eighteen.

June pushed herself up from the floor of the small boat, her back aching as she let out an overly load groan. She opened her eyes, seeing the bright and brilliant sunrise in front of her. She smiled, feeling a twinge off happiness as she realized two things. Number one: she was on her way home. Number two: sunrises never disappointed.

The brunette stood, stretching her arms over her head as she looked at John B and Sarah who were arm in arm, both of them staring out at something in the distance. June walked towards them, the two other teens taking notice of her, smiles crossing their faces. John B dropped his other arm over June's shoulder, June following their gazes to whatever it was that was so intriguing. Land.

"Where are we?" June asked, her heart jumping with joy as she thought of being home.

"Well that big bridge over there? I think that means we're in Charleston." John B said, pointing at the bridge in the distance. A smile broke out over the brunette girls face, her eyes turning to the two people beside her as she let out a breath.

"We did it guys! We're going home." June said, leaping forwards and pulling Sarah into a hug. She was gentle with her, knowing that she was probably in a shit ton of pain and trying not to make it any worse. She adjusted her arms so that she could hug John B too, the three of them sharing a relieved laugh as they realized how close they were to their old lives, even if they weren't that close at all.

"I wonder what JJs doing right now." June said, pulling back from the hug with tears brimming her eyes. She walked to the edge of the boat, unable to hide her excitement anymore as they headed straight for land. In true JJ fashion she let out a yell of excitement, her fist punching the air as they got closer and closer to land.

June took in the sights, looking overhead as they crossed under the bridge. It was only within maybe the next half hour that they finally reached land, John B pushing the anchor into the sand and helping Sarah off the boat. June wanted to kiss the sand, finally being back in her home country and also so close to home. She has spent enough time on boats to never have to go on one again. She knew that was wishful thinking but she couldn't bother getting herself down about it, things were really looking up. June carried a gas tank for John B, the two of them sharing a smile as they headed up the beach.

"Listen, we're gonna get some gas, find a phone, get outta here all right?" John B said as they walked up the beach. June furrowed her eyebrows, pursing her lips as a problem arose with that statement.

"Excellent plan but there's just one thing..."

"How are we gonna pay for gas?" Sarah finished for the brunette, John B quickly answering.

"Don't worry about  it. We'll figure it out." He said, making June shake her head.

"Time for some good old fashioned stealing." She said, her nose scrunching up as they all walked together.  It wasn't long before the aroma of food started guiding June, the girls eyes attached solely to the restaurant that seemed to be about a blocks distance away. Her  stomach growled as she looked at a sandwich in a mans hand, her urge to reach forward and steal it from his hands becoming quite overwhelming.

"That looks so good. I'm starving." John B voiced all of their thoughts, June unable to stop herself now. She set forwards, her hands outstretched but she was quickly pulled back by John B, the boy shaking his head at her.

"No." Was all he said, the three of them walking up the stairs and into the restaurant. John B walked ahead of them, walking past a waiter and bumping into him.  The waiter stumbled forwards, the drinks on his tray falling over as John B stopped.

"Oh my God uh..."

"You idiot!" The guy at the table said, standing and looking at John B.

"I'm so sorry."

"Oh my God. Your shoes!" Sarah exclaimed, talking to the woman at the table. June just stood back, not quite sure where to insert herself in so just watching as the scene unfolded.

"This is a $1700 jacket!" The guy said,  June taking the time to proactively not care. They all argued and apologized a bit more before Sarah finally grabbed the wad of money from the table, all of them heading away from the restaurant.

"Did you get it?" John B asked as they walked away, June looking to Sarah with a prideful look.

"What are you talking about? Oh you mean this?" Sarah said, lifting the cash in her hand for him to see.

"Oh my God."

"I'll sugar mama you." Sarah said, John B smiling at her comment.

"I was hoping you would say that." He replied back, June butting her way into the conversation.

"Can you uh...sugar mama me too? I'm kinda dying here." Sarah and John B laughed, making June smile at how genuine it was.

"Yes I can sugar mama you too." The three teens traveled through Charleston in search of a gas station that sold food, and also one with a bathroom for June, who had made a point to the other two that she was almost sure her  bladder was about to burst.  Finally after a good thirty minutes of walking they found a gas station, John B and June setting the gas cans down in the ground and then all of them turning to each other.

"Alright you two. How many hot dogs you want?" June was almost jumping up and down now, she has to use the bathroom so bad. She waved John B off, muttering a small 'surprise me' before running inside the gas station. She ran into the bathroom, quickly doing her business and heading back out, John B coming out at about the same time, hot dogs in hand.

"Oh thanks." June said, grabbing a hot dog from his hand as they both exited the station.

"Uh sorry they ran outta the real deal. They're vegan-" Sarah was trying to tell the two of them something, pointing her fingers towards the sidewalk as the other two now realized what was happening.

"Hey you! Come here! Thieves! You stole my money! Come here!" June ran over, grabbing a gas can in one hand and gripping her hot dog in the other, her eyes wide as she began to ran. The guy continued to chase after them, yelling and calling them thieves as they tried to escape.

They sprinted through Charleston, June gripping her hot dog harder than she was gripping the gas can. They neglected to check the road, all of them running out so they could cross the street. A truck swerved, almost hitting them all as they dove to get to safety, June's back hitting the ground .

"Holy shit! Watch where you're driving asshole!" She screams after the car, looking over at John B and Sarah who were getting up.

"Maniac!" Sarah said, John B helping her up as they all looked at the truck that almost killed them. June's eyes widened as she looked at it, her mind reeling with confusion. "Wait is that..."

"Heyward?" John B confirmed, making them all realize what that meant. They were there. June immediately took off sprinting in the direction of the truck, her eyes following it as she watched it turn into an alleyway.

"Heywards truck." John B and Sarah were close behind June, the girl having never ran this fast in her entire life. They skidded to a halt at the edge of the alley that the truck was smoking in, June's eyes catching a glimpse of the other three.

"Hey! JJ! Pope! Kie!" John B yelled, the three of them not seeming to hear him as he yelled again.

"Guys!" Sarah yelled, but June couldn't form words, her lips hanging open as she watched JJ turn the corner. The guy from the restaurant was starting to catch up, John B turning to a small cart and putting the gas cans in it.

"Come on we gotta find them." John B said, June jumping into the back seat and giving Sarah a smile of disbelief.  John B took off, the bikes owner soon joining the chase as June beckoned for him to go. She wasn't even sat down anymore, the  girl half in the seat holding onto the  front of the cart as she smiled feverishly in excitement.

"Pope!" June yelled, trying to find out where the three were. He felt a prickle of pain in her chest, her hand flying up as she realized how ridiculously close she was to the only thing she had wanted for awhile now.

The cart skidded to a halt, the three missing teens staring at the three who hadn't expected them. June's mouth opened in excitement, her eyes meeting JJs triumphantly.  He blinked twice, wondering if this was in fact real, or if he was hallucinating an angel.  June sat up more in her seat, unable to think of any words to say as the blonde looked at her, her face hurting from how hard she was smiling. It felt almost as if  two parts of a broken heart were pushed back together,  fully mending itself.

"JJ?" June said, disbelief in her tone.

"Carly?" He said, a goofy grin breaking out  over both of their lips as they all jumped on the bike. JJ and Pope ran to the back to push it, Kie reaching forward and hugging June so hard she thought her lungs were going to collapse.

"Go faster John B!" June yelled, her body turning to the back of the cart where JJ was pushing. They all continued to scream in excitement and in fear as the man that was chasing JJ, Pope, and Kie was now chasing all of them. JJ jumped onto the side of the cart,  June launching herself at him. She let out a relieved cry as his arms wrapped around her head, her arms around his waist as he stood above her.

"I cant believe it!" She yelled, feeling for once that everything was right again.  Pope fell on the ground behind them, June reaching over the back of the cart with Kie, the boy grabbing both of their hands. They pulled him onto the cart, all of them cheering in excitement as John B pedaled for his life.

The guy chasing them fell, all six of the teens whooping and cheering as they made their getaway.

"See you later asshole! Oh my God!"  Pope screamed, all of them laughing in excitement as JJ blew the man a kiss. John B made it back to the boat, all of them quickly transporting to the boat so that they could get the hell out of here. They all cheered as the boat rode away from the beach, JJ turning to June with probably the largest smile she had ever seen.

"I'm no liar JJ." June said, reminding him of the last thing she told him, pulling him into a hug once again. His arms wrapped around her waist , his intentions being to never let her go again. He breathed in the smell of her, his eyes closing as he felt tears prick at his eyes. June could only feel relief in her body, an enormous weight lifting off of her shoulders as she stood in his arms. He buried his head into her neck, pressing a small kiss to the tender skin there, making her laugh out.

"Yeah I never doubted you." JJ said, pulling back from their embrace so that he could take a look at her face, almost feeling as if he needed to be  pinched to see if he was dreaming.  He pushed some hair out of her face, holding her cheeks in his hands, his eyes tracing over every feature of her face, feeling guilty for almost having forgotten how beautiful she was.  June accepted this affection, taking this as her chance to look at JJ as well, the girl pulling something from her pocket. She lifted the vegan hotdog to her mouth, taking a bite as they continued to stare at each other. JJs mouth dropped open as he looked at her, his eyebrows furrowing  as she chewed the hot dog.

"I was starving sorry." June said, taking another bite as JJ broke out into almost hysterical laughter. The others laughed as they observed the scene, June smiling widely as she continued to eat at her hot dog.

"What's so funny?"
