Part 2
Frank waited by his classroom door as family after family approached, convinced their kids to let go of them, and left for work, or whatever other daily activities they had.
Soon enough, three familiar faces approached.
Bandit was holding Gerard's hand and leading him forward at a sprinting pace, while Miles was holding his other hand and clinging to his leg, trying to drag him backwards. Gerard, meanwhile, was simultaneously trying to tell Bandit to slow down and convince Miles to hurry up.
He looked up to the door nervously, and Frank sent him a sympathetic look.
Gerard smiled anxiously back, clearly worried about the day.
Eventually they reached the classroom, despite Miles' best efforts, and Frank led them into the classroom to re-show them where to put their back packs.
Bandit hung hers up eaglerly, but Miles refused to remove his tiny Spider-Man bag.
Frank was going to reassure him, but Gerard bent down first, wrapping his son in a hug.
"You'll be okay, buddy," he said. "I know it's scary, but it will get better."
Miles' brown eyes shone with tears.
"Are you sure, Daddy?" he asked timidly.
Gerard nodded, looking close to tears himself.
"You'll be okay, and I'll be just a few blocks away at work okay? And Mr. Frank will take care of you, and Bandit will be here, right?" He continued.
Miles nodded, looking up at Frank trustingly.
"D-do you think they might not like me?" he questioned.
"I know they'll love you, buddy."
Miles nodded bravely, reluctantly slipping his bag off and carefully hooking it in his cubby, beside his sister's.
He went to Frank, Gerard following behind.
"I'm ready, Mr. Frank," he said.
"Okay, Miles," he said, leading the boy into the main classroom. "You can choose a seat on the carpet, anywhere is okay."
Frank watched as Miles carefully sat in a green square on the rainbow striped carpet, and noticed Gerard watching him carefully biting his lip adorably with nerves.
The younger man brushed his hair out of his eyes and refocused on Frank, stealing one last glance at his kids.
"Are you sure they'll be okay?" he said nervously.
Frank raised his right hand as if to deliver a pledge.
"Positive," he said. "It's a very safe school."
"Yeah, okay, it's just... I don't know. Is it normal too be this nervous?"
Frank laughed gently to reassure him.
"Totally."
"Okay..." Gerard ran his hand through his hair, then glanced up at the clock. "Oh, uh, I should go, sorry, I start work in like five minutes."
He looked absolutely terrified. Frank wasn't sure what of, but he didn't like the look of it on his cute face.
Gerard quickly said goodbye to his kids, and basically ran out the door, because he really was super late at that point.
Frank returned to his position at the door, welcoming kids until everyone was present, and the bell rang.
"Okay everyone," he said, standing in front of the whiteboard which the carpet was positioned in front of. "I'm gonna call out your names, and if I say your name, say hi, and tell the class your favorite color, okay?"
He received a chorus of excited responses, all in the affirmative.
"Okay... Millie?"
"I'm here! And my favorite color is pink!"
"Rosie?"
"Hi, my favorite color is yellow!"
"Jackson?"
"The bestest color is red!"
He continued listing names until I got to the very end.
"Miles?"
"I-i'm here and I think the best color is green," he said quietly.
"Bandit?"
"Hi!" She said, far more enthusiastically than her twin. "My favorite color is red!"
"Okay," Frank said, setting down his roster list on his desk. There were only ten kids in the class, so they had managed to go through attendance before the morning announcements.
A second later, a voice crackled through the crappy speakers.
They went through the date, read off the lunch schedule, welcomed new students, and announced the due dates for the the soccer and basketball program permission forms.
When they reached the Pledge of Allegiance, Frank struggled to teach the kids how to say it. In the end, it ended up with a lot of giggling and jumbled words, but he kind of expected that.
It would definitely need work.
"Okay guys, for the first day, we're going to make gifts for our favorite people in the world," Frank announced, going to the cabinet to take out some colored paper and glue. "Who wants to share who their favorite person is?"
When he looked back, several people had their hands up.
"Millie?"
"My grandma is my favorite person!"
"Why do you love your grandma, Millie?"
"Because she gave me cookies and a tricycle on my birthday!"
"Those are some pretty awesome gifts," Frank agreed, setting the stacks of paper on a table. "What about you, Bandit?"
Bandit was clearly excited to share, but she noticed everyone else putting up their hands, and she wanted them to have a chance.
Her eyes widened in excitement as she answered without hesitation.
"My favorite person is my Daddy, because he makes me and Miles happy when we are scared, even though he gets scared too."
Frank's admiration for Gerard grew a lot with her reasons.
"Our Daddy is my favorite too," Miles added.
"That's great guys. Are you ready to start the project?"
Frank directed them about the craft, which was to glue a lined paper to a colored piece of construction paper, and then draw a picture of them and their favorite people in the blank space.
It was full of interesting glue mishaps and Jackson decided to glue a paper to the wall, but otherwise everything went smoothly.
After that they had snack and recess time, which all the kids were incredibly excited about.

At the end of the day, Frank followed his morning routine of greeting parents, except this time he had to convince the kids to leave.
Bandit and Rosie had caught in instantly, their first conversation beginning when Ben told them how his paper was for his mom, and how he didn't have a dad, and Rosie told about how she had two dads, and the Bandit told about how she had one dad and no mom.
Miles read most of the day, and he had even managed to read an entire page by himself with no corrections.
He had become reluctant friends with Millie, which was funny because he was far louder and more excitable than Miles.
Gerard was among the last to pick up his kids, returning in a different shirt than he had come in.
When he entered he greeted Frank, and the twins jumped up from their spot by the blocks when they heard his voice.
"Daddy!" they cheered simultaneously, running to him and hugging him tightly when he bent down to receive them. Her hugged them just as tightly, wrapping his arms around them with a huge smile.
"Did you guys have fun?"
"Yeah!" they said, and proceeded to rant about all the things they had done.
"Yeah?" he said. "That sounds great."
Miles gasped.
"Daddy! We made-ed you presents!"I
"Oh wow!" Gerard said. "Can I see?"
Bandit shook her head ardenantly.
"Nuh-uh," she declared. "We have to go home first!"
Gerard smiled.
"Okay, but we'll have to wait a while, we have to go to my work for a while first."
"Okay!" Miles smiled.
Frank watched as he continued talking excitedly, far more open in the presence of his father.
Soon they had to go, and Frank began to clean up the classroom, thinking of some certain twins and their angelic father who he couldn't imagine having kids at fifteen years old.
