eleven.

June's lips were completely dry, her stomach having growled at least 6 times in the last hour. John B had his hand pushed against her stomach, keeping her held back for everytime the  turned, and Sarah checked on her every few moments, making she she was still awake. June was  fully awake now, and the only reason she could tell that she was fully awake was because she could feel every single ounce of pain in her body, including the pain from her old gunshot wound. Her back was in crippling pain, her legs asleep from the way that she hadn't moved in the last hour to avoid the shots of pain that would fly up her body.

John B parked the car by the dock, his eyes falling him June who was just staring straight ahead now, and then to Sarah who was looking at the boats.

"Okay this is arguably the worst idea we have ever had." John B said, earning an unexpected nod from June as well. They all unbuckled, John B turning his body fully to look at June. He grabbed her cheeks, looking her in the eyes as Sarah started to get out of the truck.

"June I need to know if you're okay to do this or if you need to stay in the car." John B said, his eyes tracing over her face as she looked back at him. He felt awful for how much he hadn't been taking care of her, she was in this mess because of him.

"I'm okay. I just need some help out." She said, earning a nod from her friend. He dropped his hands from her cheeks, immediately scooping the girl up the best he could and pulling her towards the car door. When he feet hit the ground she was filled with pain, a short and small cry leaving her lips as she did so. She bit her lip, trying to dial back the trembling and also trying to keep from making too much noise. John B stood beside her, taking her arm and draping it over her shoulder so that she could walk with his assistance.

They stumbled towards the ship, the sound of Terrances voice making June wanna turn back. She really didn't like this guy. John B switched his grip to her waist as they walked up, Terrance catching a glimpse of them all and raising an eyebrow.

"Look what the cat done dragged in." He said, June feeling the eyes of the three linger on her a moment too long.

"I have a proposition." Sarah started, June needing to sit down. She just needed to rest.

"If it involves giving you that rock back, that nugget, forget it. You're lucky I'm not on the phone with the cops right now."

"I'm not worried about that. Because you saw what was in the safe , did you not?"

"Yeah I did." Terrance answered.

"And it  was exactly what you told you it was gonna be. Right?"

"Yeah well  that things locked down tighter than a clamshell now." Cleo chimed in, her eyes finally leaving June and going to Sarah.

"No shit. But the golds not staying there." Sarah said, making June almost laugh.  She looked up at John B, the guy who was basically the only reason she was standing, a proud grin on her face as she whispered to him.

"She's really good at this." She  whispered, John B fighting the smile on his face as he looked down at the brunette. He lifted a finger to his lips, instructing her to stay quiet so that they could figure all this out.

"My dads gonna come down and move it. He'll have to." Sarah said, making June's throat dry once again as she thought of where this plan was going. She had been half in and out during the car ride, and had missed some key parts of the plan but now she wasn't too sure she was on board.

"So  what are you proposing? A Brinks job?"

"Think about it. You have a boat that can get us away. You know people and the island, and I can find out exactly when the gold is moving. And I'll give you 2 million."

"Let me get this straight.  We take the risk of going to jail and getting shot for a fraction of what's in that safe."  Terrance said, not looking completely convinced.

"After you abandoned us? Stole my boat? I don't owe you shit.  But I'll give you ten." Sarah quipped, June and John B  both looking to her in confusion.

"Ten million apiece." Cleo said, making even June scoff.

"I like that.  Ten apiece." Terrance said, a grin on his lips .

"Apiece? Okay you know what? We're getting—" John B started but he was cut off by Sarah, the girl crossing her arms over her chest as she spoke.

"John B." She looked between them all before looking back down to Terrance. "Ten million apiece."

"Oh my God." June said, pushing away from John B and finding the strength to  stand on her own.

"The million dollars. We're just throwing money away.  You hear that?" John B said, wanting them to close the deal now so that there were no more arrangements. Sarah and the Captain shared a look, the man sticking out his hand first to shake.

"You have yourself a deal, sweetheart." Terrance finally spoke, Sarah reaching out and shaking his hand. June closed her eyes in defeat as she realized they were very much just giving the money away, making her stomach swirl as she thought about it. Everything they had done, all of it, just to keep throwing it away.

Terrance started to say something else, June shaking her head as she turned on her heel and started to walk away. It was more of a stumble, but it was fast enough for the whole group to realize she was leaving. She walked towards the truck, John B following after her as she pulled the car door open.  Sarah watched after him, her eyebrows furrowing as he left her on the boat with the other three.

June closed the door, laying her head against the window frame of the truck and letting out a sigh. She wanted to calm down, she was a bit angry at everything.  She heard the door open beside her, her eyes slightly opening as she looked to see who it was. John B.

"What?" June asked, her lips pursing as she waited for the brunette to answer. He didn't for a moment, making her reopen her eyes to see him staring down at the steering wheel, his eyes wide. He clearly wasn't about to talk, so she started instead. "Every decision we make...just keeps making everything we did amount to nothing. Our lives were ruined for that gold, you have no chance on going home and I'm also a fugitive. I just...I feel like everything I  do is the wrong choice JB."

"I know. We're just giving the money away at this point. I wanted- that was everything my dad worked for, it was the last thing he left for me. We found it fair and square and Ward just stole it from us." John B started to vent, June opening her eyes and listening as he spoke. She nodded, knowing that the gold wasn't just money to him, it was his dads obsession, the only thing he had left of him. They sat in silence for a few minutes, just enjoying the others company as they thought. A peculiar thought occurred to June, the girl letting out a sigh as she turned her head to look at him.

"John B?"

"Hm?"

"Do you think that if I wouldn't have followed you in town that day...when those guys were chasing you, do you think I would be at home right now, clueless and happy and not a fugitive?" She asked, John B feeling a little sting in his chest as he realized he was mostly the reason that her life was ruined.

"Do you regret it?" He asked, looking down at his lap. June grabbed his hands in his lap, causing his eyes to turn up to her where he was met with a genuine smile.

"No. But I just like to think of where I could possibly be instead of where I actually am." June said, making John Bs heart warm. This friendship between them had only blossomed during their trauma, he felt now as if June was closer to him than Kie at times, and to be brutally honest, she was. "Now answer my question." She said, pulling her hand back from his and waiting . He scratched the back of his neck, a small chuckle leaving his lips as he settled on an answer.

"No I think you'd still be here with us. You know why?"

"Why?"

"Because I think you and JJ would have ended up together regardless." John Bs answer was genuine, the words making a smile come to June's lips as she thought about JJ, arguably the love of her life. She felt tears gather in her eyes as she nodded, the girl biting the inside of her cheek to try and keep herself from crying.

"I miss him. A lot. At least you have Sarah." June said, leaning across the truck and laying her head on his shoulder. John B nodded, feeling his heartbeat quicken as he thought of Sarah. He couldn't imagine being here without her, and yet June was going through that.

"He misses you. I'm sorry you didn't get to talk to him. He asked if you were there." June thought of JJ, feeling an extreme ache in her chest as she thought of what he was doing right now. That was the only place she wanted to be, back in his arms. John B dropped his arm around her shoulders, his lips tightening into a line as he looked down  at the girl who was miles and miles away from her love.

"If I could go back...I wouldn't have let you follow me.  I would've stayed out of your car, walked home like I was going to anyways. I would've avoided you." John B said, filling the empty air with the  truth, making June's look up at him with furrowed eyebrows and a look of confusion.

"Why?"

"Because you deserve better than all the shit you've been through. If I could go back I'd keep you out of it. Everything bad that's happened to you is my fault. You deserve better than being dragged into my shit life June." The two of them sat in silence for a moment, maintaining eye contact as June searched for any bit of a lie. He was telling the truth though, June's heart beating quickly as she realized something.  She had people who actually cared about her. After a minute she gave him a pained smile, pushing herself up fully from where she was leaning on him, his arm falling from her waist as she looked out the window.  His eyes remained on her as she lifted a hand to her lips, her fingers brushing over them as she thought about what he had said. He snapped out of his trance a moment later, looking down at his hands and then back up to the boat where everyone else was.

"I'm gonna head back June but uh...don't be too long okay? We gotta make a plan." John B said,  acting almost as if  what had just happened hadn't happened.  They had definitely just had a heart to heart.  She nodded, listening as he opened the door and left the car, leaving her  alone in the darkness to her thoughts.

"Thank you."
