believe it would be a different story. But honestly she was scared and wishing she hadnt left home because anything James could have done was better than the hurt she was feeling now.

"I..don't know." Kassidy lied. "I've been stuck in a room about the size of your kitchen with no windows and only one way out and it was locked."
"You don't show any signs of starvation." Killian said skeptically.
"I was fed, they slipped bags of blood through the door. Tonight.. I don't know what they were planning but they unlocked the door and that's how I got out I just ran, I didn't look at where I was, I just ran."

"So I'm supposed to believe that not only do you not know where you were, you don't know who turned you. You realize whoever turned you is likely who killed your father. You..do know your father was murdered right?"
"Yes. I know.. I saw his body before I was dragged away.." Kassidy said "And I don't care what you believe..I came to you because you spoke to me in my dreams. I've felt a connection with you since I saw you in the park with Graham and I thought..you would help me."

"I thought you were dead." Killian shrugged. "Guess we were both wrong." Turning to Kassidy watching a tear roll down her cheek. He sighed heavily and turned away from her hating that it hurt him to see her cry, whatever this connection was, whatever she did to cause it, he'd have to find a way to fix it and he couldn't do that with her here. He couldn't just kill her even if he wanted to, if just seeing her cry pained him, killing her, would probably kill him too.

"Please.. Just let me go." Kassidy said. "I won't bother you again..I won't hurt anyone.."

"Bloody hell.." Killian grumbled and turned back to her unlocking her chains.
"Whatever connection you think we have, we don't. Got it?" He asked.
Kassidy looked down at the floor and nodded.
"I'm only letting you go because there's more to what you are telling me, and I'm going to find it out..people keep getting murdered, or going missing in this town and I'm going to stop it, so I'll be seeing you again."

Kassidy caught him off guard by grabbing his throat and shoving him backwards. He ht the wall, and then the floor.
"If you so much as look at me again, I will become the monster you think I am." she spat and walked around him to his counter and picked up her cellphone.
"That is police evidence!" Killian barked.
"Its. Mine." Kassidy said and walked out of the apartment.

The second she shut the door the first wave of tears hit her. She thought he was going to save her from James, that he would help her. She had no idea that he was going to be so hateful, and it hurt. She ran out of the apartment complex. If Killian, was this way.. There was no telling what her friends, and people she thought were family when she was human would think of her now.  So she ran back to the only place she knew as home now as much as she hated it, where else would she go?

When she arrived on the doorstep she heard James and Jack yelling and fighting with each other. She opened the door and walked inside.
"If you weren't so God damn mean to her all the time she wouldn't have left James!" Jack yelled. "This is your fault!"
"No. Its hers! I gave her a new life. A better one, and shes so ungrateful she can't see it! If she wants to leave, fine. Those humans will chew her up and spit her out because they don't understand and they never will, no matter how many laws they make."  James growled.

Kassidy walked into the kitchen where they were fighting. Jack stopped and looked at her.
"Kassi.." She said. James turned around, his eyes were black with rage and he went to yell, but Kassidy threw her arms around him sobbing.
"I'm sorry. I'll never do it again." She bawled into his shirt. James' eyes returned to their normal color as her sudden affection brought out the humanity in him.

"I'll stay. I won't go.." Kassidy sniffled. He held onto the back of her head holding her close.
"Its okay.." He said softly. "You're home now."
"You aren't mad?" Kassidy asked pulling away from him, his features were softer and she was reminded of David.
"I was..but I'm not anymore.." He said and took her wrists in his hands looking at the burns from the silver.
"Who hurt you princess?" He asked.
"It doesn't matter anymore.. You were right. I'm more safe here." She said.

---------------------------------------------------

Killian walked into the station the next morning, hungover and looking like hell. He couldn't get Kassidy off his brain, he hadn't even slept and he knew that he made a mistake letting her go without getting the answers he needed and perhaps she might have told him had he not sedated her and chained her to a chair,  and he knew that David needed to know. Something wasn't adding up about Kassidy's story and if anyone could help, it was David.
"You look like shit.." Graham muttered. "Christ, David is going to have a barn when he sees you."
"Is he in?" Killian asked.
"In his office." Graham muttered. "You okay, Killian?" Graham asked. Killian ignored him and walked into Davids office. David was in a meeting.
"Jones, what is your problem?" David asked standing up. "You can't just barge in here like this, Are you drunk?!"
"Hungover, actually.. And there's something I need to tell you."
"It can wait, I'm in a meeting." David sighed.
"Its about Kassidy." Killian said.
"Just a moment." David said excusing himself from the meeting and walked out of the office shutting the door.
"What is it?" David asked.
"She's alive." Killian replied.
