The makeshift bed that had been given to June March was one that she truly cherished, the softness of the cot making her sigh out in relief. It had been days, days on this boat, ones that she spent mostly with John B and Sarah, and some that she spent with Tyler Sutherland. Above all there was one thing she had made a point to observe, the rising and setting of the sun over the open water. The first few she had enjoyed the views with John B,the two taking the time to learn things about each other that they never knew, and then John B got tired of watching and he sent Sarah to enjoy them with her. Then eventually neither of them could stand waking up that early, so she had asked Tyler to enjoy it with her.

A knock on the metal door pulled her out of her thoughts, the latch door opening and revealing the dark haired man himself. June had learned a lot about him in the time that she had spent with him, but she knew about men and she knew about ulterior motives, so she always made sure to shut down any conversation when it came to things that he didn't need to know. Other than a few boundaries that he had overstepped, ones that she had quickly corrected, he had been a breath of fresh air to talk to,  someone who didn't infuriate her every time they spoke, and someone who didn't know about the things plaguing her back home.

"Hey." Tyler said, stalking over and taking a seat on the floor beside her cot. June pushed herself up from her laying position, a kind smile on her lips as she sent him a wave. "How'd you sleep?"

"I didn't. I've been thinking too much." June revealed, chewing on the inside of her cheek as her eyebrows twitched together. She had been thinking a lot lately, something that she hardly had time for before and now something that she had plenty of time for now.

"Thinking about what?" He asked, noticing the strange look on his new friends face. There were very few people his age on the ship, and after exhausting conversation between them all, it was nice to talk to someone new.

"Everything. Thinking about how I literally died and somehow, I'm still here." June had begun to sound like a broken record, mentioning almost daily that she had been given another chance. Tyler enjoyed the feeling of being the one that had brought her back, even though he never spoke up about the part that he played in it. June pulled her knees to her chest, Tyler nodding his head as he watched her start to zone out.

"The suns starting to rise. You wanna head out?" Tyler broke the silence, June's attention turning back to him. She nodded, a small grin on her face as she felt a twinge of happiness in her chest. She had very few things to look forwards too anymore, all she ever thought about was death and life and JJ and how much she missed him. She had no idea when the next time she would see him would be, and nothing about her future was certain, she had no clue where her life was going to lead her.

"Alright come on slow poke. Get your head out of the clouds and let's head outside." Tyler said, reaching out and grabbing her hands. He stood from where he was sitting, pulling her up from the bed and towards the metal door he had entered through. She hardly protested, wanting nothing more than to see the brilliant oranges and yellows that would soon paint the empty canvas of the sky.

The two teens leaned against the railing, the girl staring up at the stars that still dusted the sky. It was early in the morning, but she still had hope that JJ was looking up at them too. The guy was staring at the girl, trying to figure her out still, wondering if he would ever unravel the mystery that shrouded her.

Today was a silent sunrise, the two of them just enjoying each other's company. There had been rises where the two of them learned everything under the sun about each other, and there had been rises where not a single word was said, just comfort. Today was a different day, June scooting closer to Tyler and dropping her head onto his shoulder. Today they would port, finally in Nassau after what seemed like forever. It truly hadn't been that long, but June was struggling to remember the key details of JJs face already, making her heart start to hurt.

Tyler's breath was struggling to release as June's head rested on his shoulder, the girl only moving every few moments to find another spot for comfort. She had never trusted him like this, enough to put her head on his shoulder and keep her eyes trained on the sea.

After the sunrise June hurried back to her cot, wanting to savor just a little bit more sleep before they docked that day, the cargo ship journey ending and the gold journey picking back up. Tyler went his own way, making his way to the bridge to report for morning duty and learn what it was he had to do.

When he reached the bridge he spotted the Captain speaking in hushed whispers, his finger gripping a paper in his hands. Tyler's ears perked up at the mention of the three castaways, the brunette pressing his back against the wall so that he was out of sight and eavesdropping.

"Never judge a book by its cover. Those washed up kids are cop killers." The Captain said, Tyler immediately connecting the dots and realizing exactly who he was talking about. Cop killers? Maybe he hadn't learned as much about June as he had thought.

"Well that's a 100,000."

"Woah."

"You want me to call it in?"

"Call it in? We got six kinds of contraband on this boat. They ain't going nowhere. We'll turn them in when we get to Nassau. Come on." Tyler sprinted away from the bridge, hiding so that he wouldn't be seen as the captain exited the room. Tylers breath was heavy as he weighed his options: let June get caught, or help her escape. The answer was clear, the boy standing from his hiding spot and already heading towards the room he had spent plenty of time in, June's room.

Before he could make it to the other side of the ship he was stopped by the captain himself, the man giving him a broad look as Tyler began to sweat.

"I need you to mop son." The captain said, pushing a mop into Tyler's hands and giving him a nod. The brunette nodded, not wanting to raise suspicion to what he was doing. He began to mop, his mind elsewhere as the older man left him, making his breathing start to clear up. He needed to get to June, he needed to help her escape.

It almost scared him how fast he had come to the decision to help a wanted fugitive, but he had always been asking for a chance to get off this boat. Maybe this was the push he needed.
