Eight: Sorcery
I missed the first session of class as it was lunchtime. "Hey, how are you feeling?" Yan-kun asked. "I'm feeling much better." I said.
"Good. Ready for lunch?"
"Sure, I'm starving."
"All right, let's go."
I followed Yan-kun down the hall until I got a text message from Nemesis-kun.
"Meet me in the garden maze."
I stared at the message in confusion, wondering why he wanted to see me. "Is that from your secret Senpai?" Yan-kun asked from behind me as he was leaning over my shoulder to see the message.
"None of your business. I've gotta go." I said, hogging my phone to my chest. "I'm gonna find out who it is eventually, Amaya." He mentioned.
"We'll see about that." I challenged. I waved to him before heading off to the garden maze. Once I got there, I looked around.
"Nemesis-kun? Are you here?" I called. "Over here." He replied, waving over to me. I smiled and ran over to him.
"What's up?" I asked. "Do you find me stupid, Amaya?" Nemesis-kun asked.
"Of course not. Why do you ask?"
"I saw what happened between you and the delinquents."
"Oh... You saw that?"
"What were thinking? You could've gotten yourself comatose. Or worse."
"I already received a lecture from my brother and sister. I don't need another one."
"I had a feeling they did. But I've got some good news. The guy who beat you up won't be picking fights with you anymore."
I raised a brow in confusion. "Nemesis-kun, what did you do?" I asked. "Oh, I just taught him a lesson," He said. "Or, to be blunt, I broke his arm."
"You did what?!" I shouted. "Nemesis-kun! How could you do that? I mean, that's really sweet of you, but how could you dot that?"
"I don't think you really need to ask why, Amaya. That guy had it coming." He said. "But what if someone saw you? What if he tells the headmaster?! Or what if he-!"
"He won't tell anyone. I made sure of that." Nemesis-kun interrupted me. "Nemesis-kun, you didn't have to do that. Osorõ already made him apologize earlier," I informed.
"And when did all this happen, anyway? When you broke Umeji's arm, I mean?"
"While you were in the infirmary. I saw him walk out of the school, so I took the opportunity to "talk" with him." He answered.
'So, it must've been after Osorõ made him apologize.' I thought. Nemesis-kun took my chin and gently kissed my forehead.
"I don't ever wanna see you get hurt, so please don't do something like that again."
I smiled, then hugged him. "I won't do it again. I promise. I'm sorry I made you worry." I said, softly. Nemesis-kun hugged me back while resting his chin on my head.
"I love you." He whispered. "I love you, too." I said back. I looked up at him and gently pecked his lips.
Nemesis-kun smiled and kissed me while holding me close. I kissed him back, my arms wrapping around his neck.

The day ended quickly for me, probably because I missed the first half of class. Except, I had to stay after with the professor so she could review with me what I've missed.
By the time she was finished, it had already gotten late as the sky was turning orange. After packing up my things, I headed towards the exit.
As I was passing club rooms, I noticed the doors of the Occult Club were closed with a sign on the door that said, "Do Not Enter".
My curiosity got the best of me, as usual, so I came to a stop. 'That's weird. Why hang a sign on the door if Occult Club activities are over?' I thought in confusion.
I went over to the door and gave it a small tug as the door was opened. I peered inside the room and my eyes widened in shock when I saw Oko levitating in the air.
His legs were crossed in a meditating position as lit candles surrounded him with his cloak flapping behind him. His eyes had turned completely white while an occult book laid open as it floated between his hands.
"Whoa..." I mumbled in amazement. Oko's head turned in my direction and he gasped when he spotted me, his white eyes quickly fading.
Oko fell to the floor as the candles blew out with the book falling and landing in front of him. "A-Amaya! W-What are y-y-you doing here?!" He asked, nervously.
"You really do know black magic." I stated while closing the door behind me. "No, I don't!" Oko quickly denied as he stood to his feet. "I have no idea what you're talking about!"
"Don't play dumb with me. I know what I saw." I said. Oko sighed in defeat before standing to his feet. "O-Okay... You've caught me. I... do know black magic." He confessed.
"But you can't tell anyone about this! Promise me you won't! Not even my sister knows!"
"Wait, Oka doesn't know of this?" I repeated. "No, and she can never know! Please promise me you won't tell anyone!" Oko pleaded.
"Why not? Isn't the Occult Club supposed to discover the supernatural and paranormal?" I asked.
"Yes, but... You see, Oka was never able to handle things like these! She's dedicated her life to proving that there are such things as the paranormal and the supernatural! If she found out I had these powers, she'd be convinced that I'm a demon and kick me out of the club for being too scary! I don't want that to happen!" Oko explained.
"Oh, come on. What's so scary about having a few mystical powers? As long as you don't use black magic to harm anyone, it'll be okay."
"But... I..." Oko trailed off before hesitantly raising his hand so his palm was facing up. When he did, some type of black of some sort appeared in his hand as it seemed to be sparkling a bit.
"Wow..." I said in awe. "These powers of mine... I haven't had them for that long, so I'm still trying to get used to them. I'm still learning how to use them." Oko explained.
"How did you get these powers, anyway?" I asked. "I-It's... a long story." He said, shyly. "Amaya, please don't tell anyone! I'm begging you!"
"You can relax, Oko. I won't tell anyone. Your secret's safe with me." I assured him. "R-Really? Y-You really... won't tell anyone?" He asked.
"You have my word," I vowed. "Besides, it's not like anyone will believe me, anyway. I know for a fact my siblings wouldn't believe me if I told them. Trust me. You have nothing to worry about."
Oko blushed slightly a he stared at me. "T-Thank you..." He said, quietly. I gave a small smile before leaving the room.
Nemesis-kun's POV
I texted Amaya about three times, and she wasn't answering. "What is she up to?" I mumbled. I tried calling her and her phone went straight to voicemail.
"Amaya, it's me. Give me a call when you get this, okay? I'm worried about you." I said into the phone.
After leaving her the message, I put my phone away, then headed inside the school to look for her. One of the doors to the Occult Club was open, so I peered inside.
I spotted Amaya speaking with Oko, but I couldn't hear what they were talking about. What I did notice was that Oko was blushing at Amaya.
Immediately, I knew he had a crush on her. He's always had a crush on her. This is a problem.
Osano still has feelings for her, and even Hanakõ, Osorõ, and Oko. All of them will get in my way, and she'll eventually fall for one of them.
I can't let that happen, so there's only one thing I can do...
