nine.
"Home sweet home. Take us to your mansion Ms.Fancy-pants." Terrance called through the window, Sarah and John B sharing a look as June groaned. She leaned over towards Sarah, feeling the need to lighten the mood a little bit.
"I do not like that guy." June whispered, looking behind her at the captain. Sarah didn't say anything, her blood still boiling from John B and everything that went down. June's lips tightened into a flat line, the girl feeling a bit stupid now for even speaking. "Right."
"All right this is it." John B said, the three in the back getting under the tarp. June laid her head back, feeling stupid now for sitting between John B and Sarah as the girl started to speak.
"You lied." Sarah said, crossing her arms as she looked at him. June turned her gaze towards John B too, shaking her head and narrowing her eyes at him. He looked at both of the girls, his lip curling up as he looked at June who had no idea what they were talking about, and then to Sarah who looked beyond hurt.
"I am very aware of that, and I am very sorry. And I shouldn't have gone." June looked to Sarah now, waiting on her response.
"Is the gold even there?" Sarah said, June nodding her head as John B spoke again, her eyes jumping to him.
"Uh...I think so." John B said, his hands gripping the wheel a little tighter.
"You think?" Sarah said, sounding angrier.
"It's there." June whispered, giving Sarah a sheepish grin. The girl did not look amused, all of their attentions turning to the security guard. John B talked his way inside, June nodding along with everything he said, giving the security guard a toothy and believable smile before they all disappeared out of the mans sight.
"June. June look at me." John B said, June raising her eyebrows and looking at him. "Follow my lead. Seriously. No going rogue, listen to me." John B said, making June furrow her eyebrows.
"When have I ever gone rogue? I always stick to the plan." June said, causing John B and Sarah to share a look.
"I'm sorry, you ended up in the Bahamas with us because you stuck to the plan? You got shot because you stuck to the plan? Do you remember the uh...the part where you jumped off the boat and into the water? Doesn't really sound like you stuck to the plan." John B made his point, June looking at him in disgust as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Mhm that's what I thought."
"Whatever." June said, John B stopping the car.
"Also this newfound attitude of yours...not a fan." John B said, jumping out of the car. June slid out of the seat, following after the small group with her arms crossed over her chest, not looking forwards to what was coming up.
"Let's make this fast." Sarah said, the girl starting to search through a plant as June looked around the front yard.
"Gotta be pretty rich to have a waterfall in your front yard. You're full of surprises Ain't you, Ms. Rich? I absolutely love what you've done with the landscaping." Terrance said, June groaning as she started to get tired of hearing this guys voice. Sarah unlocked the door, pulling it open and looking back at the Captain. "Get in we don't have all night. Go."
Sarah gestured for them to come inside, June and John B following her first before the rest. They had lost Tyler somewhere along the way, June blaming herself for having yelled at him earlier, resulting in his disappearance. John B was secretly ecstatic, finally glad to have gotten rid of the guy who was being a little too handsy with his friend.
They made their way to the safe, Sarah crouching down in front of it as John B leaned against the top. June stood to the side, behind everyone else, her fingers going to the cut on her neck as it continued to ache.
"Okay let's see here." Sarah said, sighing.
"Showtime girlie." Terrance said, Sarah typing in a code. "You best remember that combo." Sarah turned the handle, the door jamming as she stared at the metal. "I knew I should have never listened to you."
"Oh my God can you give her a damn minute." June said, the Captain turning to her and giving her a warning look.
"Usually he uses his birthday. Maybe I entered it wrong."
"Chop-chop let's go." Terrance said again, making June groan.
"I'm trying." Sarah shot back, John B suggesting that she use Rose birthday. The door jammed again, June starting to feel a little bit of a panic in her chest as she looked at the safe. June tuned out Terrance, his voice continuing to irk her as she watched Sarah intently, her heartbeat in her ears. Finally the lock clicked open, June letting out a breath of relief as the door slowly swung open.
June's eyes widened as they fell upon the stacks and stacks of gold, the gold giving off a glow that lit up her face. She remembered everything that she had done to get to this gold, and yet looking at it...she didn't feel satisfied.
Stubbs disappeared to go get the bags, June rocking back on her heels and bring her lip. The man ran back in a few moments later, a panicked look on his face as he looked between them all.
"Guys! Security's here!" A fire was instantly lit under June's ass, the girl immediately running towards the door. She reached it at the same time as John B and Sarah, Terrance closing it and locking it.
"What are you doing?!"
"You're the bait that's gonna slow them down. See you later." Terrance said, turning on his heel and leaving the three there.
"No! Open the door! Fuck!" June yelled, her eyes wide as the others tried to call out for him.
"John B they're coming! They're coming!" Sarah said, all three of them heading towards a hiding spot.
"What do we do?" Sarah asked, but John B was quick to shush her, June pressing her back into the couch.
"John B...I think I'm gonna go rogue." June said, looking over at the guy beside her. He shook his head but June was already crawling away, her legs taking her towards the stairs. She pushed her back against the wall, giving John B one more looking before pointing straight up with her finger. She was going to the roof. She crawled away towards the stairs, pressing her back against the wall as a officer ran by, her breathing stopping so that she wouldn't be too loud. She pushed open the balcony door, jumping over the railing and onto the roof beside it. She crawled across, listening as John B yelled through the house, distracting the guards.
He seemed to be on the roof with her, both of them having had the same idea and both of them executing it differently. John B rounded the corner, June looking at him with raised eyebrows. She took a step back, her foot sliding on a roof tile. Before she could even stop herself she slid again, John B watching as she tried to find something to grab onto, but there was nothing. He ran over but he was too late, June slid off the roof.
The fall was short, her back connecting with the ground first. She hit the ground with a thud, immediately falling unconscious.
