Nine: Busted
Amaya's POV
"Hey, Nemesis-kun. I just got your message. Sorry I didn't reply. The teacher held me back after class to review what I've missed. Anyway, call me back." I said as I left him a voicemail.
I put my phone away, then entered the house. "I'm home!" I called as I took off my shoes. "It's about time!" Yan-kun called from the living room.
"I'm sorry. I didn't think the professor would keep me back this long." I apologized. "What some dinner? I made pasta." Ayano said.
"Sure." I said. She fixed me a plate and set it down at the table. I took a seat and began to dig in. "Yan-kun told me that you got a message from your secret Senpai today." Ayano mentioned.
"Oh, he did, did he?" I asked, glancing at Yan-kun. "Tell us who he is! We've found you out, Amaya!" Yan-kun yelled as he stood up while slamming his hands on the table.
"Is this an interrogation now?" I asked, bluntly as a noddle stuck out of my mouth. I sucked it into my mouth, then took a sip of my water.
"No, Yan-kun's just taking it a bit over the top," Ayano said before slapping him upside his head. "Are you afraid that we won't accept him?"
"Kind of. Mostly, because you guys don't know him." I admitted. Or do they? "Well, whoever he is, I'm sure we'll like him. Right, Yan-kun?" Ayano said.
He was squinting his eyes at me with a frown, as if trying to read me. "Right..." He said, hesitantly. "Is it Osano?"
"No." I answered. "Is it Kizano?"
"Who?"
"Kizana's twin brother."
"Nope."
"Hayato?"
"Nope."
"Sora?"
"Nope."
"Study-kun A?"
"Who is that again?"
"He's that really tall guy who's always in the library."
"Oh... Nope."
"Is it Haruto?"
"Who's that?"
"I'll take that as a no. Tell me already! You'll have to confess eventually!"
"Uh-huh," I stood up from the table when I was finished easting my pasta, then washed my dish. "Yan-kun, why don't you let this go until I'm ready to tell you?" I suggested.
"Never!" He yelled, making Ayano sigh. "Needless to say, he's persistent on knowing who your secret Senpai is." She said. "Yeah, I caught that." I mumbled.
Later that night, I was in room, working on my homework near my desk. I was halfway finished until I heard a tapping sound near my window.
I looked over and spotted Nemesis-kun there, so I went over to the window and opened it, letting him in. "Hey," He greeted. "I got your message before I came up here."
"Yeah, I'm sorry for not calling you back sooner." I apologized as I went back over to my desk to finish my homework. "Don't worry about it," He said. "Hey, I remember this."
"Huh?"
I turned around in my chair and found him holding my old doll. "Oh, yeah. Mr. Ningyo." I said, staring at it. "You remember?" Nemesis-kun asked as he looked at me.
"Of course I do. You gave him to me when those kids were picking on me at the playground." I explained. I got up from my chair and approached him before taking the doll out of his hands.
I smiled down at it as I remembered my childhood memories with Nemesis-kun. "I would've thought you got rid of him." Nemesis-kun mentioned.
"Are you kidding?" I asked, looking at him. "I would never get rid of Mr. Ningyo. I love him. Just like how I love you."
I smiled at him and Nemesis-kun smiled back at me.
"You know, you kept me waiting all day to hear from you, Amaya. I almost thought you forgot about me." Nemesis-kun said as he set the doll down on my bed.
"I said, I was sorry." I reminded him. "Are you saying you don't forgive me?"
"Hmm... Nope." He said, teasingly. "Oh, come on. There's no way to get you to forgive me?" I whined.
"Maybe there is a way. Make it worth my while." Nemesis-kun said with a smirk. He grabbed my hips and pulled me closer, then pressed his lips against mine.
I kissed him back while closing my eyes.
But they didn't stay close for long as they snapped open when I heard my door open. I broke the kiss and quickly turned around to find Yan-kun standing near the doorway.
Yan-kun blinked before yelling at the top of his lungs. "Uh-oh." I mumbled. "What the hell?! Who is this guy?! What's he doing here?!" He screamed while pointing at Nemesis-kun.
"Was that the reaction you were expecting?" Nemesis-kun asked. "Not exactly," I replied. "I was expecting him to be more... confused than angry."
"You better start explaining, Amaya!" Yan-kun yelled. "I would if you'd stop yelling." I stated. "What's the problem?" Ayano asked as she walked out from behind Yan-kun.
'This day just keeps getting better and better.' I thought sarcastically. "Who's this?" Ayano asked me.
"In a few seconds, he's about to be a dead man!" Yan-kun said as he cracked his knuckles. "Let me explain before you beat him to death." I said, protecting Nemesis-kun.
"Let's hear her out, Yan-kun." Ayano said, calmly. I took a breath, then spoke. "Yan-kun, Ayano. This is Nemesis-kun, my long-lost childhood friend." I introduced.
"Your long-lost friend?" Yan-kun repeated. "He looks familiar." Ayano mentioned. "He should. He was the one who was hunting us down during the Mission Mode timeline, remember?" I said.
"This is the guy?!" Yan-kun yelled. He went to lunge at Nemesis-kun until Ayano held him back. I helped by pushing against his chest so he wouldn't get close to Nemesis-kun.
"Cut it out, Yan-kun! He's good now!" I explained. "Like hell he is! He nearly killed you!" He objected. "He was just following orders! Give him a break!" I said.
"Amaya, is this the guy you're dating? Is he your Senpai?" Ayano asked. "Yes," I answered. "Look, I know he did some terrible things to us in the past, but just give him a chance."
"No way! I mean, are you out of your goddamn mind?! I can't believe you're going out with the guy who tried to kill you!" Yan-kun yelled.
"That's enough. If Amaya truly loves him, why should we keep her from being happy?" Ayano said. Yan-kun stopped to think before looking at Nemesis-kun.
"Do you really love my sister... Nemesis, was it?" Yan-kun asked. "More than anything. I would never do anything to harm Amaya." Nemesis-kun said.
"So, if I were to kill you where you stand, would you still love Amaya?" Ayano asked. "Of course." He replied. "Good enough for me." Ayano said before quickly leaving the room.
I raised a brow as she left because I was not expecting her to take it that well. Yan-kun looked at Nemesis-kun.
"All right, listen here, buddy. I'm gonna give you one chance. If you do anything to break my sister's heart, I'll kill you myself. You got that?" He threatened.
"You won't get any trouble from me, Yan-kun. I promise I won't do anything to harm your sister, Yan-kun. Amaya means the world to me." Nemesis-kun said.
"Don't address me like we're friends." He said, bitterly. "You said you'd give him a chance, Yan-kun! So, be nice!" Ayano called.
"Shut up and text your boyfriend!" He called back before turning back to Nemesis-kun. "Actually, getting a better look at him now, he's pretty cute."
Nemesis-kun blushed as my eyebrow twitched. "He's really good-looking, too," Yan-kun added. "I don't know why you didn't introduce him to us sooner, Amaya."
"Cut it out, Yan-kun. This is starting to get uncomfortable." I said with a small frown. "Okay, okay. I'll back off," He said, putting his hands up in surrender. "What's this?"
"My doll. Nemesis-kun gave it to me when I was a kid." I answered. "This ugly old thing? You told me you got it from a thrift store." Yan-kun replied.
"Well, obviously, that was a lie."
"Oh, now I get it. You guys were a thing even before you started growing up."
"No, I just thought I'd be nice and cheer up Amaya. She looked pretty sad when I found her in the playground." Nemesis-kun defended.
"Aren't you sweet? Amaya, do you mind if I borrow him in case things don't go so well between me and Senpai?" Yan-kun teased.
I frowned. "Back off. He's mine." I said, hugging Nemesis-kun's arm.
