Escape? : Chapter 22
*Kate's POV*
There I was, a sitting duck. I sat motionless in the darkness, waiting for someone, or maybe even something to come through the door. I hated just sitting here waiting for something to happen to me. My restraints dug into my wrist, and ankles. I made a small movement causing my restraints to make a loud clanging noise. It made me almost jump out of the chair, which means I made more movement , causing the whole room to be filled with loud sounds of banging metal. I took a few deep breath, calming my self down.
"YOU CAN'T KEEP ME IN HERE FOR LONG!" I yelled into the darkness. My voice echoing in the room.
I heard the big door that was seemingly in front of me creek. My head whips around, my eyes focusing on the small crack of light coming through the door. MY mother stood in the doorway with the self pity look on her face. I rolled my eyes and looked the other direction, before we could make eye contact.
"Come on sweetie, I'm sorry. Maybe you were right." My Mother hummed.
"Really" I questioned, slowly turning my head back in her direction.
"What you said I guess got to me." She smiled.
"So then what are you going to do then" I raised an eyebrow, and leaned my head in her direction a bit.
She walked over to me and pulled a huge ring with about a azillion keys on it. She started searching through the many rusted keys. She pulled out one that was different from the others, this key wasn't rusted. It was a shiney silver key. She shoved the small key into the keyhole of my restraints. After a few seconds of rummaging around, the metal restraint popped open. My hand immediately shot up. I was scanning my arm while my mother jammed the key into the other side. There was a giant bruise around my wrist, and many little cuts on my arm. The other side soon popped open, and I started rubbing my tender wrists. My leg restraints were soon undone and I popped up from my seat.
"Let's go!" My mom whispered, as she tore off a vent cover.
I smirked and followed her through the many different dark turns and other events linked to the ones we were in. We made it to out last vent cover. We eventually made it outside. My Mother kicked it open to reveal a little ten foot drop. We both hopped out and landed in some really rough, tall dead grass. I got up and felt a cold breeze pass by. I shivered due to my exposed skin.. I looked up and saw the moon and stars. I looked around to see that we were in a big open field.I had no idea where we are.
"Mother, where are we?" I questioned looking in every direction possible.
"Buldhaven." Mother said bluntly.
We stood there for a few silent seconds before I spoke up.
"What made you change your mind? I thought you and Father were..." I started.
"Maybe just A change in heart I guess." She looked over to me and smiled.
Ok something was definitely up, either she wasn't my mother, or she is totally faking.I look over to her once more to see her looking in many different directions, hopefully finding a way for us to escape.
"This way" She swung her arm around to point towards the North.
I smiled and nodded. We started to sprint over before we were stopped. Two of My Father's men appeared in front of me making us stop dead in our tracks.
"Where do you think your going?" My Father's chilling voice sounded behind us.
"Anywhere but here!" I yell turning around to face him.
When I turned around to see him he looked entirely different. He was in just a black suit. No orange and purple or black and white. Just black. He had a few white bandages wrapped around his face. And he had a shot gun on hand. I crinkled my nose a bit, at the sight of this new version of him. I heard a low pitch growl come from his mouth. He picked up his gun and raised it high above his head. I already knew what was going to happen, but I wasn't going to let it happen.
I leaned forward punching him in his fat gut, making him stumble back a bit. He help his stomach for a few seconds before standing straight back up
"Why you little brat!" He grumbled running in my direction.
He was swinging the end of his gun around, probably thinking he was going to hime. I started to jog to the side a little bit, but I was to slow. He hit the back of my knee, making me collapse to the ground.I rolled over for him only to put a foot on my stomach. He was shifting more and more of his weight on me, causing me to gasp for air. I tilt my head slightly up wards to see my mother running in the other direction.
"Coward.." My Father mumbled under his breath, I was probably the only one that heard it.
He propped his gun onto his shoulder and aimed it in the direction my mother was running in. I hear the horrifying click of the gun.
"Say goodbye to your mommy" he coughed.
"N-no..." I managed to sputter out.
But it was too late. The gunshot was made, he tilted back a bit after the shot had been made. I looked up at him with a loom of fear plastered on my face.
"Bullseye.." He smirked.
