sixty-one.

When the truck came to a halt June felt her heartbeat stop in her chest, her breath diminishing as she realized her new temporary  location would soon be taken away from her. The small glimmer of comfort she had found in the back of the truck was surely about to be ripped away, especially when Rafe was waiting on the other side for her. She stood, gripping the pole she had found in her hand as she stepped towards the door. The truck abruptly backed up, June falling into the door and dropping the bar, her eyes straining to see where it went as she leaned down to try and find it. When the truck stopped again, she was defenseless.

She had only moments to decide whether she was going to attack, or try to flee, or try to hide, but before she could decide the doors lock was being fiddled with, June's breaths shallow as she tried to catch onto something that would make her panic less. She was unsure what to expect when the door opened, her mind racing with endless possibilities of where they could have taken her, but when the door opened, she only saw Limbrey, the girls blood boiling immediately.

"Whats she doing here?" Limbrey asked as her eyes fell on the angry and terrified teenaged girl. Renfield came into view, his eyes narrowing as he pulled the gun from his pocket, pointing it at June.

"Now you come outta there real slow. No quick movement." Renfield said, June staring at the metal of the gun, her eyes wide. Rafe finally came into view, the boy pushing the gun down from Renfields hand, his eyebrows furrowed as he shook his head at the man.

"Put your gun down." Rafe said with his teeth grit, getting in Renfields face, June looking at him as if he was insane, considering he was the one who literally kidnapped her. She pressed her back against the furthest part of the truck that she could, trying to put as much space between them as she could. Rafe stood at the edge of the truck, his head tilting as he looked at the scared and panicking June, his eyes wide as he once again realized what he had done.

His eyes lowered to the cross, Rafe and Renfield pulling it out of the truck and carefully placing it down.

"I don't believe it."  Limbrey said, her attention no longer on June and just on the cross now.

"Told you I'd get it for you didn't I?" Renfield said, a relieved sigh on his lips as he felt happy that he was out of her control. He had kept his promise.

"You said you would and...and you did." Limbrey said, all of them watching as she spoke. June sucked in a breath, taking this as her chance to make a run for it, considering Rafe was too focused on the Limbreys to be looking at her.

"Before we do this I just wanna  remind you of the deal okay?" Rafes voice filled the air,  his eyes stuck to Limbrey. June worked up the rest of her courage, the girl running as fast as she could and jumping off the side of the truck. They all turned to look at her as she let out a pained groan, the girl immediately taking off out of the warehouse. Unfortunately Rafe was fast, faster than her, the boy grabbing her and pulling her back by the waist, June letting out a yell as he did.

"Now we cant—we cant have you running away June. Now can we?" Rafe said, pulling the struggling girl back to where Limbrey and Renfield were, the two of them having their eyes stuck on June.

"If she's gonna be here, you need to keep her under control. I don't exactly know what that situation is but it has nothing to do with this. This cross—"

"She won't be bothering you. June. June! Shut the hell up!" Rafe said, putting his arm around her neck, June's hands once again flying up to his arm as she tried to get his grip off of her. "Stop! Stop!" Rafe said as she pulled frantically at his arm, Limbrey taking slow steps towards the cross.

"No! Please. Please help me!" June cried, the girl unsure of what she could do. She was so ridiculously stuck in this bad situation that she didn't know what to do.

"I showed you the mural. I get my cut."

"The deals as we discussed, Rafe. Quiet her down, she cant ruin my moment." Limbrey said, gesturing loosely towards Rafe. Rafe nodded, pulling June back and towards the side of the truck. He pushed her against the side, holding her back by the shoulder as he got in her face.

"June calm down. Please calm down. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm not. Just please calm down." Rafe said, his eyebrows furrowing in sympathy and something else as he looked at her. His tone change shocked her, the girl letting out a gasp as she realized how crazy he was acting. She struggled against his grip before finally meeting his eye, something about the look in them making her stop. She sucked in the air that they were sharing, his face so close to hers that she could see the worry lines starting to form on his face.  His grip loosened slightly and June blinked, Rafe getting the memo that she was calm. "Please." June thought about it for a moment, her eyes never leaving his as she weighed her options once again.

"Okay." June said, giving him a slight nod, Rafes eyes closing briefly in relief. He let go of her, extending his hand to  her in an unexpected gesture, June staring down at it as tears gathered in her eyes. She couldn't tell who was more dangerous, Rafe or the Limbreys, but she knew Rafe, she didn't know the Limbreys. June let out a sigh as she grabbed his hand, Rafe feeling his heart pounding in his chest as he  knit their fingers together.  He was providing solace to her because she was terrified. Little did he know that he was the most terrifying thing in the room.

They walked around the side of the truck, June feeling like her chest was going to concave at the feeling of Rafe Cameron's hand in hers. Angering him was not a smart choice at the moment, and neither was angering the Limbreys. So June would play along until she found the opportunity to escape.

Limbrey dropped her crutches as she touched the cross, the gold holding her up as she studied it. The woman was in complete awe, her eyes wide as she looked at her hard works payoff.

"So beautiful. Inside this cross is the shroud. And whoever touches the hem of the garment...shall be healed." Rafe and Renfield shared a look, the Cameron boy taking a step closer and pulling June with him, the girl biting her lip so that Rafe wouldn't see it trembling. Limbrey pulled the key from her pocket, her breath shaking as she held the cool metal between her fingers. She lifted it to her lips, pressing a kiss to the key before inserting it into the keyhole. "It's time for a miracle."

June held her breath as Limbrey turned the key, the woman slightly struggling with the lock. She leaned closer too, her curiosity making her lose some of her fear, she wanted to see it. She wanted to see if it worked.

"Here let me help you get it." Renfield said, reaching forwards and trying to help her.

"No! It's meant for a Limbrey." The woman said, pushing Renfield away as he  tried to help. Rafe and Renfield shared another look, June feeling some twinge of hatred in her for the blonde woman.  It wasn't meant for a Limbrey, it was meant for Pope. Her lip curled in disgust as the lock clicked, Limbrey letting out another shaky breath as they all leaned just a bit closer.

She pulled the small door open, June raising her eyebrows as she realized there was nothing inside. A moth flew out, June's mouth dropping open as she looked at the empty compartment, a small smile fighting onto her lips as she realized Limbrey wasn't going to get what she wanted.

"Hm. The magic scarf was eaten by bugs." Rafe said, his eyes lifting to Renfield as he started to laugh. A  smile  graced the March girls face as she felt justice was being  served to the wicked woman.  June gasped as Limbrey turned around, backhanding Renfield as she did so.

"How dare you mock me!" She yelled, Renfield getting back up and grabbing the woman, throwing her to the ground. Rafe pulled June behind him by the hand, the girl noticing the small action as he did so.

"Hey, hey, hey!" The Cameron boy said, pushing June further behind him as Renfield stepped towards Limbrey.

"Easy, Carla."

"That's it. You're cut off. You're not getting a penny." Limbrey said, looking up at the man who was standing over her. He let out a sigh, not quite caring what she had to say.

"I don't need your money. I've got the cross now. Come on Rafe, help me." Renfield said, turning away from the woman and heading towards the cross. Rafe was now faced with a  decision, his hand tightening in June's as he looked at Limbrey and Renfield.

"Rafe!" Limbrey called for him.

"Dont worry, you'll still get your cut. Come on!" Renfield said. The Cameron boy let go of June, the girl stuck in her spot as she watched Rafe help Renfield reload the cross, Limbrey calling out for Renfield. Her attention turned to the brunette who was standing perfectly still, her eyes wide in shock as she watched the scene.

"June! Help me! Stop them." June shook her head, not quite knowing what to do anymore but knowing that her chances of helping Limbrey up we're low. This woman was a menace.

Another thought occurred to June as she looked over at Rafe, the girl realizing that he did in fact love her so very much. She wondered if she could twist this,  if she could somehow get that cross in that truck...back to Pope Heyward. June sucked in breath before walking over to the two men, her hands attaching to the metal of the cross as she helped to lift it.

Rafe looked over at her, his glance faltering as he took in the March girl in all her glory, helping him. His lips slightly parted as he noticed once again how perfect she was, and how at the end of the day, she'd always end up with him. June strained as she helped them lift, Rafe pushing it into the truck the rest of the way as June thought over her plan. All she had to do now is lie. Easy.

"Renfield.  Get over here and help me up. Now." Limbrey said, her arm extended towards the man in the truck.

"Help you up? You're lucky I don't back up over you." Renfield let out a laugh, Rafe grabbing June's hand again and pulling her to his other side.

It was then that a gunshot sounded, June gasping loudly as she heard it, another one sounding right after it. There were two more, Rafes eyes widening as he looked at who had shot the gun...and who had been shot.
