The journey back home was soothing yet terrifying. Back on the roads of Abu Dhabi, on the way back home meant forgetting it all. Eira wanted to forget, but she also wanted to remember. There was a small scar in Eira's heart and she did feel a little broken but she had Faris beside her.
He could join all her broken pieces and not complain about it, not at all. He had realised the shift in her mood, the sudden gloominess and he also knew the reason behind it, but at the same time he knew that he would always be feeling the same way if he were in her place.
So all he did was hold her hand and soothe her.
"You have no idea how beautiful you look right now." Faris murmured, smiling at her.
"You always know what to say." Eira responded and her lips twitched in a small smile.
"I do. Our small world has changed a little, hasn't it?" Faris questioned her, a soft expression still on his face.
"I don't know. Do you feel that?" Eira asked back, and Faris nodded.
"I haven't touched you in so long, haven't been inside you, haven't felt you." His response was truthful and honest.
They hadn't been intimate ever since they came to Australia.
"I'm sorry." Eira replied, looking at him innocently.
"Why are you sorry? I just missed you, that's all." His response made lean on him.
The guilt washing all over her.
She had hugged a man that wasn't her husband. She had heard another man's heartbeat and she had no courage to tell that to her husband.
She couldn't lie, but she couldn't tell him the truth either.
"I missed you more, I mean you were right there and I was right there but I still missed you. I don't know how to explain it Faris, but it's like I'm needy, you know? I need you to be by my side all the time. I feel like I'll do something wrong if you're not with me." Eira laid out everything. It was like she couldn't stop speaking.
"What's gotten you so vulnerable Eira?" Faris asked her, his thumb brushing over her lip.
"Nothing, I'll be fine once we reach home."
"You better be. I plan on making you writhe under me in pleasure." He replied smirking at her.
She chuckled.
"Oh? And what will I say?" She shot back playing his little game.
"Ana behibak Faris, Ana behibak." Faris said, in a high pitched voice, as if he was climaxing, making Eira laugh hard. She hadn't laughed like that in a long time.
"Oh God, why would I say I love you in arabic while orgasming Faris? Huh?" She asked, slapping his arm lightly.
"Because you'll be so full of me." He replied cheekily.
In all honesty, he just wanted to make her feel better.
"We'll see."
She responded and both of them remained quiet until they reached home.
--
The couple reached home in about half an hour. Faris got out of the car, carrying Hani in his arms who stirred a little in his sleep and then moaned about walking on his own.
So Eira held his hand as he started to walk inside. The weather was hot and humid, summers had just started but who cared about summers when it came to Abu Dhabi? It was hot here almost all the time.
Eira quickly shot a text to Farhan, reminding him that she had reached home safe.
She smiled as she walked the steps and entered the foyer.
"Suriya? Suriya." She called for the maid who was strangely not at the entrance to greet them.
"Suriya!" Eira called for her again making Faris frown as well.
That was strange and extremely unusual. Suriya was always there, no matter what.
"Umma?, Suriya lost?" Hani questioned innocently watching his mother call for the maid for the third time.
Eira chuckled.
"No baby, maybe she forgot we were coming today." Eira responded, muttering a little to herself.
She took gradual steps inside and was about to call for Suriya when she finally appeared.
She looked baffled and shocked, her eyes blood red and face pale. It felt like someone had given her the worst news ever.
"Suriya? What the hell? Are you okay?" Eira questioned looking at the woman and holding him by the shoulder.
"You no go in, it all finish if you go in." She told Eira in her wrong attempts of speaking English.
Faris was already hurrying inside, not bothering to ask any more questions.
Suriya tried to stop Faris too but he had already left. Eira rushed after him too, handing Hani over to Suriya asking her to keep him safe.
She didn't know what was going on, she just hoped it wasn't something bad.
Eira frowned as she saw Faris standing still in the living room, she joined him then, looking at him and then the way he had been staring at.
Her eyes raised as she saw who was in front of her.
The whole Al Borkan family.
Faris' whole family was sitting in the living room, a few of them standing as well making Eira feel confused. They had hardly visited them in the last two years, only on Eid's and important events and today, they were all gathered with the most sullen expressions on their faces.
She first counted all his family members.
Well, nobody was dead. That was for sure.
Faris didn't stand there for long, instead he walked forward greeting his mother.
"Mother." He said, kissing the old woman on her forehead.
"Faris, Habibi,." The woman cried a little.
Faris honestly wasn't surprised. She cried everytime she saw him.
"lm 'akun 'aerif lakum jamieaan qadimun." (I didn't know you all were coming.) He stated as he met his sisters, his father and some of his other family members too.
Eira finally regained her senses a little and met the family too. They weren't close, in fact the hugs and the cheek kisses were awkward for her.
"We came here to tell you something." His mother responded and in the mean time, Hani ran over to his grand mother.
Atleast he was close to her. Eira appreciated that.
"Yeah? Is everything alright?" Faris questioned sitting beside her.
"I don't know how to do this, to you." She looked at Faris and then at Eira. "And, to you." She said to her.
She cried a little and Faris held her shoulder, trying to calm her down.
"Just tell me. Whatever it is, I'll fix it." Faris promised.
"It's not something, it's someone." His sister told him.
Oh Allah, please don't let it be anything bad. Eira prayed in her head. She already had a bad feeling about it.
"Who?" Faris asked.
"Me."
And in that moment, everything stopped.
That voice, he had died a thousand times to hear that voice, he had prayed and cried for that life, he had ruined himself and healed himself and he hadn't forgotten it.
Not for a moment.
How was this possible?
Was it a dream? Was it reality? Was it a nightmare? Was it his mind playing games?
How could she be here? It didn't make sense.
Faris could cry in that moment, he could die in that moment.
"Ayesha."
He murmured and everything went black.
---
So that happened? I'm sorry if its too starplus-y.
I couldn't kill Faris ok?
