𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐇𝐘 𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐌𝐘
yes, i walked away mid-conversation. you were boring me to death and my survival instincts kicked in

ECHO bursted into the house, looking like she could murder someone. "Jenna!" She shouted to the top of the stairs.

"She won't come out of her room," Elena explained as she stared at her twin and Alaric.

"Jenna, we need to talk!" Echo shouted again.

"What did you tell her?" Ric asked.

"Nothing. She won't talk to me." Elena sighed.

Echo turned and glared at her sister. "See? This is exactly why we should have told her sooner," she snapped. "But, no, we have to do what you want all the bloody time!"

"I was protecting her," Elena denied.

"You were making life easier for yourself!" Echo shouted, furious. All this was happening and it didn't help that it was that time of the month, so she was a little testy.

Ric got in between them. "Okay, calm down. We're gonna have to fix this, guys."

Echo scoffed. "That's an understatement."

That's when Jenna started to come down the stairs with her bag.

"Hey," Elena greeted, as Ric said Jenna."

"I don't want you here, Ric. You need to go," Jenna stated shakily.

"Okay, listen. I can't begin to imagine what you must be feeling right now," Ric started, wincing at his own words,

Jenna glared at him. "Rage and betrayal would pretty much cover it," she retorted.

Echo stared at her sadly. "Where are you going?" she asked, confused.  "

"I'm going to stay on campus. I have a thesis to write, and I don't want to be in this house," Jenna answered, not meeting their eyes.

"Jenna, please, stop. Just let us explain to you exactly what is going on," Ric tried to reason, but Jenna ignored him.

"Echo, I need you to go to the Lockwoods' today and accept the historical society's check for your mom's foundation," Jenna told her, now meeting her eyes.

"Okay, but Jenna, please—"

Jenna cut her off.  "I don't have it in me to hear any more lies from you! Any of you!" She snapped before storming out of the house.

"Jenna—" Echo was about to go after her, but someone grabbed her arm.

"Let her go," John told her, and Echo glared at him. "It's better that she's not here, what with everything that's going on. But maybe you had been a little more honest with her from the beginning, this—"

John was cut off by Echo punching him across the face, making her uncle fall to the ground. She snarled in rage and picked him him up, and slammed him against the wall. She punched him across the face once again, and again, and kneed him in the stomach. She then flung him to the floor and kicked him in the stomach harshly. He started spitting out blood, but Echo didn't care as she continued to beat him up.

"Echo!" Elena screamed, her eyes wide. Stop!" She grabbed Echo's hand, but the angry Gilbert just pushed her back harshly.

Her eyes glow in rage as she picked John up and slammed him into the wall, before kneeing him over and over in the stomach until blood came up.

"Echo, stop!" Alaric snapped, pulling Elena behind him.

One look from Ric, the man she saw as a second father, she called down.

She turned and looked at her deadbeat gene donor. "This is your fault! The next time I see you making my life more miserable than it is, I promise, I will tear out your spleen and give it to Jeremy for Christmas for his paint brushes. You got that?!"

He nodded his head, barley conscious, and blood was spilling from his nose and mouth.

"Good."  She stood up and barely glanced at Ric and Elena's shocked expressions before she walked upstairs to her bedroom.

THEY walked down the stairs and Echo stared in anger as Isobel walked out from the kitchen doorway.

"I asked John for a do-over," Isobel explained, staring between her daughters.

Echo simply let out an inhuman growl and quickly pinned the vampire up to the wall. The vampire just told there, not reacting, staring her daughter in the face. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you right here, right now," Echo snapped, tightening her hold on the vampire neck, knowing fully-well that if she wanted to, Isobel could quickly switched their positions.

"She has information about Klaus."

Echo only tightened her hold on the bitch. "It doesn't explain why you invited her in."

"Please just listen to her, okay?" John asked, looking at the very on edge Gilbert twin. He rubbed his jaw which was bruised. She even had a busted lip which Echo smirked at.

Echo sighed and let go of the vampire who sucked in a breathe as the younger Gilbert twin walked up to her sister.

"Alright," Stefan said. "What do you know?"

"Since I was last here, I've been doing everything possible to find Klaus," Isobel said, "We knew our best chance was to find him before he could find you two."

"Best chance at what?" Stefan asked.

John immediately answered, "Keeping the twins alive."

"You are way behind on that, buddy-boy," Echo retorted. "I've died so many times already that i've lost count."

Stefan sighed and asked, "Were you able to find Klaus?"

"Of course she didn't!" Echo snapped. "If she did, she wouldn't be here!"

"She's right. Nobody knows where he is, but there are these rumors that are flying around that not one doppelganger exists, but two," Isobel stated.

John nodded and said, "Which means that any vampire that wants to get in favor with Klaus will be lining up to capture you two."  "

"I'm not buying this, and I know Echo isn't either," Elena said.

Echo nodded and scowled. "I definitely do not believe any of it. The last time you were here—" she pointed at Isobel, "You made it clear that you didn't give a damn about either of us. Now all of a sudden we're supposed to believe that you want to help?"

"Isobel's been helping all along," John defended, "Klaus has been obsessed with finding Katherine for centuries. All it would take is for one of those 1864 tomb vampires to spread the word that Katherine was still alive, that would bring him back to Mystic Falls, where you were bound to be discovered, so we killed them."

"And you almost killed my sister, and Stefan and Damon in the process," Elena snapped.

"I have a safe house that I can take you both to," Isobel told the twins. "The deed is in your names, no vampire can get in without one of your permission, not even me. Let me help you."

Echo scoffed and took a malicing step towards the bitch. "You want to help? Then get the fuck out of our home!"

"I'M gonna kill myself," Echo muttered as she stood beside Stefan as Elena went to talk to some people from their parents foundation. "I hate this so much. I just want to... rip out someone's heart or spleen, or something!"

That's when Elena walked over, followed by Caroline.  "

"Hey, any luck finding Matt?" Stefan asked the blonde.

lNone. What if he tells somebody? What if he tells everybody?" Caroline panicked, running her hands through her beautiful blonde locks.

"No, we just gotta find him and explain everything. Make sure that doesn't happen," Echo reassured her, "Lena, any idea where he'd be?"

Elena shook her head. "I wish I did, but he wasn't really one to run."

"You know, this wasn't how this was supposed to happen. You know, I was supposed to tell him at the right moment in the right way, and he was supposed to be okay with it because he loves me," Caroline ranted, her voice cracking.

"We'll help you find him," Echo reassured, "It'll be okay, Care. Lena, I need you to accept this thing for Jenna. Catch up when you can."

Elena nodded, "All right. I'll call you when we're done."

Echo nodded and followed Caroline out the door.

ECHO sighed as she pulled out her phone and called Caroline. She was checking the side of town near the woods while Caroline was checking the square.

"I don't know. I thought he'd take a break and ride out on his truck, but he's not here," she told Caroline.

"All right. Meet me back at the Grill."

"You got it, dude." Echo hing up and put her phone in her back pocket.

And that's when she felt a sharp pain in her neck, and everything went black.

"JUST because you can't be compelled doesn't mean I can't force you two to come with me," Isobel told the twins.

Echo glared and rubbed her neck as they got out of the car. "So is that what happened? You snapping my neck like a twig? Oh, how very nice. Let's go have some tea and bond together like a nice normal family!" She shouted out the words at the end. She was more than tired of having her fucking neck snapped. "

"If I was, I couldn't tell you," Isobel stated as they walked through the cemetery.

Elena sighed and grabbed Echo's hand. "So you lied. You did find Klaus, didn't you? He knows where we are now. Are you taking us to him?"

They stopped in front of the headstone, and Elena asked, "What is this?"

Isobel cleaned off the tombstone before standing and revealing her name on the stone.

"My parents, your grandparents," Isobel said, "They put it here when it became clear that the police weren't gonna find my body. They visit every week, and they bring flowers, even though there's no one buried here. The Isobel they knew is dead. So maybe there's a part of me buried here, the-the human part, the part that I abandoned when I-when I chose to become a vampire, the part that used to dream about the day that she'd know her daughters."

"What?" The twins asked confused.

Isobel shrugged.lBut instead, you got to meet the part... the part that would betray her own flesh and blood."

All the sudden Isobel's phone started to ring, and she pulled it out of her pocket and answered it. They could only hear her side of the conversation. But, when she asked if she was done and smiled on relief, the twins grew worried and confused.

The call ended and Isobel sighed in relief, hanging up the phone. She turned to her daughters. "I'm so sorry, Echo," She looked at Elena, "And I'm so sorry, Elena. I'm so sorry that I was such a disappointment to you both."

Isobel then grabbed the necklace around her neck, and Echo reached forward, about to stop her, but it was too late and the woman ripped the necklace from her body, immediately screaming out in pain as she caught on fire.

Echo and Elena's eyes widened, and the youngest of the two pushed Elena behind her.

Elena clung to her twin as they watched their birth mother collapse on the ground in flames.
