From the moment Eira had laid eyes on her little boy, she had realised if true love existed in this world, this was it.
He was tiny and timid, so shy and so calm.
"Um'-" He whispered to her and she looked down at her boy.
"Yes baby?" She murmured down at him.
"You want me to pick you up?" She asked him, knowing that he was afraid of crowds.
The little boy nodded, asking to be held up.
They were at a charity event today, an event arranged by her husband.
Faris came over towards his family and took Hani from Eira's arms, he kissed his cheek and then guided Eira to the front table.
Hani sat comfortably on his father's lap and Eira? She was too busy smiling at them.
They looked beautiful together.
That was true love. A love between a father and his son, a mother and her daughter, love between siblings.
That's true love.
Four years.
Four years is a very long time. Time heals all the wounds, atleast from the outside. Time is what changes everything.
And for Eira, she was lucky time did her well.
A psychologist, a mother, a wife. Life hadn't been so unkind to her after that incident.
But it had done her one damage, She didn't believe she could love someone the way she had loved him, she was too scared, too worried, too afraid. But she loved Faris, more than anything but every single day she also was mentally prepared to be heartbroken if something ever went wrong.
It was her paranoia obviously, Faris would never hurt her.
In the past four years, Eira had completed her degree after coming back to Dubai, had tried to make her family proud after making them go through utter humiliation.
She had met Faris the same way. He wasn't from her ethnicity, wasn't the same race as her.
But he was a nice man, with a good heart. He had courage and he was kind.
Faris had lost his wife and being an Emirati man, he had his family's pressure to get married again. Other than that, he had a little baby too, just a few months old.
Eira hadn't agreed at first, How could she? She had stopped believing in marriage.
Eira couldn't marry someone after going through the trauma that she had gone through. But Faris was traumatised enough too..He had also been the victim of life's unjust ways and thus, Eira decided..maybe if they both tied the knot, they might fix each other.
And they did.
And so it felt right, to get married to a respectful man, live a good life and have no expectations attached to her. To get healed and to start a life, with or without love..she didn't know.
Her and Faris became good friends at the start. They got to know each other, they tried to heal each other, And that's what mattered.
They loved each other, they would do anything for each other and they were happy. Together.
Some times, it occured to Eira that she might even be in love with him more than her first love. She believed it was right too, she had lost her purity to this man, she had taken shelter in his arms, she had made a safe haven in his intimacy..so maybe, she loved him more than she thought she was capable of.
And it was okay, it was okay to love him because he was her husband, he had held her hand, he hadn't left her.
He had made her happy, had made her family happy, had given her everything she wanted and more. He had been courageous enough to hold her hand with pride.
He hadn't backed out at the last minute.
He was perfect..and more over, he was hers.
"You're lost in thoughts," Faris commented, looking at Eira intensely. She shook her head.
"I'm just admiring how beautiful you both look together." She told him truthfully and he smiled.
"It's all because of this little man,." He replied modestly.
"You're not so bad yourself." She shot back with a teasing smile.
"I know," He smirked.
Eira didn't say anything after that, she just focused all her attention on Hani.
He was the center of her world after all.
After the charity gala ended, the whole family went back home..with nothing but contentment in their hearts.
The next day, even before Eira and Hani had woken up, Faris left for his work. Eira didn't complain though, he was a busy man.
She spent the whole day with Hani and booked a few appointments. She didn't need an assistant. She only worked on Wednesdays and attended five to seven patients in the whole day.
She just wanted to heal someone, the amount didn't matter.
She had a small cozy place in the back of her house and that's where she took the sessions.
Anyway, she spend the whole day giggling and laughing with Hani. It passed by in a blur, she didn't care. It was pleasant.
Eira sat in her bedroom late in the evening, with Hani lying on her lap.
Ge was half drowsy, about to sleep when Faris entered the room. He had his traditional Emirati dress on today, a Taub and a the white chugha.
His scent spread through out the room. He had a strong scent, the smell of something dark but pleasant filling Eira's nostrils. It was some sort of divine smell that didn't go away, even after hours. And it remained as strong as before.
She looked up at her husband.
"You're back early." Eira noticed and smiled at him.
She felt happy he came back early today.
"Yeah, just finished work early today, he's asleep?" Faris seemed tired, exhausted.
Eira knew why, he had heaps of work and he also couldn't ignore his family.
Managing between the both was really hard but he was doing so well.
"Just slept right now. Should I ask Aliya to prepare dinner?" Eira questioned him but Faris shook his head.
"I ate at the hotel. It's alright." Faris responded.
Eira furrowed her eye brows.
"You okay?" She asked softly, putting Hani on the bed and standing up.
She walked towards the walk in closet where Faris had been heading to and put her hand on his shoulder.
"Hmm? Yeah." Faris replied, shrugging it off. He still had a debate going on in his mind.
"You look, different." She noticed but he shook his head.
"I'm fine." He said again but Eira sighed.
"Faris. Tell me." She hardly took his name in front of him like that.
Not that she was the kind of woman to not be able to take her husband's name but she respected him, loved him.
He was older, much more mature and more amazing than she ever could be.
"Come on, I have good therapy skills." She teased making him chuckle slightly.
"I had a meeting with a person today." Faris started to speak, but kept working side by side.
He first washed his face in the sink and Eira stood there with her arms crossed.
Faris came out of the room and then looked at Eira.
"He owns a club under of one of my hotels." He stated and Eira nodded my head.
"Anyway, he's an indian-" He gulped.
"He wants me to open a hotel with him in Mumbai, its a fair deal and the profit would be really good, but I don't really know what to do right now." He finally explained.
Eira didn't know how to react. Why was he telling her this? It confused her a little. She frowned.
"If it's a fair deal and the profit is gonna be great, then why don't you go for it?" Eira questioned him and Faris sighed.
"Because I don't know if you'd be comfortable with that." Farid admitted and Eira's heart warmed at his confession.
He cared too much for her feelings.
"It's your business, if you think it'll be a good decision to open another chain, you should go for it. I am nobody to stop you." Eira told him and Faris made a sound deep in his throat.
"You're my wife. Only you have the right to stop me Eira. No one else has the courage to even come out and talk to me to be honest." Faris admitted making Eira smile again.
It was true. He was too intimidating for everyone. Even Eira's mother couldn't talk to him without feeling a little scared.
"I just wanted to make you feel comfortable. I know you have some memories, bad ones and I don't want to remind you of them."
Faris tried to explain what he had been thinking. It didn't matter though, because him being with her was all she needed now.
But it was still kind of him to even consider her feelings and how she would feel about the whole thing.
"I don't have bad memories of a place I've never been to. Of a person? Yes. But it doesn't matter. I've learned to let go of things." Eira told him.
Faris leaned across the same wall Eira had been leaning against after getting changed.
"Doesn't mean they don't hurt." He murmured but it was audible enough.
"They don't. Not since you." Eira admitted the truth and the shine in Faris' eyes made her stomach flutter.
How did she get so lucky? What had she done to have a husband like him? Had her prayers to Allah finally been heard?
Faris had filled the hole in Eora's heart. The hole that represented loneliness, beyrayal and hurt. He had filled it all up with love and loyalty.
"Good. That's all I ever wanted to do in the first place." He responded and Eira let out a hearty laugh.
She moved forward, pecking him beside his lips.
"Then do what you want. Travel there, open that grand hotel and make your wife proud."
She said and then walked back towards the bed, lying beside Hani.
She didn't know this conversation would one day lead to some thing she never expected to face, again.
